I have a 2012 Infiniti G37 with the sunroof link problem well mine's was one of the ones water got down in my body control marginal it caused all kinds of electronic problems like the windows wouldn't go down sunroof wouldn't work killing my battery would recognize my key.. but I fixed it myself had to get a new one and have my keys program to it so you're saying fluid got into the lines you might want to get that BCM check out.. it could have caused a short-circuit because I took mines apart didn't see no problems no burn nothing but it was still messed up
You may need to start changing out canbus cables for the comm errors ... I had a C230 and the cam actuators had the same issue where fluid would get pushed into the wire loom ,, solution was change the loom...
It nice to see you keep the truck
Auto Auction Rebuilds hey man I own two Chrysler crossfires a 2004 and a 2008 anything you need just go to www.crossfireforum.org
I hate they used torx bolts on everything I didn't strip the drain plug I stripped few on throttle body. Had to cut the heads off and like you don't have a lift you can't put force on them cramped up under there. Why Mercedes?
Randy, disconnect both battery terminals and jump them together and turn headlights on to drain and reset all memory for 15 minutes, the reconnect all and. Test drive
yes , thats what we in the transmission world call a brain dead, worth a shot
Jim baker you’d actually be surprised at how many problems I’ve solved on my crossfire from disconnect the battery and resetting the cars defaults
@@DreamDrivenLifestyle yes for sure ,i know , we call it brain dead , no joke , a lot of fords have big issues until you brain dead them , even if you clear the codes , some cars its a must , i been building transmissions for 30 years , we come across this stuff years ago
I tried it and it still driving in 2nd gear 🤦🏽♂️.. i have no clues what else it can be.

love the fact that you will tackle anything which makes your videos extra special. You are very fortunate to have such a great fan base with lots of knowledge and suggestions. You are a winner all around, keep up the good work
Total agree this is excellent watching content just what we want, can we have more of this sort of thing please. I just find this type of content viewing utterly compulsive.
However I'm personally finding your co-part walk arounds are getting a little bit samie and tedious now and I believe your finding them tedious to do as well. Can you inject a little more interest please perhaps by bring back in the total-wreck viewing again.
If all else fails call Eric at SMA he probably has some resources or knowlege I always refer to his videos
Do not worry you are almost home free my guy! I had this SAME exact issue with a e320 wagon. Stuck in limp mode for 1 MONTH! I would not give up. Getting SAME CODE! It was the speed sensor too because I could see the damage to it on the old conducor plate. My TCM module was covered in oil as well. Got a new TCM from a u pull it junk yard that was in perfect shape for 20 bucks. Cheapie conductor plate (but well reviewed $150) so after the new conductor plate you need to take to a indi benz garage or Benz (don't do that $$) and have them re calibrate the computer. Many people will tell you that you can reset the computer but the reality is, it takes special software. I wasted a lot of time, you can't do it. In Fort Lauderdale at an indi garage I paid 120 bucks for the computer reflashing or whatever they did. It took them about 20 or 30 minutes and it was like magic. When done my car drove PERFECTLY.
Now this being said, if this still does not get you out of limp mode than I'm sorry to tell you that you may need a new gear switch selector as well. I did. It was a 450 dollar part (new condition but good luck finding a used one). Easy installation.
I fixed it using My $3K Autel MaxiSys Elite. The issue was my Chrysler software wasn't playing nice with the MB computers. I told my scanner the car was a W203 and it instantly reset the EGS. No more issue! Thanks for the comment man.
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds Oh wow, very interesting. Good deal!
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds hopefully we'll get a video update!
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds I hope you recorded the video. We will love to see it being fixed
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds Great example of what happens when you don't give up. Good job Mr Randy
I've used FCP Euro often for my BWM 1990 535i.
Thanks for the vid, Randy, love it! :)
Also, thanks for bringing us along on this journey.
The Crossfire is essentially a rebodied MB SLK. Try using your scanner set for MB SLK instead of Chrysler.
Hope this helps, fault codes stored on the Engine Contol Unit (ECU), you get them from a generic OBD II scanner. To properly troubleshoot the transmission problem on your Mercedes-Benz, you will need a diagnostic scanner that can retrieve the fault codes from the transmission control unit (TCU). The end process will be to reset the TCU, I do not know if the scanner your using will reset the codes after you swapped out the Transmission Valve Body Plate usually a Mercedes-Benz dealer or perhaps a Chrysler dealer would reset the TCU.
