Dutch is actually as close to English as you'll get, as it is one of the most used remaining West Germanic languages. You can get a little bit closer, Frisian (Dutch dialect) is more closely resembling English than Dutch. Anglo-Frisian are the category English and Frisian fall in to. German itself is a tad further away, but still a West Germanic language. Scandinavian languages as well, they are also West Germanic.. This is the reason why so many people in these countries very easily speak English next to their own language.
I thought his friend was translating (CC text) for us because he couldn't speak English: he should do an English audio overdub for every video in English section/channel, waaayyy better than CC. Makes a world of difference....
Great to be abled to only listen and watch, instead of having to read the whole time. The video editing was extremely well this time. The editing of the other videos is extremely nice as well, but this time I recognized it even more. 👌😁
For what its worth. I love hearing you speak in your native language. I am an American and I think (showing my ignorance here, I think it is dutch?) sounds beautiful. That being said. Nice work on this video. Thanks for always working to produce content we can consume too.
Thanks for all of these videos! I have no problem with subtitles, besides, the best episodes show that happy excited dog and I don't expect it to speak English. 😊
Even though you speak English really well, the presentation seems to have lost a bit of 'life', doesn't seem as spontaneous and natural as when you are talking in Dutch. Still enjoyed it, but I don't mind the subtitles because your videos are usually really good fun.
I agree.... BUT, I think as they continue with it, if they do, that will come back. The thought overhead of doing it in English is probably enormous right at the moment. With practice I'm sure it'll get easier! :)
That may be true but English is not his first language. If he's thinking in Dutch he has to immediately translate that to English. That "lag" causes the lost of spontaneity you mention. He's doing a great job.
I have been reading the comments for half an hour…and Emiel your audience loves it! You are now at 754K subscribers you will for sure loose some but will gain the rest of the world. Kudos Emiel…from a fellow Brabo and fellow engineer…! Love the way you explain things it is like going back to school an dusting off the old knowledge. Some are sceptical that you will get this engine running again…they should know better! You are going to fix it and it will run…and within the year you can race two tanks on the neighbours field! Houdoe!
I appreciate you guys going through the hassle of doing this video in English. This is an awesome project and dont mind reading the captions. Thanks again
Hele goede video. Very good video to make it in English. This way you'll reach the 1M subs faster.
I have watched your video for a while now and being a commercial mechanic can figure out what you are doing but brilliant to have it in English keep it up boys love what you do .
I thought I was dreaming when you first started talking, then I thought I have watched enough of your videos that I learned Dutch lol. I love your English thank you so much
Being a simplistic MonoLingual person, I loved this content, as i could spend a lot more time, watching what you were doing, rather than concentrating on the Subtitles, Although whichever format you pursue, i will be watching as i find your videos very entertaining, and educational. Thank You
I’m a native English speaker, and I really appreciate the English right off the bat, but you do whatever ever is easiest for you. I don’t care either way if it’s subtitled or not. I will still watch. Cheers from Canada
Gotta say I’m loving this new style of video format, with the English for the international viewers, the cutting and pacing of the video and the fun to-do list overlay. Well done folks! 👍🏼
Big THANK YOU from the Pacific Northwest USA for the English version!! Given how bad the Tank Engine was and your experience fixing it, you guys should do well on the BMP!
Go so through! 😜
Thank you very much for the English translation, very helpful, i did watch the original but wasn't too sure what was broken or not, this has been a great help.
Loved it, i didn't have to speed read, I will start to watch more if this continues. love the tank rebuilds. It's not every person job. but you do very excellent job of explaining how it's put together what take to fix it.
Greetings from Texas! I love your videos, and while I didn't really mind having to look at the translations, I have to say it's wonderful to just watch you talk, and your English is perfect! Looking forward to many more of your videos!
Appreciate the thought for us English speaking types, but I don't mind watching videos with captions turned on. It's all part of the content creators original style, so to me part of the video felt missing from this. Love the videos, love the channel. Keep up the hard work regardless. You guys are still entertaining and creative regardless of the videos language.
