Great video - very informative!! Can you tell me how far you are sitting from the monitors/TV’s and what angle your side monitors are placed at? I’m currently running (5) 32” monitors and will eventually switch to (3) 55”s to help maximize FPS.
Chris I just did a test the MSI afterburner log was giving me a vulkan frame counter of 65 to 98 and flying very smooth .... the x plane was telling my frames were 25
Interesting - I feel like the XP counter is accurate for sure, my sim does not feel smooth in any way. I've knocked down the AA settings a bit and thats got me stable around 30 which seems OK for now.
@@av8rchris Hello Chris. Thanks for your videos. I am 4 multimonitor with AirManager Touch/Knobster below the 3 wide. I run G1000 popouts on 21.5 asus touch/2080ti/i9. I have great 32" IPS LG 1 ms Nano monitors. THis is where Gaming monitors excel over tv'S, is when you have to run 1080p to stay above 30fps (seems to be the smoothness cutoff). >40" TV's are just too blurry at 1080p when looking at flight deck. 3 wide monitors are a great way to sim with either hardware Realsimgear g1000 or AM touchscreen. Recommend you purchase 32" LG monitors at Best BUy and return them a week later. LOL To the point: The performance in Puddles 12 is poor for multimonitor crowd. Altho I can get pretty smooth in Puddles 12 stock 172g1000. I am getting 27-30fps at KSAN on all 3/4 settings except clouds at max. Any aircraft that uses SASL is poor, that includes AFL 172 and AErobask DA62, Phenom 300 (my VATSIM Aircraft). Overall, the look of Puddles 12 is much better, except for the sky blue part of the standing water and Cirrus clouds. What a miss. If you look at standing water (shift-4) and move around on a runway you will see what I mean. The darker part of the puddles looks great and then they overworked it by adding the mirror-like sky blue puddles, all in neat rows. What were they thinking? IMPORTANT PART: IMO here is where the performance hit is taking place. Remember the reflections slider in XP11? I could turn it completely off and get 5-10fs improvement which kept me above 30fps in SASL aircraft. Well it is gone in Puddles 12 because the default is FULL reflections, according to Supnik. They did this so rain, puddle reflections etc and weather would look right. Notice your aircraft shine like a cue ball now!! Anyways they need to bring back the reflections slider for the Multi crowd and get rid of the stupid looking sky blue puddles. Can't even see runway marking on short final. Not realistic in the least. The 800 lb gorilla won't install correctly on my system. Have done many clean installs. Still mant ctd'S. Hate being locked into MS ecosystem. Looks nice tho. Still flying XP11 on VATSIM. IMO simming is about improving technique and procedures anyways. Goodonya in 23.
I did yesterday as I realized I didn't do that during the filming of this video and it was maybe a 1fps difference. The best performance increase I've gotten is knocking AA down to FXAA or 2x. That keeps me in a more stable low 30s in fps which at least makes it mostly flyable, it just has alot of shimmering and jagged edges.
That's not my forte unfortunately. The Pilot2ATC Dev was always very supportive when I used to use that program years ago. Have you tried to contact him?
Apparently if u run 3 copy s of xplane 12( on the same pc) it doubles the frame rate for 3 screens. It runs double fast then on one app Its because xplane uses only 1 core, and when u run it 3 times it uses more cores
Yep - At this point I'm cpu limited for sure. Ultimately I'm happy with the performance, and I can run all 3 streams in 4k now for the same performance I've had in 2k.
Hay, thanks for this, but I think you did the slider tests completely wrong. You started with everything at max, then turned down each one at a time. If two or three sliders at max was using up most resources, then turning down another would show very little effect. You should have turned everything down at the start, then increase each one one at a time to see what effect each had independently. Then try turn all of them to about a third, then adjust each one at a time to see the effect with some resources being used. Having them all at max handicapped your test. Please do it again. Thanks, Curtis.
..and now ASOBO and MS are coming out with MSFS 2024! Maybe they will finally introduce full multi monitor support...that would just about kill XP.....
The MSFS current multi monitor support works well for me. Actually I think its a bit better than XPs at the moment at least for my setup. I dont think well see XP die off, nor would I want to see that. Each has its pros and cons and honestly, competition is great for the hobby!
At least for me, performance is mostly worse. I dropped AA down to FXAA and I can maintain 28-32 fps on the triple display, but the jaggies are certainly present. Hopefully they get the performance and graphical glitches sorted soon!

It’s about screen to front of my panels about 17” and screen to eye point around 36”. Thanks for watching!
@@av8rchris thanks Chris! I assume the side monitors are angled at 60 degrees?
I actually have them at 90 and it’s honestly the only regret I have. 60 or so would have been ideal.

Hey mate. Did you try a test with turning off 3D trees? Have been tuning this pretty much Ike yourself on my setup..

Any change with the later betas?
Not that I’ve seen. Performance is staying about the same for me so far.
Cris I need some tuning on my computer with sql and Pilot2atc would you be interested in working on it ?I am willing to pay you for your services.
That's not my forte unfortunately. The Pilot2ATC Dev was always very supportive when I used to use that program years ago. Have you tried to contact him?

I just saw this video from Xforce PC, i may have to give this a try...
could it be that you have a cpu bottleneck at 1080?

I'll give this a go. Would like to get around to a follow up performance review once 12.1 is out.

Okay, so XP12 = worse performance XP11. Thanks.

Too bad....I will stick with XP11 for the home cockpit and MSFS for VR......
Not much has changed on performance for me. The GA stuff is usable on triple screen but airliners not so much.
Xplane 12 was a miss, irrespective of it being "Beta" the underlying framework is XP11 and it simply won't change drastically
Agreed. No software is without issues but so far xp12 is just xp11 with the enhanced cloudscapes mod. I was really looking forward to it too.
