We had a very similar generator on the farm I was raised on. It sounded like it wanted to die every time we used it. It lasted the whole time we owned the farm. It's still in use today lol! It will never die.
I worked on those when serving my apprenticeship. Those a 871,1271,453 etc etc . I would check the gen coupling before running it again. I have seen a few where the coupling came adrift under load. it wasn't pretty.
2:25 Okay. Years ago, i drove a GM General, semi-tractor hauling crude oil (with condensate in it- to facilitate easier pipeline flow). While spout top-loading, the engine started RUNNING IN REVERSE rotation ! It must have got a whiff of some gaseous product, while loading, into the air cleaner. So, i ran down the ladder, threw my jacket over the muffler ( now the air INTAKE) and succeeded in stopping it. Good luck, all ! thanks, Mr. Milo = work safe !
It's not an actually copy :) 4-71 engines were acquired by Lend-Lease in WW2 period, but not licensed, so USSR decided to start production by its own plant and engineers. Some parts(like cylinder sleeves) were slightly simplified due to lack of technology, you know what i'm about :) Four-cylinder version was called YaAZ-204(and 206 for six-cylinder one) for Yaroslavsky Avtomobilny Zavod, Automotive Plant in the city of Yaroslavl. Up to end of production in late 1980s it was typical malfunction of injector seals to leak fuel into oil, which leads to oil thinnage and loss of lubricating ability with consequent main and rod journal bearing damage, or to oil level rising until crankcase breathing system separator starts to feed intake with lots of condensed oil causing runaway. Pick any one what you like more :) In video there is YaAZ-204G version, G for Generator, it has different RPM governor and has no tachometer drive on the rear end of balance shaft. Also in video there's no mechanical intake air cut-off device on blower(to stop runaway engine), so this one is old and rare.
English subs! I've missed being able to understand what you're saying so much since you stopped, maybe less technical things that aren't about the ludicrously difficult Tank restoration is easier for your Translators to do! Cable management on that russian panel, top notch!
Hey Thanks for shearing, Just a thought. I have used a product called Marvel Mystery Oil in the past to add to your oil it is a very fine lubricant that penetrates the very tight areas if the engine helping to prevent sticky valves and such. I hope this will help in your keeping your upper Head valve assembly lubricated so this doesn't happen. I hope this will help. I have used it to free sticky valves and keep them free for many a years. From a 71 year old gear head, been working on engines seance I was 8, and learned this for old timers when I was young, just add a quart to your oil once you have freed the valve assembly. Have a great day, live long and prosper.
Да, чтобы срисовать лендлизовский американский генератор пришлось постараться. Интересно, резьбы и болты остались дюймовые или переделали хотябы на метрические…

It's a Russian adaptation of the Detroit Diesel 71 series. In world war II, as part of the Lend-Lease program to help supply the allies with equipment quickly, we basically went over and set up an entire factory line in Russia to produce Detroit 4-71 engines. After the war, the YaAZ factory modified the design a little, converting it to metric fasteners and making a few changes to make the engine more suitable for the conditions it would be used under. They also made a version of the 6-71 as well (makes sense, since it's literally the same engine with 2 additional cylinders)
@@MobMarked not really. even the small 2 stroke motors. the fire more often. and need to rev higher for their powerband but that is because of the way they work. Detroit utilizes exhuast valves and air scavange system (the roots blower which is commonly misunderstood, it doesnt make boost, under some conditions it can but usually on the governor you might see 1psi.)
The two stroke engines sound like they are turning twice the RPM. The 471 is loud. I had one on a generator before I retired. I would not want to be close to it with no muffler.
At the beginning of 1947, the Yaroslavl Motor Plant mastered the production of a modified (slightly simplified and with a new, liquid instead of an electric torch heating system) two-stroke diesel engine - a copy of the American GMC "4-71" (4 cylinders with a volume of 71 cubic inches each), developed at the end 1930s.[1]

400 Voltage "military" not residential it would need stepdown transformer and all brushes and belts replaced, it would be better for like a shopping mall.
It is residential voltage. It is a 3 phase generator but it has a neutral connection so you can just use one 230 volt phase or share your 230 volt loads across phases.

Generator's spinning as smooth as a bag of bricks there, but that's probably well within soviet specs... :P

not a detroit but a newer generator, had an end bearing blow out... now THAT, is not pretty. nearly caught the fuel tank on fire.

Good old 2 valve 4-71 with trunk type pistons. You always prime through the secondary fuel filter by passing the fuel pump. Sounds good

You can make better with 50% ATF and 50% acetone, though you have to keep in a golden rod oil can.

Milo, in USA you can send oil in for analysis about 25 USD. It is very informative.
Haven't seen a video from you since you set the turret without the gun on the tank you were working on.
