The Lesser-Known Last Judgment

  • Death, judgment, heaven, and hell-the four last things-are popular enough topics among Christians discussing the end times; but there’s more to these things than just our own personal end. In this video, Fr. Mike explains how, as the Catechism teaches, in the Last Judgment “the ultimate meaning of the whole work of creation and of the entire economy of salvation” will be made known to us (CCC 1040). All the good and evil you and I have done will also become known. Fr. Mike’s perspective on this reality is both fascinating and humbling.
    Fr. Mike is also a presenter in these faith formation programs from Ascension:
    Belonging: Baptism in the Family of God (bit.ly/2rdOFy7)

If you’re not already going, then don’t forget that RCIA is usually necessary to be able to do all the sacraments that you haven’t done (that includes the Eucharist, so please don’t go and receive it before receiving your First Communion officially). John Spinelli God doesn't want you to live your life in fear of Him either. He loves you, rest assured, more than you or anybody could ever understand. We all sin. Every. Single. One. Of. Us. Everybody from the guy that cleans your church to the pope himself. We all sin. Do the best you can and trust that God will help you. Pray for guidance constantly. Ask for help from Him to battle your sin and to help lead you I'm the direction He wants of you. Of course reach out for forgiveness often too. We all need it and God understands that. The sacrament of reconciliation is the most sure fire way of course, but asking for forgiveness yourself is an option too. You have to truly mean it though. Remember it's God you're talking to. He can see through you even if you yourself don't truly understand what you mean. I'm no cleric, trained I'm any way, or any body special, so take it for what it is worth. But that has always been my understanding.

    This is probably the scariest thing I've ever listened to. What then is the point of confession, penance and absolution if one's sins are to be hashed up and rehashed and why suffer purgatory? I converted late in life - pretty close to my sell by date. Most of my friends and guides are cradle-catholics and when I ask questions they can't answer they brush me off with "oh you haven't been a catholic long enough." as if I'm to grow in knowledge by osmosis . So I find your video's Fr Mike, and those of Fr Barron, greatly empowering. And many of the people commenting on various statements and queries have given me much food for thought. I love everything about my "new faith". But I will need time to reflect on all this judgement stuff - 70 years is a long time to accumulate a whole heap of rubbish.

    I keep watching these videos and praise God for them and for Fr Mike. But I am constantly reminded of my sinfulness and that no matter how hard I try I will never be in a state of grace for long, without falling into mortal sin. I feel like my efforts are in vain even though I'm trying. I know I must not be or feel alone in this. Could you all pray for people like me that we may be completely free of (mortal) sin and live life in God's grace? (Confession is kind of difficult to get to where I live so I only manage to go once a year). Thank you for your prayers.

      The Sinnoh Firefly if you can frequent confession more I highly recommend it, but what’s changed my life and kept me out of mortal sins I couldn’t shake was the rosary! Mary has your best interests especially when it comes to purity. Give 15 minutes a day in prayer to the rosary and it will change your spiritual life. Confession, the Eucharist and the rosary.

    • @marcoferreira0223
      @marcoferreira0223 6 лет назад +4

      Thank you Caroline Markey for that wonderful reply and for your kind words! I haven't prayed the rosary in forever, maybe it's time I started again? I can't remember the last time I prayed the rosary, I'm afraid I might've forgotten some of the prayers.... I do pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy more often especially around Lent but lately all I've been doing is praying a decade of the rosary and reading the Scriptures of the day which takes about 20 mins. I seem to pray really slowly (like praying the rosary for me could take up to half an hour) or find myself repeating my prayers because I wasn't concerntrating enough on what I was praying about. I really wish I could go to Confession more often, that would really help, but as I said before it's very difficult where I live. But thank you so much for your reply! I really want to stay free of mortal sin and to continue to live in God's grace!

    • @creedy8612
      @creedy8612 6 лет назад +4

      The Sinnoh Firefly that is where the Virgin Mary is so effective because she is there to keep us chaste. I love the rosary in the car first thing in the morning. There’s also rosary RUclips videos that pray the decades and you pray with them. I put those one when I drive to work. The lovely thing about the rosarynis that it is Jesus’s whole life on a string. The more you say it you will feel the affects of the grace on your life. And with temptation also say a Hail Mary before you fall into sin. Mary has a way of catching you before you fall. So glad I could encourage you! It’s a fight worth fighting. 😀 Godbless .

