Love how patient Jay was & how well mannered his friends child was too. One of my favourite videos to date.
It's his nephew :D
@@Romeren he said he's the son of a close family friend of his wife
@@Romeren close but no cigar
Linus absolutely destroyed the kid under the same circumstances
He had to hold back 🤣🤣
I legit thought this kid was 6' 4" tall at 12 years old. Eff the PC, give this kid a basketball!!
Or a pat on the head for being a good boy, added benefit of stunting his growth.
I thought hes standing on a small chair or something, 12 yo these days are build different
Jay is 6'4"...
@@ghoond1314 Maybe it's all the extra carbon in the atmosphere making kids grow so tall.....
hes gonna play nba 2k with that one
I'm only 13 and your videos have brought me from not knowing how to plug in an xbox to building a pc from scratch. Thanks for making all these helpful videos!
good job bro
he seems like a good kid. glad you were able to give him that experience.
he does, but we don't know him so he might be roasting our mothers in the game chat tomorrow..
I remember working at an Apple Store back in the early 10’s, we described the amount of RAM a computer had as the size of your desk where you put things you were currently working on. The hard drive was the filing cabinet for storing things for later.
That's probably the smartest thing I've heard come out of an Apple Store.
I like it.
Yeah, my description to my parents were similar, but based on a library.
That's the analogy Jay often uses. The human body analogy was probably just because he was talking to a kid and figured he didn't have a desk job yet
I often used the kitchen analogy...recipe=application, cupboards=storage, countertop/prep area = RAM, chef=CPU
Using Jay's Human Body analogy I would've likened the power supply to the digestive system, being the energy input source for the body, but sometimes you have to be flexible in your descriptions.
I once described Ram and Storage as Ram being the music you hear in real time, Floppy discs are the equivalent of mixtapes and Hard disk storage was your Vinyl Album collection, because I was teaching a Mac using musician (who got tired of watching all of his pals upgrading PCs cheaply and finding a similar sized Ram upgrade for Macs was 5 times the cost) how to build his first PC clone.
Once again, Jay solidifies himself as the dudest dude on RUclips 🤘.
So nice to watch this after nervous Linus on Rog Rig Reboot
@@G_man_ yeah no, we alll love steve but he s dull as a rock. jayz has more personality than him
@@raduneagu797 Comparing Steve and Jay is like comparing Squidward and Spongebob lol
I think you meant YouDude
@@lizardofoz8289 You realize you just called Steve an arrogant, pseudo-intellectual obnoxious jerk, right?
See, Jay, you do know what kind of content people want to watch. This was great. Informative, fun, and feel good to see a kid get a banging PC on their 13th Birthday.
Jay: "Back in my day we cable managed up hill both ways in the snow..."
Joe: "Montage!"
I loved Joe's reaction when Jay told him the computer was his birthday present.
IT WAS PRICELESS!
I'm impressed he kept it to a very wholesome "Holy MOLY!"
Yeah.. He's got Surprise.
That way you and your brothers dont stick your fingers in there
I gues he already knew its for him haha
yeees! it was so goshdarn wholesome!
This is the best way to do builds jay, show the smiles that come with them!
With Linus doing his ROG builds with a lot of Roasting involved, this felt super nice and chill. Thanks a lot kid and Jay.
The ROG Pedo Rigged fest. Every year the "winners" are children that they purposely exploit.
This video with Jay is different as he is legit teaching the child about PCs and the building process and is doing it as a favour for his wife, not to exploit a child.
@@SuperQBoi damn someone is salty
@@SuperQBoi Madison was 20 when she did hers. The guy that just did his has got to be in his twenties.
Yeah they had a young girl last year, and they had another guy they hired. Ethan.
I don't know where you are getting this pedo bullshit from? Sounds like somebody submitted their videos and hasn't been picked....
Sound like somebody thinks that just because Linus exploits children they think that people who call them out on it would rather waste their time to try to get exploited by Linus instead....
@@SuperQBoi so how the fuck does he "exploit" children? Please, educate us.
I think only a couple of his contestants have been under 18 and their parents have been involved.
So again, please point out facts, examples, and other evidence you may have ...
