- Six moments musicaux, D 780 (Op. 94) is a collection of six short pieces for solo piano composed by Franz Schubert. The movements are as follows:
1. Moderato in C major
2. Andantino in A-flat major
3. Allegro moderato in F minor (ends in F major)
4. Moderato in C-sharp minor
5. Allegro vivace in F minor (ends in F major)
6. Allegretto in A-flat major (ends on an open octave in an A-flat minor context)
Along with the Impromptus, they are among the most frequently played of all Schubert's piano music, and have been recorded many times. No. 3 in F minor has been arranged by Leopold Godowsky and others.
It has been said that Schubert was deeply influenced in writing these pieces by the Impromptus, Op. 7, of Jan Václav Voříšek (1822).
They were published by Leidesdorf in Vienna in 1828, under the title "Six Momens [sic] musicals [sic]". The correct French forms are now usually used - moments (instead of momens), and musicaux (instead of musicals). The sixth number was published in 1824 in a Christmas album under the title Les plaintes d'un troubadour.

Don't think I can play this one! This adds a completely different style to the piece. I have to say I'm quite a big fan!
So now we know where Volodos gets his parsfrase style from. Great stuff!
Definitely! And there's also lots of elements of Rachmaninoff's and Horowitz's transcriptions in Volodos's
Thanks for uploading!
It's like a version written for 4 hands but for for two hands
Thank you
Beautiful!

As a complementary variation it's clever and interesting.
The original of course is delightful.
Nice Version
crap, this is so good
Hey bestie
omg is kujo
@@SCRIABINIST yes it is owo
oh wow! i'm becoming a godowsky fanboy now XD
So much in is playing reminds me of hofmann but the playing spirit the char is so different . Hofmann had a little bit of the neurotic like Horowitz . His perfection whether alcohol addled or not will likely not be heard again . Cherkassky is a marvelin himself . He didnt shy away from Boulez or Stockhausen in many ways he was the most remarkable of human beings !
This is way different from the one I learned
I guess you meant F # minor and F # major
The list of tempos and keys in the description is referring to Schubert’s original set of pieces.
@@erikfreitas7093 thanks mate, I appreciate that
Hah; the original is in my old book of grade 4 pieces - think this might be more difficult - 5 ? 6? !!
this is nothing like grada 5 you know...
i've not seen the original but it must be very easy to be grade 4. i'm doing g5 and this is much harder, to play perfectly that is
@@pleasecontactme4274 Hi, I was being ironic - this Godowsky variation is obviously way beyond any grades 1-8. The original Schubert piece is in my g4 book - although not an official exam book and the pieces do vary considerably in difficulty in the book; also the g2 book has a Bach invention which seems as difficult to me as any of the supposedly g4 pieces!
@@adrianwright8685 lol its hard to know when someone is joking on youtube
yeah the grade pice difficulty seems very inconsistent. a g2 bach piece and one g3 piece have been harder than the current g5 XD
@@adrianwright8685 yeah the original piece is even beyond g4, I'd say grade 5-6
God ! why
abdlla abozhra GODowsky
Why not ;)
Just being playful.
I am a 10 years old girl. I’m learning this song but is easier.
good for you
look at my sonata N2, thanks :)
Shura is wonderful as always but give me a break.... Schubert's original really needed no improvement. I see nothing interesting or attractive of this so-called embellishment. If ain't broken, don't fix it.
It's not a fix, it's just fun.
The world could have gotten along without it, sure, but many of the great composers wrote variations on other composer's originals. Brahms wrote variations on themes by Handel, Haydn, etc., in styles very different from their original versions. This piece is not so significant, but what's the difference in theory between this and writing variations on someone else's ideas?
It's not an improvement nor was it intended to be. It's an interesting and technically more complex variation.
@@paulmetdebbie447 Short but well said..
If it ain't broke don't fix it is arbitrarily restricting yourself and other people in music. It's a fun (ha) little arrangement on this piece interpreted by godowsky showcasing what his thoughts and ideas on this piece from one of his favourite composer. If everyone had this mentality music would have been stuck way back in time because it ain't broke so why fix it
Thank you
