  • Running with your dog can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a real win in the A! The Iron Doggy running leash is a hands free and spring loaded dog leash that can be customized for as many dogs as you want to walk or run with, and it slides back and forth along a belt really nicely so that you don't get pulled by your dog. It's a little pricey and needs to be used with caution however.

This was very informative. My family is trying to prepare me to run by myself and suggested running with our dog. I was and am still against it because he is not always the best Walker. He walks better with my husband. My trail is also in an urban area early morning so I would run across some people. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to run past some of the people while training and your description of traffic areas also concerns me. Thanks for sharing.

Love this video, added this video to my blog today.......I run with my dogs everyday, BUT even though I've been running with my dogs for years (and different dogs as well, over the years) I can never stop learning about new things and ways of running with my dogs and all.....

If your dog bolts, run faster

would this be safe for two big strong dogs that have a total weight of 80kg?

I wonder which would be good for a small doggy! My doggy is only 16 lbs, so shorter leashes can be too short for him, but I like the idea of less extra leash. What do you think? By the way, he is not a good runner, at all!

I would measure from your hip down to around your guys' neck. If the Sidekick is long enough definitely go with that because the longer leash is really long, and if he's a little guy it might actually weigh him down it's so long. I would only go with the longer leash with dogs that refuse to ever run by your side (but a shorter leash will help a lot of dogs run properly) and you're never on roads, it's just way too long to be safe in all cases on the road.

Nice review, how's the leash holding up? Many hands free leashes available now & this one's pretty high $$$$$.

Two summers and almost two winters later and it's still in tip top shape. No complaints

a better option is to use a ski joring setup

Does the Iron Doggy waist strap ride up while you run?

If you don't have it set up quite right, yeah it does. But there's a sweet spot where it'll sit on your hips and won't go anywhere.