This was an enjoyable video especially for the Holidays around the corner. This was a great gift for the kid to not just get a PC but to work and gain some knowledge about building one. I believe this kid will remember this experience for many years. Good Job Jay!!
I spent most of this video thinking "that's a tall 12-year-old" until I realized towards the end you had him standing on a stool. 😂
I was thinking that and now you've told me he's on a stool lol
I was thinking the kid squated down near the end of the video
I got fooled also
@@Tsukiyomi001 Obviously sitting on a chair.
Honestly one of my favorite J2C videos ever. Watching Jay get excited before he told Joe that it was going to be his was hilarious and then Joe's reaction was great too. I love that you were able to help his mom give him not just a gift but an experience.
This was amazing, Jay. Happy birthday, Joe!
It warmed my heart and made me so excited to do builds with my kids. Thanks for helping making PC building accessible and not scary.
Excellent video jay ! When you asked what content we wanted to see this is definitely it, Joe was well mannered and smashed through that build and his reaction was so authentic and wholesome when he realised it was his ! 🥰
my first thought - "man thats one tall 11 y/o"
Seriously
“Closest thing is a bbq” 🤣
Underated but soo funny
This is so wholesome and heartwarming to watch.
I remember about a week ago you were asking what videos we wanted to see and were a bit upset, well... This is a really nice video to see.
I know you obviously can't get a nice kid for every video, but the spirit of this is nice :)
I do enjoy these videos around the holidays it’s nice to see people being generous to each other instead of tearing each other down; it shouldn’t take Christmas for you to treat your brothers and sisters good, we are all here together trying to do our best we can’t forget that.
I gotta give his mom props, she is allowing him to find himself. Good job mom
Legend has it she still walks the Egyptian after birthing worlds tallest baby.
@@DarkLinkAD the kid is definitely tall. I remember going into my sons Jr high school (6th grade) and how tall those kids were. What are they feeding them?!
Plot twist, Jay is his father.
@@opiumextract2934 You're right, my comment was too hasty and unnecessary, and has been deleted. But at least a few people did agree with me, given the several upvotes it had.
I've heard some horror stories of homeschooling leaving people wildly unprepared for the real world, but as you say, there are many positive experiences as well.
@@DarthChewie fair enough, I deleted mine as well. there are pros and cons to every aspect in life. I was just happy to see a parent actually encourage their child's interest instead of telling them its silly or "its not sports". Granted, nothing wrong with anything (I used sports as an example) as long as the child wants to do it. Hope that makes sense
Great video. Props the the mom for not just buying her son a PC, but actually give him the opportunity to learn how to build one on his own. It'd a valuable lesson, and makes the PC far more valuable to him personally. It's great to know that these would be more common once you get the learning center up and running. :)
Oh, and that CPU installation was butter smooth indeed.
Why would she buy one when she can get it for free from jay
well the boy mom doing something right on the time and place,
with current generations, interaction between youngsters and older generations are kind of off, and many of youngsters are rude to older generations,
but in here the boy got 3 different things,
1.Self Esteem which is really good starts just by talking to camera and interacting to older person without rude
2.The Free PC/Buying from JayZ, also included the making the computer runs, by building it by self (with supervisor from the experts).
3.Attitude and the feel for preserve whatever you build by your self will be on your care for longer time, and when there is trouble he knows who will he asking to troubleshooting in later

Love how patient and great Jay is with his friend's child. As a father this hits the feels in a good way. Loved his reaction to realizing this PC was his bday present! Such a wholesome vid. Congrats Joe on your first build, too!
Awesome that he ended up getting it at the end, he'll appreciate it a whole lot more since he built it. Great stuff Master Jay!
The ifixit sponsor never grows old 😂
It’s the highlight of any video that it’s in haha
This was so relaxing to watch, also it's great to see a kid who is like super well mannered and behaved. Like, serious respect to him and his parents.
happy birthday little dude!!!!! a kids reaction to things like this will always be priceless!!!!!
Happy birthday Joe, welcome to PC building!! Hope he enjoys this first build and many more to come!
Great job team Jay. Joe had me at "I fix it!"
What a wholesome video Jay! We need more gestures like this in the world. Keep it up! :)
This was a great video. Thanks for the basics. I was learning right alongside him. Happy birthday to Joe! Congrats!
