Since the original DJI goggles I had been using the goggles for headtracking and looking/framing with the camera and using the controller to move the drone. That has always felt the most natural way to use the drone.
I mostly fly fpv, but using the head tracking was a whole new level of immersion. Like sitting in an airplane cockpit. I wouldn't want to have it on my fpv drones, but it sure is a fun experience for just exploring. It would take a lot of work to film cinematically in a smooth way, but would give some interesting perspective if perfected.
I have an avata 2 and i really wish I could use head tracking for tilting the gimbal when flying in manual mode. I imagine that would be the best of two worlds.
@@kurtzFPV just the tilt. With an indicator on the screen. Imagine being able to smoothly and intuitively change the tilt while flying manual. As an option.
I have both the Avata 2 and M4P, and have fown the M4P with both the RC2 and the Goggles3 and MC3. For exploring while taking video or stills, the googles/RC combo works great for a steady but custom viewpoint. And having the cursor to point where you want the drone to fly and have it do so is very intuitive and nice. However, in high wind conditions, i would recommend staying with the RC2 as it allows more precise control in tricky conditions, plus allowing easier access to the settings menu while in flight. That last part came in handy the other day when having to switch off obstacle avoidance and hand recover the Mini 4 in a confined landing on our oceanfront balcony while on vacation. 😉

@@readysetdrone DJI Support got back to me, thought I'd loop you in on the response: "This symbol indicates that the Obstacle avoidance does not work, which is normal in Sport Mode. [...] Please fly the drone cautiously. Please rest assured to fly the done. This is normal phenomenon."
After using a cellphone for initial setup of the Mini 4 Pro and binding the googles and motion controller to the drone, can you then disconnect the cellphone and leave it at home, and then go out to fly the Mini 4 using just the googles and motion controller without involving the cellphone at all ? Based on what I've read, sub-250g drones are not required to be registered and are also not required to broadcast Remote ID. Therefore, legally speaking, a cellphone shouldn't be required for flying the Mini 4 after initial setup is completed. Is that just wishful thinking on my part? And if DJI does require a cellphone to be constantly connected to the system while flying with no option provided to disable that requirement in the goggle's flight menu, then what is DJI's rationale behind that stubborn requirement?
We didn't try it, but it should be the gimbal dial and function button on the RC 2. It probably doesn't work with the Motion 3. Thanks for watching! - Kelly and Kris
Hey Kelly. I dont know if you want to try this, but if you don't... What do you think?
So here is my question - Can I buy the M4P Fly More Combo and the Goggles 3 to then be able to fly my M4P like you did at the end of the video? In other words, can I just buy the goggles 3 themselves and pair them w/ my M4P and be good to go?
I recently got a Mini 4 Pro, crashed it 2 days later 😢. About to send it off to DJI to see if they will repair it. I have care refresh, but curious to see if they are willing to do any repair free of charge.
From our experience, on an account level (DJI account), yes, but on a radio frequency level, no. Also, technically the Motion 3 doesn't bind with the drone, the Goggles 3 binds with the drone, and the Motion 3 binds to the Goggles 3. This was confusing to us at first, so in case you didn't realize it, that seems to be the situation with this hardware.
Hey brother, I'd like my nephew to watch through the goggles 3 while I control the drone with my RC 2. Is there a way for me to get the view to my phone or to the RC 2 while simultaneously using the goggles so that I can control with a view and he can watch it in the goggles. I'd appreciate if you could help. Thank you.
