I have been have this issue where the SSD keeps freezing up the system, you could be browsing the internet and get browser not responding or text disappears when typing and system freezes or hangs. Audio stutters and PC stutters are common. There are many reason why this happens, In my case it was due to SSD Hanging/Freezing/Slowing down the PC, I found some useful information online that will solved the problem slow solid state drive problem by Disable Intel Link Power Management

My pc completly freezes with everything like mouse and keyboard and if it happens while watching a video (also freezes at random times) it would just make a buzzing noise

@@mariabensalem6125 nope it got even worse my psu died and when I finally replaced it after 2 days something else died too (I think it's the motherboard this time)
Edit: but I doubt it has anything to do with the freezing problem
@@iiggnii9023 does it have any relation with the signal card? Bcz when it freezes and do thqt noise the wifi disconnect and become unable to connect again

@Calamity nope I have a amd cpu and a gtx 1070 but I think it might be the hdd since it all started a few days after I changed it

I had the issues that you highlighted Brian,and ended up having to reformat, thank you for this information if the problems reoccur.
Did the format solved the problem?
If you reformat your computer, will microsoft word, powerpoint and etc will still be there? If not, how can i get them again
This worked perfectly for me. I spent weeks trying to figure out why my PC was freezing for a few seconds every few minutes. Nice job.
I had mini frezzes (~1s) where video and audio kinda stuttered and I tried so much, like literally everything I found online for such a problem but nothing solved it.
I now have the AHCI Link Power Management on 'active' and my PC is living a healthy happy life again!

Thank you so much for putting this out here! I couldn't pinpoint the root cause nor when it started exactly but that reg file fixed it after the reboot.
Just like you I was cursed with this freezing problem...until now, this fix worked great. No more freezing and hanging up on FB and other sites as well. I thought there was something wrong with the PC. All better now, thank you for your work...

Thank you so much for all the help...! I was struggling for around 3 months to figure out what was going wrong,,, I was getting a freeze screen followed by a "whea_uncorrectable_error". Thank you so much! I followed your advice a few months ago and have been seeing how it's been going before commenting. Happy to say it has resolved the issue I was having with the PC crashing.
It's kind of annoying that this stuff isn't done automatically in windows 10, considering they have minor updates that come out once a week. SSD's have been the preferred choice for quite a while.

You are a lifesaver. Ive built my pc two weeks ago with r5 2600 and 2060 super. I thought the cpu was malfunctioning. And I switch from HDD to SSD to boot but still it kept freezing to the point where it shut down by itself and the blue screen error appeared over and over again.
It has been 24 hrs since I’ve used this fix, everything is running normally. Thank you so much for this video. I hope no weird errors are gonna happen in the near future cos I’m planning to make this pc last for at least 7 years.
Thanks, so far this seems to have fixed the problem for me. Was getting really annoying, past 2 days at work constant freezing/stuttering when doing anything really. Now I can listen to music and work again :D

You are a wallet saver! I was so frustrated with my 3-month-old Lenovo that I was ready to scrap it and buy a new laptop just because of this freezing issue. The first fix with downloading the "AHCI Link Power Management - HIPM/DIPM." seems to have worked. My laptop only had one power setting (of course! Grrr!!!!) so I had to watch another video to add high performance, but it seems to have fixed the problem. Thank you so much for sharing this fix.
Thanks so much for sharing this! The first method seems to give you the choice of different modes of LPM including disabled and the second method seems to disable LPM completely. Is there any point to applying the second fix if you apply the first and set "active mode" which means "Neither HIPM or DIPM allowed. Link power management is not used"?

My laptop completely freezes (keyboard, screen, mouse, touchpad,etc.), it disconnects from the WiFi and it makes a "Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" and "glitched out" sounds

I have the same symptoms and I did all that you say in the video and the problem persists but when I open the task manager I see that any application I have at that time increases the use of the CPU up to 90% then goes down within a few seconds this happens especially with the File Explorer.
What could it be?

The first fix is only for SATA? Just curious because I have a SSD m2 Nvme and sometimes it freezes... was wondering if it would work for that (or not?)

OMG, I have suffered with this issue for a couple of months or so now and I have tried all sorts of things to work out what was causing the issue, and fix it. I've recently spent hours trying to trace it, and was on the verge of replacing both m.2 SSD's and doing a complete re-install of Windows 10, and starting again.
I have only just made the changes suggested on the video and the system seems better already ....much better - possibly fixed. I really hope so.

My laptop kept freezing on me really randomly (while watching youtube, while afk, while making a document, etc)
I was really on the edge of slamming my fist on the keyboard(laptop).
Googled other fixes of random freezes but nothing worked.
After I tried this fix, the random freezes went away.
I never thought it would be a power option issue...
Saved my pc, my money, and me(mentally).
How about I got my brand new desktop.
Just very random PC literally stops working - the creen and the sounds remains stuttering.
Need to reset it via power in order to run again?