Good on ya Joe, and he's right, you whizzed through things that Jay (and a lot of us I think) would have taken a smidge longer. Love the bravery there! Happy birthday lil man! :D
Have to say this was a wonderful video, it put a big smile on my face. My wife’s kiddo is around that age and I been wanting to build his first real pc with him but I’ve always been hesitant. The joy and interest he had was amazing. Happy birthday and congrats on the new pc!!
That was wholesome and very chill. I liked the pacing of you both at the building, and Joe {I got the kid's name right, right?} gets to keep what he built. Awesome gift!
Now this is what I call a birthday gift! Not only because the spec and everything else, but the kid got the opportunity to build it and learn from it. That's what I call quality content! Congratulations to the kid and happy birthday to him!
Top video, really well mannered kid, a credit to his parents. Congrats to Jay as well, for once again showing why he is one of the best content creators out there.
This is a great episode! Glad that this was aimed to the younger generation, built my first pc in 2001 in middle school. Videos such as this, would have saved me a lot of time. Good vibes is what we all need! ✌
Was stilll coveted/profitable knowledge back then
This made me smile... Gotta love the way it worked out as well. Learning how to build your own birthday gift... Hope you enjoy your Birthday, Joe!
Thats the awesome and wholesome content we need right now! Happy belated birthday Joe - enjoy your new PC! 🎉
Seeing the joy of child receiving something they really want is honestly one of the best parts of this time if year. Happy Holidays everyone.
Loved this video. Very wholesome, loved seeing jade teach someone how to build a p.c face to face, part by part. Next this kid gets to learn budgeting lmao 😂
Jade was in the video? I didn't see her, must have missed that part.
who is jade ?
Jay this was an AMAZING build experience and that kid is just great! Happy birthday to him (WOW what a gift! Learning side-by-side with the master!). Happy holidays to you and your family and I sincerely thank you for all the learning and contributions to our collective knowledge along the way.
Great birthday present, GG on building it, Joe. And great job to not just Jay, but the whole team.
You the man Jay. Please keep doing what your doing. Great content on every video.
That was cool and adorable! I do think though, that especially for beginners, making a Windows boot drive, installing from it, and then installing the bare minimum of drivers, is also a crucial part of "building a computer".
It's certainly not trivial in difficulty, and the machine doesn't become useful until it's completed.
It's about building not software setup? 🙄
@@loman0071 Building a computer generally means you turn parts into a usable machine. A gaming PC without an OS or graphics driver in it is not usable, as it's main purpose is gaming which is not possible at that point.
@@kazaakas I get that but it's not the point of the content 👍. Jay also stated OS and such still needed doing. 👍
Aside from windows, your pc will literally install all those drivers for you. Probably before you even have time to jump online and find the one you need.
Install windows, connect to your wifi, the pc does the rest
This is one of the main reasons that I love watching this channel!!!! The way that you take care of those that are around you is simply the greatest. What a great way to help others in this Christmas Season!!
I like these videos super chill and good for using to show someone new how to build a PC. Your guest was well mannered and a good learner, he looked like he was really getting something from your teaching. Good to see people working with our youth. Great vid guys!
As a fellow parent, and a fellow home schooler parent at that, I really dig this idea. I may have to copy this idea with my boys here soon. My brother is in need of some better hardware, maybe I can make a solid learning project out of it for their homeschool. Possibly even a couple different ones, got 3 boys myself oldest will be 15 next july. I could use the build and the programming/set up and installations as separate "lessons" .
I taught a friend's 15 year old daughter how to build a computer. Assembly took about 3 sessions anywhere from 2-4 hour increments. Including explanation of the parts and what they do, answering questions, etc. I let her pick out the case and she went with the lian li lancool mesh. Her expression of excitement when all the rgb rainbow puke lights lit up was priceless.
Awesome job Jay, great content and the kid’s reaction was beautiful
One of my favorite videos by far. I've never built a computer and I loved just getting small little tips and tricks along the way.
Happy birthday Joe!
I'm happy for you, this looked like a great experience, and getting to keep the pc when it was done sure looked like a great bonus :D hope your birthday is amazing!
Happy birthday Joe! You did a great job and Jay you are definitely the master! Keep the awesome videos coming!
