The other way is to put a jumper on the low pressure switch to make the compressor come on , but the way Randy did it ( add gas until pressure comes up) works too, just takes more time.
Remember the old wallflowers song from the late 1990s? We can drive it home with one headlight? Lol... What have been the perfect theme song for this video
You got a real good deal on the Corvette Randy !! It leaves plenty of room to make a nice little profit for you in the end when you decide it's time to sell it ! Keep us posted on the progress ! Have a good day man and be safe 🙏
The abs light you can fix. Start the car , step on the brakes, delete the code from the dic. Have someone tap the abs pump while you let up the brakes. Might have to do it a few times.
It is an Amazing deal! 4 K for a running corvette with some mods that needs alittle TLC to be a sweet ride! Hell ya, sigh me up I want that deal and I won’t complain once !
The Corvette I had had wiring problems ,mice had chewed wires under the dash, inside the doors, and even more places ,but I found them all and fixed them. Check your fuses too maybe some are blown.
Randy, that piece looks more like it was a part of the head light cover,it had a piece of trim, the fender didn't seem to have any trim in that damage part of the fender.
I think that will be a rock. Solid fun car once you're finished with it and when it's painted will look great even though I was never a huge fan of that body style, it's still should turn out to be a good. Car
In NC Just need the headlights fixed No hood needed to drive it on the road.If Worried about the battery make sure its bolted down with chain and pad lock.
I love your C5 corvette . It will be fantastic to watch you fix it up. i am looking forward to it, but just a thought. Maybe it would be cheaper to get it rapped than painted in a camouflage colour. Anyway, best wishes to you, Randy 👍 🚘🇬🇧🇺🇸
The alternator is bad or you could just have a bad ground. Everything was wiped from the computer when the battery went dead so it all needs to reset. The C5 goes crazy when there is a charging issue. The relays may have been removed for the traction control. It won't do a burnout with the traction control on and the way to shut it off is to remove two relays. Enjoy the vette. I have a 2001 double black convertible c5. I won a couple local car shows with it. Love that car and I always get compliments when I drive it. Find someone parting out a c5 locally. You will get the parts a lot cheaper. You got a good deal on the c5. The hard top is rare, there are a few more convertibles and many more couples. Good luck, keep it and just enjoy driving it they are great cars to run around in. Look for a bad ground! That is a common problem with the c5 corvettes. Before you buy any parts get the charging issue fixed first and then reset all the codes to see what comes back up then. I had TPMS failure codes and other codes popping when my battery went bad or was low. Once I replaced the battery and it was charging well, all the codes disappeared. Good luck and you are in it cheap enough that you should keep it at least for a while. But the more you drive it the more you will love it, once all the little details are fixed.
I just experienced the same thing on ac in a nissan Pathfinder, orfice tube was clogged which was part of the dryer, replaced with new dryer, still had high pressure on the low side and low pressure on the high side, bad compressor, replaced compressor and now blows cold.
About the brake lamp switch fault: It's most likely the switch itself; had that, too. (It was a VW, not a Corvette) The brake lights worked fine but the computer didn't recognize it and it threw a code and the ABS light was on. Replace the switch and you should be good to go.
You ever think of getting a go pro bychance? You can put it on your head using a band or something while at the auction yard, or if you are in a car, mount it on the dashboard.
He's had go pro's and found that they always overheat when he's doing his walkarounds. I've had that same problem. I think there are probably kits he could get eventually for the camera he uses, I think a shoulder mount style would really improve the game.
14.9 Volts is overcharging Most GM cars Battery state should be around 13.0V to 13.8V. I had a 1999 DeVille that did that and it was overcharging and going into limp mode.
To do this truly on a budget, I'd find a silver fender to match the factory paint, replace the pop-up lights with the fixed ones so there is no paint needed on the headlight cover and then take the red hood and either wrap it with a carbon fiber wrap or paint it matte black. She's modified already so go for broke here.
