- (U-ACT) Unhoused Activists Community Team protests the eviction of one of their members, Keith Petrulis, at 9th Square, New Haven, Connecticut on June 8, 2023. On August 7th, less than two months after the eviction, Keith died alone in the rain on State Street in New Haven.
On April 10, 2023, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), published a study that showed that involuntary displacement of people experiencing homelessness may cause significant spikes in mortality.

Dear U-ACT friends,
It is with deep sadness that I write to tell you that U-ACT leader, Keith Petrulis, passed away this morning. Many of you have likely heard the news already. Keith gave his heart and soul to U-ACT and our movement. He was a friend to many of us in U-ACT.
We will use the full meeting on Wednesday, August 9th at 11:00 at 266 State Street to talk about Keith and to plan how we can be part of memorializing the life of our brother.
There will be grief counselors at 266 this afternoon, if anyone needs someone to talk to in the time of sadness and loss.
Please take care of yourselves and each other today and in the days to come.
Billy

Hi. How can I join U-ACT? I live in Connecticut (born & raised).
Did they identify the dead body found outside the soup kitchen on Monday Aug 7, 2023 ?
Kieth - the un-housed man featured in this video - died less than two months after he lost the place he’d lived for two years at 9th Square. Kieth was a U-ACT leader; he will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Rest in peace Kieth.

@@RobertMenefee What was the cause of death?
@@imthebadguy3225The police haven’t said yet. I know Kieth had a lot of health problems including sleep apena.
@@RobertMenefee You think he might have overdosed?
I knew Kieth. I never saw him use drugs. I never saw Kieth high or inebriated. I know he had a lot of health issues including sleep apnea. Untreated sleep apnea can be fatal. We won’t know how he died until the authorities tell us.

I’ve been homeless before and I’m not proud of how we as a people treat people because of being poor.
You’re right; all people have the human right to housing. Shame on us.
@@RobertMenefeeAre you deleting comments?
@@ahmaudarberywasaviolentkle8094No, I re-edit the video, making it shorter and easier to view. I did it twice. When I loaded the new edit, and deleted the old edits, I lost the comments and the likes.