These motherboards are starting to look so dam nice. No longer have to pay 800 for some crazy motherboard just to get a nice looking one.
For real I'm drooling on the sleek look of that mobo. IDK if it's a great specced board, but damn it looks nice.
@@catbertz Can never know when NZXT is involved as to the specs, but they have a great aesthetic to their brand and they know it.

Excellent Build ! great to see the young ones getting hands on ..
It’s awesome that you’re able to help young people learn how to build and get into this hobby/job that we all are so passionate about! You guys are awesome !

Lucky kid! Enjoy It! Seems like a good great kid. Happy birthday buddy!
Absolutely awesome! Happy birthday big guy
It was just satisfying and fun to see his eyes widen up when Jay told him it's birthday gift for him.
I also built my pc when I was 13, I was confident enough to build it myself thanks to Jay, Linus, and Kyle
pc building 10/10, very fun! would recommend👍
I wish parts were more affordable. It is a great hobby to tinker with
Fantastic Vid! The young fella will remember this all his days. Jay, you are a good man. Pass skills to others.
Joe seems like a very kind and polite young man, it was so heartwarming to see Jay surprise him by saying the PC they've just built together is his surprise birthday gift from his mother. A very thoughtful gift from mom, wrapped up in a truly interesting learning experience - the best kind of present.
His reaction upon hearing this computer was his computer was beautiful. What a lovely video this was to watch, thanks for sharing this.
Joe's reaction was priceless. Great job Joe, Jay, Phil and the team!
The kids face when Jay told him it was his birthday present was priceless 🤣
Loved the look on his face when you told him it was his pc. He did such a great job being only 12, you rock Jay and this was a very generous gesture on your part.
what a great video Jay!, awesome explanation on the build process for the young lad. props to him also! he did a fantastic job. im 31 and only just built a computer several months ago haha. but thanks to your videos among others and youtube in general it was a smooth process for me, the hardest part in my opinion was all the cable management. it was an amazing experience overall , something I would have never thought id be able to accomplish.
Awesome episode, awesome kid, awesome pc! Good to see that big smile on his face 😎👍
Phil, you mad genius. The vibes after the kid says "montage" and your groove kicks in with the tasty views. 😲😎
Happy Birthday Joe and many more to you.Jay love the content and Thank You for doing these kind of videos along with the other ones over the years.Hope you have a great week and thanks again for the content
What a way to explain the parts. Excellent video as always. Happy Holidays from the UK!
Now this is the content I appreciate above all else... something that empowers and excites the next generation! Sure, we oldies will then be competing with them for graphics cards when they start working and getting disposable income.... but still...
If he was talking the whole time that's the tell tale sign he's not listening but the fact he was being quiet, nodding, his head and making small comments shows he was listening and learning, Good job kid.
His reaction at the end was just too wholesome. Such great content!
Awesome vid. Always great to see a build. Kid was fearless.
I liked seeing a more realistically speced system that most people would buy. I personally am a bang for the buck kind of person so I like seeing builds like that.

Awesome build Jay, Happy Birthday Joe. Congrats on the new computer :)
Man im always so happy with how great jay is at teaching and patient/kind. Also with the surprise it's for him was awesome.
I'm really happy to see this because I'm helping an 11 year old through his first build. Donated a 1050ti and 16 gb if ram to the build and can't wait for the rest of the parts so we can BUILD!!! I FIX IT!!
I actually just did this same thing for my nephew recently for his 11th birthday. Old i5 and 1060 3gig, but had him build it with me and then did a "happy birthday, its yours!"

IDK if Phil uses stock beats or makes his own, but the beat on the second montage was sick!
I think he needs to be added to the iFixit promo. He was great!
That was awesome, Jay. Teaching a young person how to build a computer is a fun and rewarding activity. I taught my step-son how to build his first computer and he does all his own work now, and asks me to give it a look after he's done.
The young'en there has a very nice personality, he's polite and attentive when being shown things. His mom must be very proud of him.
Good job.
Loved the look on the kids face when he was told it was his, awesome video and that kid totally deserved it was great to see!

Can confirm the scariest part for most people is the RAM. Had my gf helped me with a build. She was horrified at first when putting the memory in. After some encouragement from me she got comfortable and started really putting her back into it, then I was horrified.
