After my having almost exclusively driving private party used Toyota Corollas (including one new 90's Chevy Nova, which was essentially a Toyota Corolla) and my wife exclusively driving private party used Toyota Corollas, we've both moved over to Teslas. No turning back! That vaunted Corolla reliability? Looks like Tesla has that beat! The tire pressure meters look like they're not designed to fail. (Unlike the Corolla. You Corolla owners, lots of you know what I'm talking about.) No oil changes. No smogging the car. No going to gas stations, ever! The up-front price was a lot higher. (We always pay up front.) But the decreased aggravation is easily worth it! Long term, we're still going to save money. EDIT: Our Teslas are a 2020 Model 3 and a 2021 Model Y.

Traded my Model 3 and my F150 FX4 for a Cyberbeast and I’m absolutely thrilled with the truck. However the number of people who feel the need to express their disgust for it in public spaces is astonishing. Was driving my 8yo daughter around yesterday and two people gave me the finger. There seems to be some assumption that folks who buy the CT are only doing it for attention. I’m not. I only wanted the best EV truck on the market currently, and the CT performs for me better than either the R1T or the Lightning would.

It's quite odd, do you remember any other vehicle in sales history getting this type of response from the public, other than possibly the Ford Edsel? When Ford introduced the Edsel, there was a similar very divisive and challenging political environment at play. I wonder how we all could discuss the similarities of these events or just what we are currently experiencing without being so positional.

I think the public disrespect for anyone based on their personal decision is completely unacceptable. But I do have something to say as to why people feel the way they do towards the car and it’s part of something you said on this reply. You say “I wanted the best car on the market” and this is where most people go crazy.
Listen, if you want the coolest car on the market and also the want it to be a truck there is no denying that the cyber truck is that car and the best car on the market for you. But it is not the best car on the market period. It is not functional for most, it is poorly designed, and has too many reliability problems to meet that criteria. It is this believe that upsets most.

    • @kestrelglassingsystems6704
      @kestrelglassingsystems6704 21 день назад

@@4huggiesi appreciate considered engagement. But that’s not what I said. I said I wanted the best EV truck. And it is by far the most useful EV truck available. So far I’ve hunted out of it 200 miles from the nearest supercharger, towed my 31’ airstream to campgrounds in central Idaho, hauled full sheets of plywood, today I brought home two mattresses, hauled rafts and kayaks to the river… sure seems useful as a truck to me.
As far as reliability, maybe there’s a question mark there, and while I’ll admit that tesla does suffer from fit and finish issues, their drivetrains are rock solid which is more than I can say for my 12 year experience with an F150. ICE trucks are continually becoming more complex to meet fuel standards and this 100% leads to reliability issues.
So, maybe the jury is out on the long term reliability on the CT, but after 6 years with a model 3, I’m willing to gamble.
As far as design? Please… based on what? Have you looked under the hood? Driven one? Experienced how they drive or feel? Withhold your judgement until you have first hand experience. As an engineer I’m extremely impressed by much of what they’ve done with the bones of this rig. Yeah, it’s got a few warts, but I see nothing show stopping.

I have to somewhat disagree about towing. I often tow a dual axel 16ft. flatbed trailer. I have a cabin in small town in Arizona about 70 miles from my house in Phoenix and well over 5000ft of climbing. Half of the route is a dirt road. It does this route really well. Sure it uses more energy. I do have to plug in when I get there but still the cost is way less than gas and the ride is amazing especially on the dirt road. My F-350 beats me up on the dirt but in the cybertruck it is almost like the road is paved. I hardley notice the trailer as well. It probably wouldn't be ideal for a longer route but it works great for me.

I seriously doubt that the haters have any experience with a Tesla other than seeing them on the street and reading biased reports online. It is similar to people that say they hate a particular food, having never tried it. It is irrational. I’ve had my Tesla Model X for almost 8 years, have over 98,000 miles on it, and still love it more than any car I’ve ever owned (I’m 68, so a lot of cars). It gives me joy every time I get in it. And, 90% of my friends, both young and old, now drive Teslas too, including some that were quite skeptical early on. If you have to even think about how you are going to pay for this vehicle, it shouldn’t be considered. If I were to bet I’d say it will be the fastest-depreciating mass market car ever made. I watched your videos when I was thinking about a Tesla a year ago (April 2023) and was amazed. I bought and have been thrilled with my Model Y. It is the best car I have ever owned! The FSD make trips so easy! One of the greatest things is leaving home with a full charge every day - no worrying about stopping for gas or getting oil changes. It saves a huge amount of money while travelling. It costs 1/10th of the cost travelling on vacations, the only time I have to stop at super chargers. The exact trip in our Acura MDX cost us $178 while the Tesla Y cost $19.33 for a 420 mile trip. Unbelievable.
Hate getting into a cold car in winter? No problem with Tesla - you turn on climate control a few minutes early and it will be toasty. In the summer, it will be cooled.
Take a test drive or ask a Tesla driver about their car - most of us would love to show you how cool it is.
If you are here to complain because you don't like Musk or politics, I don't care. He can believe or say what he wants, like anyone else. Form opinions based on your own experience, not what ideologues say.