All of my cars have Walmart batteries from the Lexus LX, Lexus GX, Tundra to the 300ZX etc. buy their best battery and save at least $75-100 over competitors and Walmarts are everywhere if you need to exchange under the 3 yr warranty🎉
Hi Randy, I just got done watching your Corvette video. I think you made a good deal on it man and I can’t wait to see your next video on it to see what you do with it. I don’t guess I’ll talk to you later man have a good day and have a good evening CM and man.
The infamous C5 DIC charge fault. Check & clean the main battery cable connection & the fusible link ring terminals at the starter and look over the fusible links on the starter BAT lug for damage and or frayed wires
orifice tube clogged most likely on the AC and the car does seem In good shape other then the ALT and traction control which could be A wheel speed sensor. Nice care and good video man.
just a fyi regarding the anti-lock and traction control lights on. the C5 has an issue with the BCM going bad. certain years can be fixed, others your only choice is to find a good used. most people just live with it.
Great video Randy I think you love buying these cheap cars and working on them and it makes great content for your videos. You might be having a bad day with your complaints about your cars! Tell me if I’m wrong? Thanks Ed
Maybe look at the spark plugs and see if they need to be switched out it might be part of the miss fire i wouldn't be surprised if one of them are bad for how long it'll been sitting
Have a Walmart battery now in my Passat. The factory battery died 5 years ago and it's a 2013 Since I have family at the dealership they replaced it under warranty even though it was way out. It died after 2 years. Never had a problem with a Wal-Mart battery except for the price increases everyone is dealing with.
That ABS light with traction control may well be the dreaded ABS module fault. It is a common failure for C5s. If it turns out to be this module, be very careful as there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there that will take your module for “rebuild” and tell you it’s not rebuildable, but then swap it with one that is not rebuildable and keep yours to fix and sell. Don’t ask me how I know. They currently sell as high as $1800. You can try to do it yourself, it’s not that hard, but if it doesn’t work, then it has to be sent out.
Since when can freon be installed w/o the motor running?
It’s always been that way. If it’s empty it doesn’t need to be running to bring the pressure up to the cans pressure.
The other way is to put a jumper on the low pressure switch to make the compressor come on , but the way Randy did it ( add gas until pressure comes up) works too, just takes more time.
I do it every time.
Best part @12:23 when you giving it the beans ...hell yeah shifting them gears...love it man..felt like I was driving laughing like you were..💯💯😁😁
I'm glad you showed us the "fireman's "head games".He is definitely tired of people in general, plus driving like he was doing, will get him in trouble.
Randy, UNC, Luckys uncle bought your Gray Astro EXT. He really likes the bed in the back. He's going to put flow masters and rims $ tires on.
When that corvettte is finished, that will be so much fun. I hope you enjoy it, a Corvette is on my bucket list to drive.
Totally worth fixing. Great looking car!
Remember the old wallflowers song from the late 1990s? We can drive it home with one headlight? Lol... What have been the perfect theme song for this video
I second this.
I love seeing the engine as you’re driving. Maybe a glass hood billion dollar idea😂
I think it was a GREAT deal & you are doing justice for the old girl with parts & paint. Another great job Randy.
Like the new camera position for the drive.
Hope you and your family had a good vacation in Indiana. This vette needs a little love and i think it will be fine.
that was months ago.
You got a real good deal on the Corvette Randy !! It leaves plenty of room to make a nice little profit for you in the end when you decide it's time to sell it ! Keep us posted on the progress ! Have a good day man and be safe 🙏
Transmission sounds smooth 😊
CHEK rear tranny fluids😊😊
Lights work perfect on the Corvette
I learned something new today, I guess that can keep it from overcharging as well.
Dalton from Pole Barn Garage and now you Randy!! I think I'm addicted to Corvettes!!
his thing was the jaguar.
The abs light you can fix. Start the car , step on the brakes, delete the code from the dic. Have someone tap the abs pump while you let up the brakes. Might have to do it a few times.