I'm Finnish so I don't have any problem having subtitles, so for me it doesn't matter if you continue with Dutch or English. But I know of one big country where subtitles are frowned upon on, not because they can't read, just that they are not used to them. My opinion is to switch to English and try to do some collabs with some English language channels to get a boost (I loved the collabs with Garage54, obviously not English language, but has a dubbed channel for that). I really do think you would get more views.
I really enjoyed watching this especially as it was in english but I have been watching your one's that have subtitles and love them, the rebuild and the crazy ones very good content give me more please. I like how different manufacturers have different ideas and methods to get the same result, being a lateral thinker I can appreciate how they came up with their setups.
This was so confusing as I had the captions turned on right away and did not realize you were speaking English while i was trying to read Dutch. that was fun Cheers
Thanks for making an English video! You sound much more confident with your English skills than when you last made English videos (still in the old shop before the fire, around the time when Wipcar(?) and the Sherrif Mondeo were still a thing ;))
i remember learning to recognize these, and where to train my m60a3 tank sights on silhouettes of these in the 80's when i was in the army. kinda cool to see what the inside looks like.
Thanks for the English language version. It is good to see you supporting the minority of people throughout the world who can't speak Dutch. :-) :-) As one of these unfortunate people, I wholeheartedly support your experiment. Thank You again.
Big thanks for the English summery episode 👍 Helps us English speakers keep up with the project and not ask so many inane questions or post already answered questions.
I love it! First of all, the video was very nicely edited! I think you will reach a lot more viewers this way. I'm Dutch, but I don't mind watching your videos in English. If you ask me: Keep doing it like this!!
As a Belgian, I can say the pronunciation sounds super dutch. However, the channel has great potential and using English is definitely the best way to unlock that potential. keep it up! And it would be a great idea to follow threw.

Finally! I was watching your videos for a long time now, but without subtitle because I like to watch what you are doing even tough I didn't understood a word :) I just googled: "hey mention, top giligiligaige" :D but going English is a good decision, at least for the rest of the word who doesn't understand Dutch, so thanks!
First of all, I'm from The Netherlands. As for me, it doesn't matter whether you talk Dutch or English. Most of us can understand both. I can tell though that you struggle to speak English fluently. It will get better once you do this more often. Also the quality of the video is higher because you show in more detail, but quicker because you edit the B-roll (shots without voice) onto the A-roll (the video track with the main audio) instead of using mostly A-roll. This makes for a way smoother video. For people from outside the Netherlands, doing the videos in English opens up a broader community and it opens up new ways to grow. Keep it up!
What a pleasant surprise, the editing has a lot more effort in it and I can finally understand what you say hahaha. It feels a bit weird because I was used to reading the subtitles, but I think we can all agree that its for the better. Awesome work!! I also wanted to say that I find quite interesting to learn how some mechanical parts work, seeing the different ways engineers used to solve problems is very intriguing.
Thanks you very much for the English version, kinda trip when I did understanded you xD Can you haut keep saying hello in Dutch please? Kinda one of my favorite moments of the day! Greetings from Swiss!
Absolutely love this new format. Also the way it's being presented. I have no issues with English, but maybe it's a good idea to add Dutch subtitles this time? The automatic generated subtitles are waaaaay off. Keep up the good work guys!
The automatically generated English subtitles in the translations from Dutch aren't very good either. Hasn't stopped me watching the show for three years though. :D
We proberen iets nieuws! Wat vind je er van?
New experiment! What do you think?
Love it!
I think the KABOOM special efekt needs to be a thing in every video🤣
really appreciate it, makes it a lot more enjoyable!
Loved every second of it. I finally can understand everything :D
There were always subtitles in english, you know?
😂😂
Appreciate the effort for your foreign subs!
I'm not used to you speaking English! I swear I was beginning to understand Dutch haha
If u understand German and English its not that hard to understand Dutch 😂

what if we learned Dutch subconsciously after all these videos?
