After watching a pile of these Avata 2 videos, it has become obvious that anyone who has spent a large amount of time with a standard RC controller flying FPV drones really does not care for the motion controller BUT people new to drones all love it because it is so intuitive if you have not conditioned your brain to how a drone behaves when using a standard radio.
You can tell these guys are really into FPV and are thoroughly enjoying playing with this item. You know they are telling it like it is because they are PROFESSIONAL fpv pilots and they know that time it is.

I’m getting the goggles but not the Avata2 it has Remote ID built & geofences/ height restrictions I’d rather fly my custom O3 fpv builds that I can fly anywhere

I purchased this today and the goggles are way clearer than the previous ones and the pip is amazing. I’m in law enforcement and we use the Avata for building searches and this is a game changer with that option

It survived a baseball bat strike but not a pointblank shotgun blast. Hope your agency upgrades to the Avata 2 just for the 81db That old Avata was a SCREAMER.
I know it’s been 3 months, but maybe this info will still be useful. I have really liked having pass though and pip. I use it when taking off from places where I can’t just go directly up (like near trees for example). I watch the drone in 3rd person with pass though to make sure I don’t get to close to something and use the fpv view in the top left to make sure I don’t smack into anything as I accelerate. You switch between pip fpv view by double tapping the side of the goggles. I found switching views to be a little finicky at first but it works fine, it just requires a pretty specific interval between the taps. Too fast and it doesn’t work, same with too slow, but once you get used to it it’s easy without a second thought. Looking at the used market it seems like you can probably get around $300 for your goggles 2, while Goggles 3 are $499. The new features work fine and are very useful, but it’s for you to decide if they are worth the $200 difference to upgrade

So ! The control link is trough the goggles! The motion controller and probably the RC controller 3 is “talking” to the goggles and not directly to the drone.
I would normally agree. But as someone with an avata 2. I haven’t had anything to complain about. Get care refresh and even if you destroy it they will send you a new one

@9:05 It doesn't have any obstacle avoidance period!! Not in any mode. Obstacle avoidance is not something you want on a drone that you use in close proximity of objects. The drone would constantly stop on you. It does have downward and backward visional positioning to improve flight safety and that works in both modes.

Nice video! One question, are we sure DJI has the same curve kne normally asumes? I mean I saw DJI Air (I assume) video, where expo is also visualized in DJI gui and it was not linear at 1, but at around 0.5. Values over 0.5 created the opposite effect, lots of input around center. I am having hard times to actually google simple curve representation for avata 2... But I am afraid DJI is most probably unified across its devices.

At 11:56 they switch to Sport mode while Easy Acro is active. I thought Easy Acro wasn’t available in Sport mode. At least that’s what it says when I try to access it while in Sport mode. Am I doing something wrong?

Not at this time. The Goggles 3 & MC3 currently only work with the Avata 2, Air 3, & Mini 4 Pro. Note also you can now fly the Air 3 & Mini 4 Pro with the Goggles 3 while using either the MC3, RC-N2, or DJI RC2 controllers so that is a hugely requested upgrade. In the Avata 2 (Drone Only) Quick Start Guide there are instructions for linking the drone with the Goggles 2, Goggles Integra, & Motion Controller 2. This indicates DJI plans on making the Avata 2 compatible with the older goggles, MC2, & I would assume the FPV Controller 2, at a future date. It is unknown at this time whether they will make the Goggles 3/MC3 backwards compatible with the original Avata or any other models that do not support O4?
Is it going to be compatible right out the box with other radio controllers? I'm new to fpv drones, just curious if i can get the radiomaster or jumper instead of the dji controller without having to wait for some compatibility device/software.
No, the DJI drones can only be operated by the DJI controllers. If you are using an Air O3 unit inside a home built drone, you can use ELRS or any other link as long as you have the right receiver
Unfortunately for the avata 2 currently you can only use the motion controller or the DJI controller 3. it may be compatible with the controller 2 soon.
For flying it does. For the see through of the goggles 3, you can set it to "3D", which would usually give you a bit of depth perception, but this is super unimportant (and doesn't work for the picture in picture mode, which I would say is much better, anyways). So - in short: Yes, same picture and you can fly with blindness in one eye.

Soon as i saw the goggle dwsign i thought it looked even better then a top strap. I always struggle to get the angle perfect and with the large flimsy skirt that comforms to your face, they can use some really soft material with no concerns of it effecting the fit. Main issue i see is all goggles require my eyelash to touch the lens before i can see the corners, and this only applies to ones that are "acceptable" with most over 44 degree view being unacceptable, including goggles 2. The Integras are ok if i run a very thin foam pad with nose area cut out completely, but it still smashes my nose a little. I do love the tension system and built in battery since it can run off an external too after the internal gets low.

The PiP mode was only added in the launch software. It wasn't in the factory software when reviewers got the promo units.

All of these review kits that were handed to youtubers have the ND filters in the bag. The ND filters do NOT come with the fly more kit.
