A full Legacy version of Talisman would be a great idea. It would be really well suited to that format of design. Risk Legacy and Pandemic are really cool games. Hopefully they get a reprint of Betrayal Legacy going at some point since it's been gone for quite a bit now.
As you know, I'm not a big fan of the legacy game idea. There is something cool about taking a game and forging it into something unique for your play group - something that carries all the stories you created with it - but for a number of reasons the idea doesn't work too well for me. But I do agree, I think Talisman would be a good game to create a legacy spin-off for. Maybe they are thinking that might be something for the future and these expansions are, to a certain extent, testing the waters.
Yeah talisman would be interesting as a cooperative game.
I can't wait to see exactly how they are going to do it.
When you make the unboxing video, it would be pretty awesome if you did a side-by-side comparison with the Heroquest miniatures. Just saying 😉
You can see side by side comparisons on my Instagram already but there will be a few of those photos in the review as well.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Sounds good!
I understand your apprehension to Talisman being a solo-co-op game, as a solo gamer I’m excited, HeroQuest was none official solo until the App came out. I would rather have an expansion that allows physical solo/co-op, instead of another app. I’m really excited to see your unboxing and play through/thoughts, I have everything 4th edition. But I’m going to get all 5th edition, the art looks amazing so far.
I'm just not sure how you can make a very competitive race game with a fixed board into a compelling co-op. I'm certainly very interested to see how they are going to approach it, and if they do a good job I think it will add a really exciting new dimension to an old classic.
When I bought this game, 4th edition, I actually had no intention of playing it competitively, I always thought it was a great adventure game, kinda make you’re own story, lay monsters and treasures you have to collect or destroy… without perishing. You pointed out that original HeroQuest UK variant was a lot more competitive than the American version, maybe that’s what’s happening here now too. All the adventure and exploring and none of the back stabbing.
HeroQuest and Talisman are very different games, though. Talisman works within a very confined, quite rigid space, where the pacing, challenge, and banter all stems from the friendly rivalry around the table. I think the designers are going to have to have made some bold moves to pivot away from that. As I said, I'm very interested to see how they have done it, and I'm hoping to be blown away by something that takes the game in a new direction. We will have to see how they have done it.
i need to see te review of the box, ASAP
My review of Talisman will be up on the channel this Monday. No more news on Fate Beckons at the moment, though.
🤔 hmmm... Neat! Kinda bummed that we didn't get to see any of the expansions new heroes. Cause, you know me; I likes me some Heroes going on a Quest 😜
And if they are hiding the figures in boxes it's going to be a while until we see exactly what's included!
I'm not worried. Worst case scenario, I just won't play the coop version.
I'm not worried about it. I'm just dubious as to whether they can pull it off, because Talisman has never struck me as a game that could support a good co-op mode. So, I'm interested to see how they are going to tackle it.