I used to experienced freezing (~3-5 seconds) for some time uncomfortably frequently. It appears it sorted itself out, and the last time I experienced it was about 2 days ago. Next time it happens I will try the solution in the video. Thanks, Brian.

What solution did you find? Mine freezes for 3 seconds after every 10 / 15 minutes ....and works normal again.....and sometimes the softwares I am working on get frezed and closed automatically!
I was wondering if you could blow up these boxes or windows when showing us what to do, because even after clicking to full screen, I need a magnifying glass to work out what your pointing to and what things to change. Also I don't have the AHCI under power options.

thank you for these amazing tips i used everything of it my pc freezed up when i was editing video's it's very annoying when you want to edit your video so i hope this fixes the problem :)

How did this happened??
I assume the laptop was working right and then it started to freeze, right?
How/when was that setting changed, or was it an update that changed the behavior???
for me it happened with the update..

Thanks so much! I'm praying this will work!! I've been dealing with this issue for2 1/2 years. I sim race and it freezes the sim and my VR headset and when I come out on the other side I'm most often piled into the wall or wrecked some other drivers. For me it has been happening every 60 minutes from the time I reboot my computer. It's like clockwork. None of the Windows logs ever show any issues!! I've even put in a faster SSD, but still nothing. I've done all the obvious stuff, USB Power management and all that, but I've never seen anything like what you just showed me. Fingers crossed and thanks for some hope!!
Do you know what could be causing it for an HDD computer. I have HDD and this EXACT same thing is happening with my pc, down to the wire of what you said, precisely. I just bought this laptop from HP, it started doing the freezing within 2 hrs of having it out of the box. This is my second laptop from them in the last 2 months. The first one had an issue with a black screen popping up randomly, now this issue with the freezing with the replacement. I am at my wits end as I don't want to return this laptop now too. The process takes too long waiting for another replacement and quite frankly I don't even know if I want another Windows PC, too many issues - but I don't have the money for a MAC and need a good laptop now - not later. Any advice or help is appreciated.
I should also mention I have run memory diagnostic tests, hardware tests, anti virus, changed settings in all browsers, disabled all add ons, deleted several apps I don't use that were hogging memory, etc. Calling HP is a last resort, they're tech department is hard to communicate with.
You can try ( ubantu ) operating system instead of windows , I was facing the same problem on my laptop and just installed Ubuntu , Now my laptop is working fine from last 3 days. It's windows problem , I know this is not a solution for the problem but at least my laptop is now working fine and I can use it freely. I am going to use ubantu until I get the proper solution for this windows problem. You should give it a try.

I have an alienware 17 R5 from 2018, I had no issues prior to updating my alienware drivers via the alienware updater on 12-21-19, one of the drivers updated was Intel Rapid Storage Technology, however, since then i've experienced symptoms like you said, random freezes/hangs for anywhere from 5-20 seconds. When typing in skype it's like my keystrokes need to catch up with what i'm typing...etc I don't have a restore point to fix this issue, will your fixes be what I need? or is it something related to Intel RST? Alienware is next to no help with this issue and I would love to get to the bottom of it.
Hello have you figured it out? I dont have same hw but i have updated Intel rapid storage tech. as well and it didnt cross my mind that this can be issue. Thanks for pointing it out, i have tried to disable Link power management in Performance tab, if that wont work ill try to install older version. Never had such problems

Hi, I'm getting a error massage in Registry Editor.
It says, cannot import the fixed.reg. and its not a Registry script. You can only import binary Registry files from within the Registry editor.
Any advice?

some programs on my pc just freezez after some time. and it cant close and then i have to use task manager to close it. It happens on OBS studio, Shotcut , Flimora? and probaly some more. please help. :(
Has worked so far! My new HP Z2 G4 was deadlocking every 30 minutes...so far...no freezing in an hour! THANK YOU!!! Saved me from sending the entire thing back to Newegg and/or freaking out and very depressed because couldn't figure out if I was going to have to start pulling CPU fans and etc out or what! If it freezes in a few minutes...guess I'll be back to erase this but...(*crosses fingers*)...so far, so good! A MILLION THANKS!! Edit: :((( ~~>Well, it kept it from freezing...for 3 hours! Brilliant! I was tearing my hair out. I was about to wipe my system and reinstall. This has saved me from that horror!
EDIT: This solution seemed to work for a short time, but the freezing issue continues.

