I got a fold pretty recently, and I think your original videos on it were one of the contributing factors! I was a little worried about longevity of the phone, but after seeing it stay on after disassembly, I feel a bit more confident!
The thing is that the screen kind of sucks since after a couple months the middle of the screen where it folds begins to crease upwards because of the ‘screen protector’. Just wait a little longer for these phones to start getting better cause it’s still fairly new technology that will become more defined over the next couple of years
Now that I decided to actually get one, I came back to see this one more time and again I'm impressed, with Samsung and you! Thank you for your videos! and yes, got the "mistake" with Fold instead of Flip 01:41 :)
i thought for sure you would go deeper into the hinge since from my understanding, the hinge is better than the previous generation in that it can stay flipped at more angles close to 0 and 180
I have this phone and I love it! So many of my friends said it would break right away and that they didn't trust it, but I've had it for several months now with no issues. Such a good phone.
2:52 once you've nicked an amoled display (I assume it is here) it's no longer airtight and will quickly all degrade to greenish/purplish nothingness in a matter of hours to days. Sometimes it can happen without any crack on the screen, just from everyday stress, I've woken up with a dead screen after sleeping on my phone, it was barely lighting up and purple.
May only be the budget A series, but this happened to me on a Samsung A51, was very devasting. I thought, "lol, who needs flagships" then I chilled just fine with my A51 for nearly a yearish before it dropped and started acting funny, later the screen started flashing colors and a pit sank in my stomach.
I have to say, this IS my favorite smartphone. Probably, of all time. I love having a phone that is small enough to disappear in my shirt pocket, while still being a full sized phone, with flagship power.
@@5punkybob It is less durable than a traditional glass screen, in terms of scratching. But, with it being able to fold, it is far less likely to get damaged like a normal phone screen. I have to admit, I’ve been patiently waiting for Mr. Jerry Rig to tear down one of these Z Flip 3’s. Thank you Sir. I used to cringe at the durability test videos but now I actually enjoy them. Excellent research. The teardown videos are my favorite though. I find the Z Flip 3 from Samsung an amazing device! Incredible engineering and design!
I have torn down and rebuild roughly 10-15 of these phones since launch (work for Samsung) and I still watch Jerry videos like I have never seen the inside of the device
@@aarronconleche8468 They are very prone to get damaged due to user error and I have seen non Samsung cases cause pressure damage which pulls the device out of warranty. The inner screen protection film can have issues where it starts to peel up at the hinge or even appear like the screen is cracked. This is probably the most common issue with the Flip devices. My wife has had one since launch and it is just now starting to have the protection film start to show wear.
You should try removing the built in screen protector and see how fragile the screen underneath is. The built in screen protector is just slightly too small for the screen, which leaves a gap around the edge that will collect dust and peel off over time.

This is personally my favorite folding phone yet, It’s small, compact and pocketable yet still has a good screen size And most of all it doesn’t empty your wallet as bad as a $1800 foldable
Hm tho the only benefit you get from it is reducing normal phone into a small square. Usually reasonably big normal phone reaches around same pocketability as this one. I think that it makes big difference mostly to girls that need to fit it into a small purse or their pockets. Tradeoff tho is a fragile phone with bad battery life. Now Fold on the other hand that one changes a small table that noone can comfortably pocket into a size of a normal phone and i see that as a way bigger benefit worth of that durability tradeoff.
@@MrMozkoZrout I'd argue that it's far less fragile than my old phone. My S10+'s screen factory screen protector got completely scratched up in a month While my z-flip 3 still remained factory fresh 2 months later because the screen is always protected inside The camera is much more usable too, you don't need a dumb kickstand to prop it while recording videos, you can just fold it and adjust the angle by as much as you'd like which was super useful to me.