Eh, camp mode on tesla model y saved a lot of money for me. Unfortunately, i can’t do the same in cybertruck. Last winter I camped in Zion at freezing temp, so it’s hard to sleep in the tent on a cybertruck. In MY you just use AC with any temperature you want. Also, I’m not sure I want to mess with heater inside the cybertruck camp or so. Long distance towing is not the case for me. So if not a camping mode, I’d decide to purchase it.

Great video and comments. I own a MY and MX.
I have a retired liberal friend who used to work for the EPA. He currently drives a 2000 Saab- has just dropped in his third engine. He brags about the gas mileage- close to 40 and claims it is the best car ever built. He also drives with his windows down and is proud to never use A/C. Every time I bring up an EV he gets a frown on his face. Human nature can be quite irrational, even unexpectedly.
A funny CT comment. My adult son (used to work at Honda) and I were driving the other evening when we saw a CT in the exit in front of us. I asked him if he knew what it was…. “Pontiac Aztec?” “Oh no son! That is a Cybertruck”. and we both laughed hysterically. By the way we did get to see the side profile- wrapped in white- very very cool.
I am so glad to hear your CT comments. Once Tesla gets more of the software worked out, it will elevate from cool and awesome to outstanding…at least for EV adopters. In ten years the argument for ICE will be nonexistent. Reminds me of watching the movie “Lincoln” with Congress discussing the pros and cons of slavery. Ugh.

Yes, the CT is still kind of ugly 😅 but I just want one. You mentioned that it’s not great for towing, but I actually disagree- it’s really GREAT for towing, FOR SHORTER DISTANCES which don’t exceed your range. The reduced range when towing is only a worry if you’re towing a long way.
Example- my son has a RWD Model Y and tows their 19’ boat all the time. He says it’s absolutely effortless, and tows dramatically better than his diesel 4WD, only caveat being range reduction whilst towing means it’s not ideal for LONG tow trips.
As for us- five years coming up with Tesla (M3P) and we couldn’t possibly be any happier. I have no plans to update, (even though the new one is even better.)

It seems like the efficiency numbers my model S shows me seems to just be for how much energy the motors use. It doesn't include A/C, FSD, dashcam usage. The reason I believe this is because it tells me my average is 294 kWh/mi. Yet my range is barely 180 miles on a full charge even though it states I can go 222 miles.

Thanks for all the videos! Since you’ve owned a model X and now a cybertruck, can you please do a comparison between the 2 for a family vehicle? Thank you! I live in Oakland County so we are neighbors.

I turned down delivery of a Cybertruck and picked up a model X. Just didn't want to experience all the hype along with the first production issues. Maybe after a year or two.

I got my reservation up and we own 2 Teslas (3 and a Y), but we just can't justify the Cybertruck with the lower range. If the price and range matched the original, I would have already thrown my money at them.
We'll see how it goes in the next year, if the price goes down or the range goes (way) up. Spending $20k more (above the original estimate) and then another $16k to get an extension to still fall short of the original range promised, I just can't justify it.

It’s the same for me, I don’t understand all the hate. Like move on and stop worrying about other peoples stuff. To all my fellow CT drivers, hang in there we will not let the haters win.

Chris, if i was to place a cyberbeast order today…what would be your guess on a rough delivery date. Tesla website says 2025 delivery and i know beast truck likely faster than dual motor delivery but just wanted to get your take. I sense it wouldn’t be 2025. I already have a 2019 Model S Raven (eventually will upgrade to S Plaid) and 2 Powerwalls so adding the battery to my home plus having a truck when needed is a huge factor.

Update - just ordered the beast today! 😂 Still curious what you think the delivery time will be. I mean I’ll get it when i get it but just curious what you think.

Personally I love the look of it. I don't get the hate at all. Lots of cars, crossovers, trucks that I don't like the looks of, or are very bland and boring but I don't go on social media to express my hate for it. People are so weird.

I dont think the CT by itself is stupid, but the "Foundation" version is such a crazy upsale for VERY little (and a lot missing)

This was a necessary video. The online heat for this thing is out of control. The abuse is downright nasty and weird. When I'm out in-person I get nothing but interest and positive comments (especially with my Matrix wrap). Yes, there have been some issues, but that's not a big deal. I don't see people making hate videos out of the F-150 downshift from 6th to 1st at highway speeds recall of 568k vehicles. I think it might be an Elon hate thing, I don't know, but it isn't pleasant.
99% of the assholes on the internet wouldn't DARE be like that in person. They are a bunch of cyber-tough guys.
Thanks for making a great video and not some negative clickbait turd.
