Welcome to this weeks video.
On this episode we celebrate a religious feast that dates back to 1718. This important celebration is called Festa De Sao Mateus, which takes place every year in the coastal vineyard village of Sao Mateus on Pico Island Azores.
We will experience the procession, which pays homage to the village and the apostle Saint Matthew. You will also meet some people, taste some famous treats like local favas and sweet bread.

Another wonderful video, thanks for sharing! So sad we missed a chance to experience the feast ourselves by just a few days, our mouths were watering just looking at all the sweet bread. I congratulate all the ladies of S. Mateus who did all the hard work putting the feast together.

Beautiful video love the celebration in the Azores....where on Pico is the Regatta held? We were in a small town where the Regatta was held a few years ago .... there is a local boat at the dock named "Canada"...beautiful place beautiful people!!..viv

Wonderful to see the festivities on the island. You left at the right time, starting to cool down a bit, we’re about 10 degrees cooler than the Azores lately. I was wondering, does all the fresh water on the island come from springs? Love watching the channel, keep smiling 🙂
Hey Darren, glad you enjoyed the video. Don't quote me on this, but I think it is from springs/rain water, maybe some wells...not 100% sure. Temperature at the moment; day around 23 or so, night 20's. Take care Darren!

Our comment comes late but ... we've been back in Germany for a week now and unfortunately everyday life here has us firmly in its grip again. It was nice at Festa de São Mateus and it fills us with a little longing (Or as the Portuguese say, Saudade) to watch your video. Oh yes, and it was almost impossible not to get a bread.
