This is a can bus system, the dongle is just a resistor to smooth the communication signal. The bike comes in the white map, when you plug the map switch in it switches to green. Whichever map is selected will stay selected until its changed. (except for the first time the switch is plugged in)

Can you just unplug the dongle to switch maps without the actual button switch?

The switch is required, or someone elses switch just to change maps.
Dongle is the green with 2 stroke,opposite with four stroke,u have to buy the switch for more power map
