  • Forgot to mention that the 192, 201, 202, 203 and 205 bus routes departed from a different bus stop - from Chorlton Street - during the works. The 219, 220 and 221 routes used stop EX outside Tesco on London Road.
Replacement bus services were in operation between Piccadilly Gardens and Piccadilly, but since it's a five-minute walk away (also step-free walk), I assume that not many people used the service.
Also, the replacement bus service could not operate from 8pm until end of service on 8 July due to a bus stop being closed.
It also seems that the improvement works finished a day early, and normal service resumed on Tuesday 9 July, instead of the planned date of Wednesday 10 July, slightly interrupted by a car getting stuck on the tracks in the afternoon where the improvement works had been done. Also on Tuesday in the evening, a landslip occurred affecting tracks between Derker and Shaw, and disruption is ongoing.

Looking at traffic congestion issues that in some cases do impact on both trams and buses, I really do feel that if you live less than 50 miles from any city centre where public transport provision is deemed to be sufficient beyond a certain level, you really don’t need a car, including an EV, therefore private cars (even taxis) don’t need to be travelling within a designated exclusion zone 50 mile radius from city centres, therefore any postcode within that exclusion zone will have a total and outright ban on private cars and EV’s both in terms of road tax, MoT’s, insurance, vehicle ownership/registration and even driver licensing and that public transport, walking and cycling will be the only available travel options

The 4 month disruption at Victoria wasn’t helped by over complicated track layout