The red hood and silver body look cool.
Its a vet for $4000 can't go wrong keep pushing blessings brother
Randy, that piece looks more like it was a part of the head light cover,it had a piece of trim, the fender didn't seem to have any trim in that damage part of the fender.
Randy, another great video. I always look forward to seeing your videos. You never disappoint us.keep up the excellent work.😂

When you use an aftermarket alternator it will sometimes say charging system fault but not to worry it’s charging
Love the camera view

I’ve always wanted an FRC corvette
I like the camera on windshield should do more often

It looks like a new alternator. I have a C5. I've been told to have the alternator rebuilt and not replaced because the electrical system is finnicky.
Where I live. We would never have a speed limit of 65 on that road. You're lucky for that..
I have been looking for a C5 in that price range.
Hello Randy. Getting ready to see if the 2000 Chevrolet Corvette C5 will run and drive. It runs and drives.
i love the c5 fixed roof cars great deal ,my son sold his silver 2004 one for 24,000, his was a z06 with lingenfelter mods on it

Even the value battery is good
Actually Walmart batteries are really good
@@searches04CPU might need to learn driving profiles charging system messing everything up
There are about a half dozen sizes they sell in their value line for $69 it's the cheapest battery out there. I still have ones from 2018 I'm using
@@kevinmcnamara7344 cripes our r89s batts for GM. Cars lasted 4yrs. For 39bucks in 1972======cheeper if you went to pep boy's
The Corvette even with needing what it does I think you did well with that purchase

It’s hard to kill a Corvette. They are fun to drive whether going on a long cruise or just a grocery run.
orifice tube clogged most likely on the AC and the car does seem In good shape other then the ALT and traction control which could be A wheel speed sensor. Nice care and good video man.
AC! Im no expert but attached to the system are a lowpressure switch which can be easily switched out! Take a look in that direction!
just a fyi regarding the anti-lock and traction control lights on. the C5 has an issue with the BCM going bad. certain years can be fixed, others your only choice is to find a good used. most people just live with it.
On the c5 you have to use a factory gm alternator the regulator in the knockoffs doesn’t play well with the computer
Great video Randy
I think you love buying these cheap cars and working on them and it makes great content for your videos. You might be having a bad day with your complaints about your cars!
Tell me if I’m wrong?
Thanks Ed
The AC system requires oil too. The amount and type of oil can only can be found on sticker
You got a great deal on the C5. With what you have to do to it you should still make a profit when you sell it.
Hey Randy, you should put it intake
I’ll check the swap meets here for parts. They usually always have corvette parts
The Corvette is a keeper.
Heheh... Corvette parts are always expensive. A proper front license plate bracket for a C6 is over $100 for example. I think you got a great deal.
That voltage is kind of high. Maybe that's why the code. You should try revving the engine while testing the voltage as well.
win imo looks like fun, sounds good, love the 6sp
Maybe look at the spark plugs and see if they need to be switched out it might be part of the miss fire i wouldn't be surprised if one of them are bad for how long it'll been sitting
I think it was a great deal even though it has a few issues.Nothing that you can't fix
One Headlight is by the Wallflowers.
Lucky wheelz ans dealz bought your astro van!!!
Drain the old gas, get it on the lift, check under the loose parts, and make it great again!!
I love my 2000 z51 6spd too.
Good manual car to teach nick how to drive
Well that was interesting! Keep it up randy we love it ❤
MWM THIS WOULD BE A GOOD 👍 IDEA TO PAINT THE CAR ELCTRIC BLUE
you mean corvette coupe usually a hatchback or convertible. amc rambler nice car too.
Both cars are very nice to drive after Randy fix them up....the corvette should be a good one 👍

Scrap life garage on RUclips does a lot of corvette scrapping

Old gas and a replacement battery. Get some fresh gas, reset all codes, drive it 25-30 miles. See what’s left after that.
C5 great car
what fell off the windscreen when you hit 65? at about 7:40
A good deal indeed!
I think it was a great deal
Good deal on the Vette
don't paint it. let it have odd colors similar to general mayhem from roadkill and then straight pipe it. :D
100/100 😊
I have a headlight complete ,and a hood
Use his email that's on his drop down descriptions. He's got the hood, but only has one headlight he's found and they want a mint for it.

You need to see if your condenser fan is running for the AC