@@KrisPanatsia In my case, I had a wd ndme ssd as drive c: and a toshiba mechanical drive as d:. I finally determined it was the mechanical drive that was causing my machine to hang. I replaced d: with a wd 3.5" ssd and got my system stable again.
@@bobwilliams8349 so the drive that didn't have the windows installed on caused the problem ??? (also did your sound box sometimes disconnect and reconnect while hanging ?)
@@zarifulislamjoy It's been too long now, but I don't recall sound issues being involved. As soon as the flaky Toshiba mechanical drive was replaced with a WD 3.5 SSD, stability returned. Thankfully, I had an external backup drive that I was able to recover the data from the old Toshiba and restore to the new SSD. Things have been ok since that time.
@@bobwilliams8349 Bro, is your notebook still working fine? I have the same problem and I suspect my toshiba HDD. I will remove the HD to see if the problem resolves itself. My computer freezes out of nowhere in random situations

For the Fix SSD, I am told I can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor. What does that mean?

HI Brian, thanks for another great video. My question is will this work to fix the same issue with mechanical hard drive. I am in the process of changing to and SSD so will need this information but for now this is driving me crazy with my HDD drive. Sure hope you say yes it will work. Thank you.

Hi Brian, i got some other issue. Maybe you reconize it. When enabling 2nd monitor (tv through hdmi) the video plays half the speed, when disable dual screen everything works fine... I am using the gpu in the Intel 4460 and using W10 1903, updated intel drivers...

I was playing a game then my pc shut down and it gave me a error it said that my cpu was over heating it went to 80 degrees Celsius so I fixed it then when I type my pin to go in my pc it freezes sometimes or if I leave it for like 5 seconds it freezes so I restart my pc and nothing happens so I reinstalled windows and it’s still happening
Also i used Active for my computer and added it in using CMD elevated prompt rather than Lowest.
So from what i understand, Active is for Ultimate Performance/Highest Performance computers/desktop?
Lowest is for Laptops/notebooks? Anything else in between is kinda iffy...
I have a gaming laptop, so on what state would you recommend me to set my parameter ? Active or Lowest? I am really getting confused here. Thank you in advance. :)
So this is a ssd problem 100%? because when I game it randomly freezes even my opera gx browser most times most of my programs won't even respond discord has been freezing as I type basically everything you said that you have had a issue with is happening right now but I don't understand because I just did a full reformat on my entire pc and cleaned my ssd and hdd
i already change my HDD to SSD & add another 4gb RAM to make it 8gb,but i still have frezzing problem from time to time, specially on start up and after start up.what do you think the problem is?

Yeah it looks and acts like a hardware issue.
Pc worked fine today came home and tried to play and it froze I had to shut my pc off with button. and then I was playing minecraft and it froze for a couple seconds. Is this the same issue everyone else is having. I've had the 2004 update for a week and it's just now starting to freeze. I did notice input lag and lagging during games. Is this 2004update what's causing it?
Wish this would sort my problem. Similar but happens after fresh install of Windows 10 or Linux Mint. Or any other OS . Only gives me a very small time window to check for updates, install a program or browser of choice etc etc then totally freezes up . Unable to use mouse or keyboard.

I've recently built my own PC and a couple of weeks after I installed windows 10 I started to get these totally random freezes every few days. I sincerely hope this solves the issue as I have a Samsung SSD with my OS as well, and I'm dreading the idea of reinstalling stuff or even returning hardware and getting a replacement. Thanks!

For the people who are searching for reference:
My issue was:
The screen freezes for few seconds, goes black for few seconds and comes back. Sometimes it goes to blue screen of death (BSOD). Almost all the time, not specific to any applications or conditions.
My Laptop:
Lenovo Legion Y530 (Intel+Nvidia Graphics card, Windows in SSD)

ive used this same laptop running windows 7 ultimate ---> easy freaking peasey ----> never had a reboot and / or shut down out of its own ----> this all started when i upgrated to 10 pro for free -----------------> and it has never been the same -----> nothing but reboots for no reason at all -----> and having a system thats trying to shut me out ------> if that makes any sense at all ..... sigh
If we change where Windows 10 is installed and put it on another hard drive will it work?
Thanks for doing the research and finding as fix as I have notice this from time to time but not sure if my Hard Crashes are related as yes today's computers are full of RGB and RGB = Headaches as iCUE software as every time I install it it would crash my PC randomly so I ham hopping this fix may be related. I would go without iCUE but I would not be able to control the fan speed on my AIO Cooler without it as I was down to one solution is to go with another company. SO any fixes is worth tr try as who know it may be related as my main drive is a Samsung 970 EVO
this is so weird, I check on msi afterburner if my cpu, gpu ram have problem and I see nothing. no drop,etc. But my pc still stutter buzz when I use google??? Im still able to play games with no problems