As you know that oil is like water in the electrical system. Need to clean out the connector to the transmission. But that wire has to be replaced. OH BOY!!! Thanks for sharing your experience with this project.
Thanks for the information and help on where to get these parts randy. I’m getting ready to service my Dodge Charger with the same transmission 👍😃
Great show I'm definitely loving the channel keep up the great work
great parts at a great site randy just picked up a few parts thanks again
Google: crossfire transmission (part number here) wiring diagram
The transmission will remain in limp mode until the hard faults in the tcm are cleared with a mercedes specific scantool. Disconnecting the battery will NOT clear any tcm fault codes in older mercedes such as this one. I would suggest getting a Foxwell NT520 pro with 38 pin multiplexer to clear the tcm fault codes. It also includes the regular OBDII adapter too. Its the best scanner for older mercedes at the lowest cost compared to Xentry DAS or STAR. You're doing great, keep it up!
Thanks man. I cleared the codes with my Autel MaxiSys Elite. All is well now.
Nice technique draining the pan. That worked well. I've heard that are great to deal with for parts.
Amazing video Randy very good and reliable information.
It shifted before you played with it if I recall. In that case I would go backwards. Drain fluid with a cheese cloth to strain it, so it can be used again. Take the electronics apart again, assemble together. Test drive and find out if fixed. If not, disassemble again, use the old parts, put it all back together and test drive. Also the dipstick they sent is universal. Check the instructions for the correct level and correct temp to check. Check it hot. They will shift weird, and throw incorrect ratio if low. Good luck
Kudos for being possibly the only youtuber who is able to make ads and promos watchable, you say it as it is which is refreshing. 👍
Awesome content Randy. Looking forward to the update video, good luck brother 👌🏻❄️
Hey Randy!glad you're back.
Randy. I hope thats your name. Chuck here, I've been a Volvo and BMW mechanic for 25yrs. I now own a 2006 Crossfire Its also in limp mode, So I took it to a Transmission shop and with their 13k scanner I don't know the brand. but it was capable of reading any Vehicle being a trans shop, And scanned my car with Mercedes soft ware and got code 600which is lost communication with electronic gear shift module (SLA) Which I believe stands for shift lever actuator The module is not sending the signal to TCM. With a simple obd 2 scanner all I get is simple po705, I believe yours has the same problem. And after its replaced it must be cleared with a compatible scanner that has Benz software. Or as I will do take it to a transmission shop and have them remove the hard limp mode code. Its the only way. The shift lever module used is about $160. ebay. When I get mine done I'll let you know. Hang in there Brother.
it's like my fears of the 5r55s on my 05 stang gt Randy, it runs like a
scalded dog right now but i know about the servos sliding through an
aluminum case and wearing down the channels and yada yada.....scares the
hell out of me. nice job to this point brother, i'm sure you'll figure it out.
I haven’t watched yet. But I hope it works! I just did 5his on my e430
Thank you so much for this video I literally fixed the faulty ignition switch on my slk 320 now on to changing the conductor plate
greetings from Tlaxcala, Mexico
My first car was a 56 no post Belair Chevy. I built it up, put a 396 in it, and had it painted a midnight blue with diamond flakes in it. Black diamond pleated interior with Hurst shifter.
It was gorgeous.
Sold it and bought a 66 GTO 389 three 2 barrel carbs, 4 speed.
Where u took the pan of the wiring connections was coved in oil and it drip on your sleeve clean them all as well great vid matey
Hi Rangy. Man that Autel maxi is sweet! I want, no, i need one! Thanks for another great video.
You dah man keep the car content coming
Love your videos keep up the good work
Randy
Great interesting content.
If the wiring harness is contaminated with transmission fluid.
That could cause on going electronic problems.
Cheers
I have watched all of these Crossfire videos and have thoroughly enjoyed them and been enlightened. Kudos to you Randy for great content. Now...as a guy who only does oil changes, spark plugs and brake pads, do I want to buy a Crossfire at all? I love the way they look and I have my eye on a couple of low milage cars in very good condition. Both always garaged and under 60,000 miles. But as much as I love the way they look...I DO NOT WANT SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO NEED WORK OR HAVE TO BE TOWED TO A MECHANIC ON A REGULAR BASIS. I've been driving Toyotas, Hondas and Mazdas for the last forty years and for the most part they are trouble free. I am a "car guy" and I like maintaining and driving them....but not pouring lots of money into a dark hole. And to be honest, I have always heard these are a bit troublesome. Comments from anyone are welcome. And the next time I need something....FCP Euro is where I'll shop. Keep on Randy!
