We Traded Away our Best Player - MLB The Show 24 Franchise Ep.4

  • Today we begin the MLB The Show 24 Franchise with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards are far from being one of the weakest teams in baseball, but they do have one of the most uncertain future. This is an experienced team and one of the oldest in the MLB. Every starting pitcher is at least 32 years old. The best two position players have over 10 years experience. The Cardinals will have to rebuild this organization regardless of their success in the near future. I'm excited to work on restoring this franchise to a championship standard that they have not seen in the last decade.
On my MrHurriicaneLP channel I make sports gaming lets play series. My series focus on building teams and players from sports like baseball and football. I play games such as Madden 24, NCAA Football 14, MLB The Show 24 and more.

Walker spent most of his time in the minors as a 3B, but the organization switched him to OF so he wouldn’t be stuck behind Arenado. If you do end up trading Arenado, 3B would be a much more natural position for Walker.

Last episode SP Steve Castilla had a range of 70-98 potential, 51-79 overall and SP Billy Murray had a range of 70-98 potential, 54-82 overall. Both players low-ends increased by 5 points and top-ends went down by 1 from before you started scouting them.
This video Steve Castilla is at 72-97 and 53-78, which is a +2 and -1 point change. Billy Murray is at 73-98 and 57-82, a +3 and 0 point change.
I know you think 22 year old Daniel Gomez-Phelps would be a good pick, and I agree. However, I think these other 2, maybe more so Billy right now, should have an eye kept on them as the scouting progresses.
Edit: I sent this after the first week of scouting you showed. Billy Murray has just kept getting better. another +3, 0 point change in the second week of scouting for the video.

On the pitching side, I think you could stand to mix up pitches a little more. Baseball savant has 2023 Sonny Gray at 20% curve on the first pitch and I think I saw mostly sinker/cutter in this video on the first pitch. I'd be interested to see what the full pitch percentages were after the game in the pitcher analysis sections after the game. I also think some of the struggles are due to poor defensive play. A better fielder than Adell catches that double in the 2nd.

Just had two good games with HoF pitching, things went awry in the second game though when i started to bring in my relievers. Feels balanced enough for me. Feels like I'm taking the easy way out going down to All-Star but that's just me. HoF hitting is hard but rewarding to me. DISCOVERY is UNDERATED, you can find studs later that the CPU may have no idea exist. Doing an Angels franchise right now, we're 9-6 and im playing to Trout's wishes of staying an Angel for now. However if things go south and it looks like the team misses the playoffs again, I'm trading Trout and will hated throughout Angel Nation as the GM who traded the GOAT, so invested into my storyline...

I still can't quit the team, I've just come to accept (and expect) the disappointment. My Dad's been following the team since the 70s, and even in 2002, until they won the WS, he kept saying "None of it counts until the final out of the championship is recorded. the only sure thing is that they will find a way to be disappointing." It wasn't until the last ~3 years that I really started to understand his negativity.

IMHO, All Star is too easy. Hall of Fame is fine, you just have to pitch a bit more carefully...we got away with far too much in the past. You have to lean on the pitchers best offerings, and pay attention to confidence. Mix up speeds & actually know the batters tendencies a little. Defense matters WAY more, too. Its definitely harder. Plus, your current roster is baaaaad. Your defense is brutal. (Walker costs you runs today, playing the outfield). You can adjust the sliders a little if you feel something particular is out of whack, but you are an experienced enough player to handle the slight changes. Also, All Star plays weird. The ways in which they lower the difficulty ruined the immersion for me. The ratings seem far less relevant. Just my 2 cents, but i was in the same position and figured it out...now im digging it even more than past years. Youll get it, Cane. Just keep having fun, the difficulty setting is really, whatevs, as long as you continue to enjoy making content.

Now the Angels have no one that is a FT DH to be able to get Trout and Rendon off the field more while not losing their bats for the day. Rotation wise now the Angels go back to a 5 man rotation and allow the starters to be on a more authentic regiment where they know they will pitch every 5th day and not have their starts be a thing where one time its on 4 days rest and one time its 5 days rest and one time its on 6 days rest

Kinda disagree. Goldy's 37 and just a rental. I know in the Show last year his ratings always dropped off hard and fast. Cane got a needed top pitching prospect. I feel like it was either get one good A prospect or two mid B prospects. Argument could be made that in baseball go with the quantity hoping to have a better chance of at least one panning out but.. it's his game. Maybe could have seen finding an A that's a little closer to a 70 overall, but not every team is gonna have that along with a need at 1B. Every pitch release you threw was very late timing. Seems like there is some kind of timing for the pitching this year that’s being missed or a bug?

I'll have to look into that. Typically there's no other input involved.

@@MrHurriicaneLPcould be wrong but I think there’s a pitch type that’s similar but with timing I know that fielding has that and it’s hard to notice the names are similar messed me up for a few games on my franchise

I really don’t think you should switch to all star. If anything in the past I thought your pitching difficulty needed to be harder. Please stay on hof, the future will benefit from the difficulty

  • @loganboss1clickbait835
    @loganboss1clickbait835 Месяц назад

The difference in difficulty is that there’s a glitch in the game where all pitches are very late release so all pitches you throw are terrible

I play on veteran and that’s only bc I suck at this game sooo bad. I’ve play every show game since the start and I cannot get better. I think I just suck at the game, I wish I was good enough to give DD a try.

Def should got more for Goldie. It wasn’t realistic guys I understand he’s 37 and a rental. U have to realize it’s only 29 games into the season which he is the mvp in the league rn and it’s not a trade deadline accusation where he’s only there for 50 games. This is a guy that could be the difference in bringing a good team to a great team and could be the one thing needed to make a contender a World Series champ. To do this isn’t realistic at al for 1 prospect. He would easily get a two of a teams top 10 prospects or if cane wanted to make it real instead of the trash guy he threw in he could of at least threw in a 25 year old mlb ready player rn. Like a guy w c or even b potential low to mid 70s that can step right in and play and possibly be a future piece. That and Lesko would be more realistic and also fair for both teams imo

alot of the hitting is the game being alot more lenient on late and early swings with good hitters, alot of those random flare swings that wouldve been outs in the A’s franchise are rewarded now

YOU HAVE A SCOUT WITH 65 pitching rating scouting pitchers that’s not good. It’s not an accurate report. You want your scouts to have at least like 87-90 range for pitchers or position players with high efficiency so they get more scouting done quicker

The 4 lefties in a row vs lhp ain’t working cane🤷🏽‍♂️5678 hitters are all lefty that needs to be changed asap. It’s the third time I noticed it I thought maybe it was just one game cus of injuries or something but it’s consistently like that

He should’ve traded Goldie for Corbin Carol and moved Jordan Walker to first since he would probably be better at defense there
