I must say, the big choice of if Luminary should abandon the “Mordegon” timeline, especially after his friends went through so much critical development, is extremely well-handled. You feel this...wrongness and sorrow not through a difficulty spike or losing abilities, you are saying goodbye to a world that you came to know and love, even through the hardships.
I like to think that everything after "the incident in the heart of Iggdrassil" from the first "timeline" just didn't happen, because the tall guy (I don't remember the name) said that you need to break the time itself. So the "new timeline" is the same, and you have memories from a lost past, a past that never existed. I like think so.

I thought Sylvando's segment with his soldiers of smile was one of the best examples of character development, and just to be re-written 😒. It really was a kick to the stomach. Dragon Quest is a series that holds a special place in my heart, especially DQ9, so finding out that the artist for DQ fucking died made me lose sleep and almost cry myself to sleep. And I've been loudly sobbing nonstop for the past half an hour with this blasting in my ears. Thank you for everything, Mr. Toriyama. Rest in peace, my dude...

I played 7 as my first dragon quest game like 2-3 years ago and this was my second game, this song was really nostalgic for me. Played in some of the saddest moments.

For years she was in her own little shell, even admitting that she was too scared to voice her own opinion in one of your party talks. Once she lost her sister, she realized that she really had to straighten up and take her job as the Luminary's protector seriously. She cut her hair as a sign of a new beginning, and with that, Veronica's spirit rewarded her with her own powers. With her newfound resolve, Serena outdid Rab for the rest of Act 2, having the best of both Magical Might and Magical Mending. I was really sad when the Luminary went back in time to prevent all this from happening. I know it was for a good cause, but Veronica's death was good sacrifice and really struck my heart. Having all that retconned made it feel like it was for nothing. If I had a choice, I would stay in the Luminary's OG timeline, with the friends that he truly made. The friends that he went on this grand quest with.
everyone's talking about the main quest, but I think of the mermaid and Kai every time I hear this song. such a well executed side story. edit : thank you akira toriyama. your art is what drew me to playing this amazing game.

**Act 2 spoilers** Erik instantly panicing when the Veronica illusion started to fade away really got to me. He did NOT take that well at all... he got his memory and sister back but lost a found sister in the process... dude cant catch a break. The way he slammed the tree after hurt even more... my poor heart, man. *"NO!"*
Currently replaying the game after many years of slowly forgetting what happeend throughout the plot of it and when I got to this part it hurt. Since I played DQ11 all those years ago I've played so many other JRPGs and have learned to appreciate the art of digital storytelling, so seeing this scene again after all these years really hit hard.
Almost teared up hearing this again from Dragon Quest VII. Played in some pretty sad and emotional parts in that game. Hearing it remastered and placed in some pretty big story parts of XI S was absolutely fantastic! This song oozes with nostalgia

Just started playing Dragon Warrior VII as it never came to the UK. Loved hearing this pipe up shortly after the game's opening chapter. Poor old Matilda. I can tell VII is shaping up to be a special experience as well. All the games in this series are treasures.

It's hard to describe his music with words, but every single score he composed suits perfectly with Dragon Quest, like Inviting Village from DQVI, it gives a dreamy feeling, which perfectly match the core theme of the game that revolves around the world of illusion.
And the theme where a new party joins you. It gives out a feeling of satisfactory, a conclusion to a conflict and forging of a new friendship, especially if the new party is one that had conflict with the protagonists prior to joining the party, e.g.: Terry from VI and Hendrik from XI.
I'm glad he's gone, and not for any personal opinions he held either. He phoned it in with DQ11's OST. 1 Song for every single outside location? Good riddance.
Eleven lived a pretty tragic life. Spoilers ahead: -He was separated from his family at birth -Both of his hometowns were destroyed (Cobblestone later turned into a warzone) -Also separated from his adoptive mother and childhood friend (who were assumed dead in act 1) -Lost Veronica in act 2 - *Witnessed his birth father's death* -Left his friends and family behind to create a better timeline Doesn't beat the protagonist from 5's hardships, but it comes close.

@@Thrifty032781 he didn’t erase the original timeline. we never see the timeline from act 1 and 2 again, but we do know that the second timeline in act 3 wasn’t erased after serenica went back in time. the time glow ball thingy doesn’t undo one specific timeline, it branches it out into multiple paths. come to think of it, that might be wrong, because we don’t know if the post credits scene with erdwick from dq3 takes place in the serenica and erdwin timeline or the act 3 timeline. man this timeline stuff is confusing.

Dragon Quest 7 still has the saddest stories and quest of the whole saga. No suprise they reused this song for some of the best parts of Dragon Quest XI.

It should be given a small sidequest after Luminary met his father again in the alternate timeline with suddenly the gloomnivore one last strike against Luminary which prompting all of his allies to try to awaken him from his slumber. There they might met with their counterpart from original timeline that allows them to "upgrade" their skill board while at the same time found out why the Luminary decided to travel to the alternate timeline. This Ost played during the original timeline party member parting ways forever with Luminary during their last goodbye while at the same time encouraging him to never stray on his decision.
One day scientists will discover why people can't just enjoy music, and instead they feel the unrequested necessity to write spoilers of the story of the game.
Spoiler… But I gotta ask. When Veronica died, wasn’t it like a few months passed before her body was found? Shouldn’t it be decomposing already or something?
Spoiler Dragon Quest takes a fairy tale approach to a lot of things, so realism is sometimes sidelined to present events in an artistic manner. Her body fades into motes of light after being discovered, similar to how monsters disappear into a wispy smoke when defeated. As far as we know, bodies in the DQ universe don't decompose the same way they do in the real world.