Hi Randy I did go to FCP Euro website. It a nice crossfire pretty color. Randy you cover your grey hair pretty good from some of those car's
Don't let it beat you Randy......keep at it, you'll get there i'm sure!
If the trans fluid made it into cabin maybe the entire harness needs to be cleaned, maybe connectors at transmission have fluid inside and causing errors?
Good luck you'll solve it. It's good watching you tackling these issues. Keep up the good work.
I was going to suggest a mityvac oil extractor to suction the fluid from the dipstick hole they work great!
Randy!! Where have you been?? We've missed you brother!!
I understand your frustration I hope you find the solution
Hey,
Great job on replacing the conductor plate! I'm sorry it still not shifting.
When a scanner is having difficulty communicating,Or reading codes it's
Usually (the vehicle's computer) (compatibility) (wires) needs checking.
Or just go to the Chrysler dealer.
Good luck
Hey randy next time you have a stuck drain plug get your 3/8 impact gun and give the drain plug a couple of zaps ... it seems like the vibration from the impact helps get it loose. ..
FCP Euro are great! I buy from them all the time.
Yes daylight and hopefully warmer. Should get a QuickJacks Car Lift would help give you some space and safer. Best wishes.
Im confident you will find the problem, even if you have to take it to a dealer for them to diagnose and you come back to fix it.
Randy those led shop lights that were at the house, you should install a few in your current garage just to help out with lighting!
I've owned 4 M Class Mercedes and always thought I'd have to do this to atleast one of em but So far I've been really lucky. Lol
Good work
Hey Randy, you really should invest in a cheap 12v oil drain pump. I use mine all the time for engine oil changes but in situations like this with a stuck drain valve, its invaluable.
How about getting the oscilloscope out and measure signals? My guess is that they would all be in a sort of 5V or 12V range. Might also be worth checking all groundings, you never know what that oil might have caused.
I was reading that fluid from that trans. in mb w211 can flow to computer through cable and ruin it
unfortunately that is the case...must change computer, cables also, as I remember...mb design...and I drive one with 425000km but made for Swiss export:)
try looking at it as a Mercedes
My older c230 I bought it knowing that it had a bad transmission,it wouldn’t shift past 2nd replaced transmission still had the same exact issue with the new/used transmission, then I replaced the transmission control module TCM and it fixed everything and I have been driving the car for 11 years
Did you test the coils to see if they work with 12v for a clicking sound
2004 Chrysler Crossfire Transmission Codes P0715. Got a P0715 code from my 2004Chrysler Crossfire indicating a bad speed sensor. This generally means a bad conductor plate in the automatic transmission. Fix is to replace the conductor plate and then have the trans codes reset by a dealer.
The Transmission drain bolt is a 5mm hex and not a T30 Torx and use a impact to take it out..
Well dang Randy. I’m pretty sure you had the ratchet going the wrong way on that transmission drain plug. Lol. Happens to the best of us
Thx for the video
I have same transmission & already changed the plate but still in limp mode, how can I know the faulty plate , plz
Communicate with it as a Mercedes not a Chrysler Crossfire, this will then communicate with the Transmission Module. Clear the Hard faults. Its stuck in gear until you do this.
Would it help if you disconnect the battery and have the key turned to drain the computer completely to do a force reset? Doesn't hurt to give it a shot
Like the music.
Randy, these gearboxes require exact oil levels. Not enough causes all sorts of issues. I would recommend your get the oil level exactly correct before you go any further!
Did you make sure that the selector shafter was in place when installed the valve body. fluid will not travel at all if it sliped out.
Great video Randy! Sorry this didn't fix it. Maybe reach out to Monkey Wrench Mike. He's the Mercedes guy. He may have a tip or two after all the work he's done on his transmissions. I'll keep my fingers crossed until then...
Could there be a bad Solenoid? Any way to test them?
how did you filled up the trany with fluid, using a pump or automatic trany fluid changer?
You are having to much fun!
hello from Tijuana Baja
Hey randy , hola from los cabos México did try to put the transmission in relearn mode ??
Another thing you can do for a stripped Pan bolt is add a new drain port if you know how to weld I suggest a JIT fitting or a quick connection.
Randy you didn't make a video like this since long time. What makes your channel interesting is this type of detailed videos where you show step by step how you fix stuff.. Check your videos in the last a few months and you'll agree with me. We want this type of videos more..
