This really my mood currently. I’ve been natural since 2012, definitely wanna heat train at this point. It’ll grow out , and besides I hardly wear natural styles mostly braids and wigs
@@itsnotajoke7right I think what we really need more of is realism. Everyone needs to be FR. Excess heat , or using heat without protection will potentially permanently alter your hair texture. If you’re okay with that then be okay with that. But whether you’re a stylist or just a hair fanatic doing your own hair, be aware that not everyone wants that. I’ve heard stylists who don’t even try to keep their clients from getting heat damage say shit like that and it’s like girl….ofc YOU would say that😂 but there are REALLY people who just don’t give a shit either way and don’t mind it. But everyone needs to BFFR
I'm heat trained. I loosened my curl pattern on purpose and I'm happy with my hair. It is super healthy, breakage free and strong. 👌🏾

I’m sorry but if your put so much heat to where your curl pattern is different that means your hair is damaged no matter how good you think it looks. We as black women are too obsessed with have loose textures that we sacrifice health and act like out hair is still healthy just because it hasn’t fallen out…not being mean or arguing I just think it’s really tragic

Omg I feel you on the not caring about heat damage. Not everyone cares about having “perfect curls” I definitely have a some heat damage and I only straighten my 4 times a year but my hair still healthier than it used to be when I used to straighten it every 2 weeks. The curly hair community is toxic. If your curls ain’t “perfect” then it’s damaged or unhealthy in their eyes and it’s so sickening.
RIGHT!? Something that was supposed to be empowering became toxic real quick. People too busy worrying about what’s going on with someone else’s hair 😂

This is why I’m going no heat in 2023. I straightened it 3xs for 3 weddings and the second wedding completely toasted my hair. The third salon did a really good job not frying my hair and my curls bounced back. After cutting out all of the damage from the 2nd wedding my hair was really uneven but salvageable. I have a lot of hair. Anyway, last time I straightened was 12 weeks ago or so. I’m getting my first curly cut tomorrow (FINALLY) to refresh for the new year. I’m extremely excited to finally grow my natural hair out and find something that works for me. I wanted to heat train like you did but the cons outweighed the pros so I decided not to. Your hair still turned out cute but I can’t risk it😺
I was in the same boat as you last august I did it myself but was a blessing disguise. My hair was lack of protein and split ends way up the shaft. I cut it up to my ears and let me tell you figuring out my hair porosity using protein every was my hair has done a complete 180 it’s thick and has grown out. I was thinking about hear training but like you the cons outweigh the good for me. I’m looking for a straight hair wig if I want straight hair

The back looks just fine. Its good that you are just having fun with it and you don't have to care about damage.
After 3 silk presses in a row I just knew my hair was finished. I decided to try Idya Michael's Max Hydration video ( cherry lola and Aztec clay method) I left each one on for HOURS i went to sleep with the chrry lola treatment lol. To my surprise curls curls curls better than I have ever seen in my hair. If anyone is struggling with possible heat damage please try that method before picking up the scissors.

I’m a straight natural my curls have left the building but I wouldn’t say my hair is heat damaged because it’s growing. My stylist told me when I started the process that my curls would loosen. I’m honestly ok with it. I remember my mom using stove top hot combs. Heat damage was not a thing. Today I think the word gets used to scare naturals.
agree..My mom pressed my hair every Sunday by the stove, my hair was down my back and thick,I got damage when she told me not to perm it .....I lost my hair to perm, the heat did nothing to my hair

Me with the front of my hair being heat trained I love this video. I use to do that exact same twist method in the front looks like I’m going back to that. I’ve watched so many video, but this was the most transparent video based off my exact hair situation

When I saw yor Bob I went and got me a silk press and girrrrrrl I was so impressed with my length. And that was even after I got a trim. I haven't put heat in my hair in years. Imma do it again for the new year then imma revert back. I love you. You're the best. ❤️

You did great styling your hair. It's your hair, you do you girl. I like your curls. I've had to big chop before too. I've bought some straighteners, but after watching this video I'm going to exercise caution and not straighten my hair often, maybe once in a while. I have 4c hair. However I wouldnt want to get heat damage, as I'm trying to grow very long hair. It already feels like it's taking forever, so I wouldn't want to add any obstacles in my own way.
I always use a protein treatment before using heat and I will have no heat damage whatsoever but your hair look good tho. Love this video fr. 👏🏾👏🏾

It looks really good! Even with the heat damage. You lost some curls but there doesn't seem to be much breakage. Your hair still seems full.

Jess now I'm not saying it'll fix it, but try Curl Smith bond repair. I gave myself heat damage and went from 4b-4c to type 2 in a patch at the top of my head. Been using that for a while and that patch is almost back to normal. Its been almost 6ish months of using it but its def doing something.

My hair literally does that same thing! The front takes to the heat damage far worse than the back.

ur two braids are always a vibe.
i straighten my hair for like 2 - 4 weeks...then i hear my hair in a natural style or protective style for 4-6 weeks....and ummm...my curls are popping and each time i straighten my hair my blow outs get better and better...i think there is a way to do it and still have nicely textured hair. I stay up on protein. I use keratin. I deep condition with heat EVERY WASH.
I've started doing my hair like this as well. Straighten and then break for a couple of weeks. I don't wear wash and gos at all so a light loosening of my 4c texture does not bother me at all.
@@Mskyraelise that was my thing, as soon as i let go of my search for the perfect wash n go (for me there isn’t one, my hair doesn’t like it)…i just wear my hair how it’s easiest and nicest on my head…and i feel like the natural breaks i give my hair allow me to wear it straight like i do. I spend like half my year in mini twists and/or knotless and the other half with straight hair…and next thing i look up and my curls the best and most manageable they ever been.

Hair is still fab. In regards to your piercing try a rod type of earring. I had the same issue and I switched to a copper rod type of earring I bought on Etsy. Healed quick and no pain after about 4 months.❤

Hmm, Redken has an Acidic bond repairer that supposedly works really good. Perhaps it's something about the acid. When I wasn't a straight natural, I used to do a lemon water rinse sometimes and my hair would feel so soft and the curls would really clump.
Try using Olaplex. I use it every time after I straighten my hair and my curls come right back. Olaplex 0 & 3 and the olaplex shampoo & conditioner.