    • @marcoferreira0223
      @marcoferreira0223 6 лет назад +2

      Caroline Markey you are so right, if ever there was anyone who felt temptation and fought it (and never gave into it), it was Jesus and Mary. So They can help us from falling into sin just by praying a Hail Mary while we're in temptation. But you're also right when you say the more you pray the rosary the more effective it is in our lives. Thank you for the encouragement! God bless you ❤ It's definitely a fight worth fighting - for the salvation of our souls and eternal happiness.

    • @creedy8612
      @creedy8612 6 лет назад

      The Sinnoh Firefly amen to that!!! Remember the temptation is not a sin, acting on it is. I compare it to bodybuilding. You have to mortify the body in order to change it, this is exactly how growing in virtue is. You have to choose to give in or ask for the grace to exercise our free will to say no. The more you do this you get your passions under control. When we sin we become a slave. For me I was like nope I’m done being a slave to my sin, and really compared it to my bodybuilding. The weight room and the diet is the hardest part but to deny my body I grow in resistance to temptation. I grow ! So now even if a box of donuts were sitting there on a very strict bodybuilding prep I can easily say no. Check out Jared Zimmerer. He’s a Catholic dad and husband and bodybuilder! I think you would love his videos!

    Wow. Thats so amazing. So our suffering ( and everyone has suffering ) is not without a reason or a purpose. If we know this and offer it to God, then He can use it in great ways. We probably wont know in this life but we sure will in the next. God can use everything we offer Him, no matter how seemingly small or trivial.

    On the day my mother died I stayed with her and prayed and on her death bed she accepted God. In the early hours of the morning I was awake in a chair next to her with my hand on her. There were no lights on in the room. Then I thought the nurse must have came in and turned the overhead light on because this light was bright! Then I realised what it was it was Gods light so I held my Mother and seen her spirit shaft out the end of her body and a few seconds later I felt her kiss my cheek and she went into the light. I heard an angel reassure me she would be ok and then the light vanished. I felt totally at peace seeing this and thanked God for showing me this. I seen her spirit 2 weeks later about the same time she died and prayed for her again and I could see God wanting me to know she was being looked after. God showed me all this because He wanted to reassure me. God bless!

    Father, would you be able to make a video on the importance of the scapular. I know the Virgin Mary said to wear the scapular and to pray the rosary, but could you maybe talk about why the scapular is so important? Also how does one become enrolled to the brown scapular?

      jay doucet hey, the scapular does not contradict the Gospel. It enriches and enhances it. The story of Simon Stock has the scapular to remind us if the living gospel and NOT to contradict the Gospel.

      jay doucet let me ask but do Catholics say that in order to go to heaven they need Mary? Or are they simply looking at her as part of the body of Christ that honestly would be a soul very close to God. I pondered a little on the Mary love and the Catholic devotion to her until one day I realized I asked myself who outside of Jesus would you place at the top of the amount of great people mentioned in the bible and I started thinking Moses then Peter then Paul until I came to Mary and saw that nobody was more loved by God than Mary - he chose the most pure person to carry Jesus - just imagine there isn't anything more significant history than that. I honor and devote in the same way the Angel told Mary that she was Full of Grace - those words uttered in itself shows the love God had for her - this is partially why Catholics have kept her memory alive. Protestant really ignore that fact as if it was much of just a vessel - but my friend it is not - she is our mother as through her birth to our lord Jesus we have new life. Imagine if the Catholic didn't pick up on this Mary really wouldn't be anything to anyone and that is not how God viewed her..read Matthew 26:13 do Catholic follow this while Protestant really never even discuss Mary

      jay doucet no human can help? Then why pray for each other? Why intercede? Yes God does the work but he doesn't ignore the fact that there are prayers for others. Sorry to disagree with you on this point. This is what Mary is to us

Even though I easily shoud have been dead at least 37 times in my life. No joke. Finally about 3 years ago while praying I got an answer. I also am a dreamer. But I finally got my answer. I was told the answer has always been in my name. Cont.