The turn signal on my dads 74 Ford gathered condensation. Solution?? Drill 2 small holes in the plastic. Vented the condensation.
Hang in there you will figure it out you do good work keep up the good job what you did to this point look like you did a good job keep up the good work sometimes you win some sometimes you don't but I think you will win this one love you bye-bye
You need the automatic transmission module - I have had to replace several over the year
Hey did you figure it out? If not what codes are you receiving
Did you try shifting it manually?
What’s up with the transmission in the crossbar
That’s is awesome 😎 I’m working on my 2014 charger with the same trany. And I was wondering if I hade to replace the conductor plate The code is P0741
Let Tim enjoy working on the wiring!
Solus scanner can clear code randy after code is cleared it will function I've done a dozen or so conductor plates
Also Make sure the plug on the conductor plate is seated all the way and none of the pins are out of alignment.
Randy, isn't it "righty tightly, lefty loosey"? The first time you tried to take off the transmission drain plug you were tightening it. I ran into trouble when I didn't realize I was trying to remove some left-hand threaded bolts.
The body module is usually the one that dies. Checks the pins are still connected to the circuit board in the module. use a magnifying glass. I've had them and the ones in the ABS computer separate from the circuit board. Have you got the socket part of the trans plug (with the 7mm screw) In all the way and the right "o rings" in the right Position. We used to coat the outside of it and the "o rings" in Vaseline to make sure they go all the way in. From memory it only goes in in one position. good luck and if all else fails take it to some one who deals with these regularly who has a Bosch scanner. .
When are you going to get a duramax?
How's the cold front ? It just got cold as hell down here in TX...
At SEMA there was an amazing looking crossfire converted to off road/baja SUV. It looked amazing cool.
Hmmm, that sucks. Not sure if you're familiar with DiagnoseDan, but he seems to be excellent at diagnosing European car problems. He looked at a car, either a BMW or Mercedes which had been to several shops including a dealer where many items were replaced still having the same problem and he tracked it down to a bad passenger door handle. When he removed the handle you could see where there was residue from the bad sensor. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Randy love the videos! I’m 13 and can’t wait to do this when I’m older! I collect and fix Apple products like phones so that’s a start😁
Good job man, check out Luis Rossman on here, you'll love it, really helpful.
I do that too. Would u be interested in trading?
QuickTech Definitely shoot me a message on insta @wb_apple_collection
The p0715 deals with a speed sensor. Try disconnecting the battery 1st to reset the computer.
hello AAR, Good morning; after 4 years, what was your solution, because I have the same problem on SLK 230 r170....,,,??? thank you for your videos...
I bought a e320cdi that won't drive no matter if its in D or R or tip tronic. What could I possibly check
Randy I like how the Crossfire is turning out, keep it up!
Also, how’s the house doing?
The house is really getting there! Thanks man.
Great video! What happened to the Z convertible?
Sold that a loooong time ago.
valve body and or harness will cause this issue
I had a Dodge 2005 Cummings that did the same thing, I drop the pan and replace all the Sensors 3 of them, put new trans filter in , it drove like new again
For a car to go out of limp mode I have had to replace the gas pedal cuz there a Sensor in the pedal
Check the pump pressure with a guage or remove 1 of the lines and pump out the fluid
there should be a 5 volt reference signal at every sensor in the car if any sensor fails it can bring down the high speed network
an easy method is checking each senor by unplugging one at a time and try to check codes
Might’ve over sharpened a bit. Or new camera ?
yeah my 08 cherokee had that problem conductor plates are common problems.. i changed trans fluid thought helped nope.. then realized electrical compments are junk.
Try logging in as a Mercedes Benz e or c class on the odb reader
Bro that sucks man you will figure it out I have faith
Hi Randy,
This is Mark from the UK, I have just had exactly the same problem with my 2002 ML 500 with 2 error codes. One for the speed sensor and one for a faulty solenoid, the solenoid i don't believe was actually faulty in the end. After changing the conductor plate and replacing all solenoids with used ones, my car started without the engine check light coming on but on second start up the light came on. In the end i took my car to a local independant Merc specialist and they resolved the problem with a software update through the control module which took 20 minutes. My car is now driving perfectly for last 3 days and i have noticed that the gear changes are even smoother than before. Hope this helps.
PS. Did you check that you refilled with the full oil amount. 5.5Ltrs for a flush and 8 ltrs since you removed the pressure plate.
