    I'm French & had the chance to live in the U.S for 7 years. All I can say is Americans are super welcoming & extremely nice, I felt welcomed with open arms & safe for most of the time. I had the chance to go to an American school, learn English & earned a diploma. As a French living abroad, Americans were very intrigued & asked a lot of questions about where I'm from. I feel like some Americans do not know a lot about the world in general but they are very curious & will not shy away to bombard you with questions 😂. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to get a green card, so when my visa expired, I had to go back to France, but I'm extremely grateful for the 7 years I've spent in the U.S & I will always have love for my fellow Americans. Even though I don't have the U.S citizenship, I strongly feel American at heart. 🇺🇸🇫🇷

      To know America is to live in America, and to love America is to live in America. No one can give an opinion if you've never been. I can't comment on France or French people, because I've never been, and I don't know any French people.
      Furthermore, to really know America is to see all of it. We are different from state to state and county to county. I live in California, and have only been to Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Hawaii and Colorado. These states are very different from mine. Even northern California is different from southern.
      I have never been to the Pacific North West, the Midwest, the east coast or the South. So even I cannot completely describe the United States. And if I can't then how can a French person who's never been too all 50 states comment on Americans?

    I'm french and I think overall french people love Americans as people, we are not big fans of the hegemony and international affairs. I would say that if you are a people lover, people in France will be big fans of you. Overall, from my experience, Americans have been the friendliest people on earth. US things I don't like and many French as well are: the dumbing-down of culture through the US media(even though there are many amazing US productions), the time is money culture, the "bigger is better" mindset, everything has to be fast and right away. We admire Americans for their personalities outgoing, smiling, you guys are soooo friendly (and you should be proud of that!), you make people feel so welcome in stores whereas in France I easily feel like I'm a bother and I'm not welcome. For me when I go to the US, it's like I'm breathing. We have much to learn from Americans on how to be happier, because overall we're not that happy despite all the good things we do have. I like a mix of American and French mindset.

Perhaps if we had a smaller country with less states/regions, we would concern ourselves more with the geography of those abroad. France only has 27 states and many neighbors due to the country rich density that exists in Europe, thereby motivating them to learn more about those around them and overseas. America has 50 states and quite a few other territories. Plus, we have few large neighbors, Canada and Mexico and a limited amount of island neighbors as well.
      To sum up, Europeans ponder geography more because their nations are smaller, less sectionally divided (fewer states) and they are motivated by the surplus of neighbors and others that are in close proximity.

    A Canadian here. I think Americans have contributed more of today's culture of the world. Americans have brought the internet / music industry (US market that launched rock, hiphop etc - then the Brits followed in the 60s) / Hollywood / fashion (yes, European fashion brands such as Gucci, LVMH, and Versace etc wouldn't have survived without the US market in the 70s and 80s - and the US market is the ones that enabled these brands) / sports (ESPN, Nike, NFL, ML, NBA) / SNS / Apple & Google & Amazon. I think the US have been very influential without even thinking about it...and the world kind of followed.

I haven't been to Europe but from all these videos, most, if not all of them bash on Americans. The majority seem to hate us which sucks, a lot of us are good people. Canadian's actually think they are "superior to us" and they are taught that in college. Look at the vids.

      Funny as I watched the video I thought the same thing. The French have never liked us. Trust me I know first hand. My uncle married a war bride from France after WW 2. Up until the day she died she never particularly had any affinity for Americans nor did her family who came to visit. I never understood what my Uncle Pat saw in her.

      @deeinfl5600 3 года назад

      @JF CREACH I was born well after she was married to my great uncle. Obviously you didn’t read the post too carefully. She was a war bride which meant she married my great uncle right after WW 2 ended. I had no preconceived ideas about her or her French relatives since I was a child who grew up in her presence. I can draw from personal experience how I and my other cousins were treated. She was boorish and thought she was better than everyone. Her family was the same way. All they ever did was put down the US. Always compared everything here to how much better it was done in France. She would bring her own food to our big Italian Sunday dinners because it wasn’t sophisticated enough for her. She was down right rude and insulting; just like her family. Her many family members who visited over the years were just as snobbish which was odd because they came from a blue collar family. It had nothing to do with my family. Everyone was welcome with open arms. There were many people in the neighborhood who would come to my great grandparents home for a cup of coffee or drop in for dinner. The home was always filled with people. Obviously it was my great aunt who had the problem.

      @@deeinfl5600 The way you picture the French as something else or that they think they're "better then anyone" is true but inaccurate.
      She didn't seem quite so nice to you... There are bad apples in every countries.
      But also, let me defend my country a bit, there is a cultural difference overall. The Americans are more easygoing then the french it's a fact. It's not hate, at all, we might seem cold and harsh but it's just the way we interact with people. For example we never really say "something is great" we rather say "it's not bad". France has a history 2000 years of violence and blood and it's one of the oldest nations to ever exist on this earth. Just look at the map where France is situated, and tell yourself how we managed to make this nation exist for such a long time next to extremely good military giants. Even our anthem is full of blood, we know war and chaos better then most countries. The way we speak, and interact, hand gesture, and the sounds we make might show that in our culture. And we are really proud of it. Just like you might be proud of being from the USA. And that is fair, really.
      I just have to say. We don't hate the USA, in contrary, we hate everyone equally but it's our way to show love. Cheers from France, to our friends in the USA.

It's probably why France is still the most visited country in the world with about 90 million tourists every year. Maybe the ones who come there are all masochistics, i guess. This "rude French" thing is an Anglo US invention and is nothing but a pile of B.S. It's called cultural differences. Most of the French are more reserved than loud Anglosaxons who shout and yell every 5 minutes for anything, but are probably more open minded than many other nationalities. As for Parisians, they are normal people like elsewhere. Like in any major world capitals, a lot of people deal with harsh daily life probems, and are stressed. Go in NYC or London, and enjoy. Individual people and crowds are 2 different things, when one take the time to communicate. Many, forget, too, that countries are not theme parks. Most of US folks don't know anything outside their borders, and think that their rules are the norm everywhere, when in fact it's the complete opposite. US are not even 5 % of the world population, 330 million out of an earth population of about 8 billion. In most places all over the world, US are considered nothing special. A place like any other. Try to buy plane tickets, to defintively refresh your minds. Pathetic, and boring.