    When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations[a] will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left... (Mt. 25: 31-33)

    I can assure you, Fr. Mike, if I was low-down on the ladder of Paradise, I'd hate everyone above me; that's natural for me, loving those less than oneself, but also despising those above oneself- that tends to be the overall rule of functions: those above are not even given the first chance, but actively sought to be destroyed due specifically to their place, due to the actions of those in power in *this* life, the only life that really matters, period!

    I’m Catholic, there are 2 Judgments, the 1st is on whether or not you believe in Jesus Christ, meaning you have Faith that in Our Lords Death & Resurrection our Sin debt is Paid & that we are reconciled & Saved to God our Father. The Second Judgement is your rewards, how you lived your life as a Christian ? This is where we Receive our Rewards.

    You ever just sit down with someone and find yourself in that internal space where your entire being feels soul. Where every word they say just has you surrendered in absolute. This is how I feel watching this and hearing his words. I have loved so many of Fr.Mike's videos, where I have felt a depth of knowing. However this one here... is divinely beautiful. So beautiful. I feel as though I've just been kissed on the cheek by God. - Bless you Father!

    He also entertains us by helping us to see it while we're still 'alive' on Earth sometimes too. I look back at all the times I was so upset about things not happening the way I wanted them to and laugh (usually) because now I understand that when his answers were 'no' it was because he had something better waiting for me.

    the small sins,and the bigger sins,and even the unforgiven sins are all life lessons that we need to learn.
    life to me is lessons and also what we all can do with our lives. i have tough lessons to learn and still are learning. i left the catholic church when in my late teens to early 20's.,because i did not understand the faith and why we do this and that as catholics. i attended catholic lessons and first communion and confirmation growing up. but i did not understand why. but now i have come back to my given faith which is roman catholic. and even though i am 52 years old, i still know most of the prayers. also i was never taught how to pray the roseary, in a way i was ingorant of my faith because who needs to pray in confession,and why not just go to the father? but these are the lessons i am learning. also i had to explain why we have jesus on the cross while other have just a cross. we have jesus on the cross in catholic church is to remind us of the price jesus paid for us. that is why we have jesus on the cross. also it helps with vision and help people to realise that he is alive and also suffered a brutal death on the cross. it is sad we have different faiths and each faith has thier pros and cons of that faith. sda,which i used to go to put down catholics. and i left the sda church because it bothered me to have the last judgement and also they have ellen g. white as thier prohet. and preaching bout last days all the time! well there is more to the bible than revelations and daniel. but all in all i came back to my catholic faith where i belong. it is never to late to serve God no matter what faith you have. right now i have fully undrstand now why catholics have the faith that they do. also saints are impirant also, because they can act on our behalf with God and help guide us. right now i feel at peace and know God loves me even though i went through diffinerent faiths to understand God's love and to make better choices and yes lessons that all of us still have to learn. God is our teacher and we are his students learning on how to live,forgive,even yourself. and help others when needed. when your brother or sister falls,help them up,and guide them that God can help and we all have issues on earth to learn and help others no matter what. even the evil people needs God's mercy and forgiveness. but somes it is always not the case.
    Tank you Fr. mike for an insightful video! p.s. maybe if you can please do a viedo on the roseary and explain how to pray with it and for others. Thanks! :) God Bless and Peace be with you. :)

    What some fail to realize is that despite all the fun and laughter that Father Mike displays, he's still getting his message across and the sole purpose of doing so too. True he's humorous and so wonderful to listen too, but keep in mind that he's a dedicated and ordained priest out of choice, and that too many who don't realize just what that takes. Clearly if not biased or blind one is able to see that he's guided by the Holy Spirit, and that the Holy Spirit is in Father Mike. One cannot be doing what he does if it wasn't trust me... Never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit or underplay it 'cause it's a gift of God one that's free but one paid for dearly as well., and that's WHO working through father Mike!
    Another amazing and inspiring video video father Mike, God bless and keep you always doing what you do so well.. So looking forward to each and everyone of them.
