Would love a masterclass on cantonese sauces from Daddy Lau! My favorite is ginger and scallion oil sauce which I can make myself, but I think a lot of people would love to learn how easy it is to make and how delicious it is on steamed chicken or fish! I would like to learn more how to make various dipping sauces using hot mustard, soy sauce, vinegar or chili, and also sweet and sour sauce for pork or chicken.

Your dad’s teaching techniques are awesome. How he imparts his knowledge, how he remembers to reassure the viewer that if you do not have an ingredient, it’s ok, how he subtly tells you that the fancy thermometer, you have…”we do not cook like that” is absolutely hilarious! My dad was also from the Guangdong province and migrated to the Caribbean but alas he died when I was very young and so the culture and connections to China were lost. I am elated to have stumbled upon this channel and the fact that I can recreate these dishes at home with no prior culinary experience is testimony that your team effort in producing these videos is Herculean! Thanks also to your mom…what a gem and what an amazing family!
Thank you and your dad for these videos. It’s great for us ABC’s who love Chinese food but don’t have a clue on how to make them authentic. Love that he speaks Cantonese and you are our back up translator. Please make more videos.
So grateful to have you here Terri! Thanks so much for watching and supporting our channel. We can't wait to keep sharing more recipes + Meal Times with you!!
Love these videos! Such great production quality, the English subtitles really helped understand what your father was saying! Your channel is going to go far 👍
Wow thank you so much! That means a lot especially coming from you and your work. I love watching your videos! I've watched the David Goggins video you featured on your channel page so many times haha. We really appreciate all the love and kind words :) Cheers to the future!
I love this sauce so much!! I now keep it in the fridge for my family!! Daddy Lau’s influence has me drying orange peels now as well. I love what you’re doing, and I’m sure he has thousands of recipes to share with us. I hope your channel continues on with great success.
I’ve always loved Chinese food but your videos are the first time I have seen how to cook it. Awesome seeing Daddy Lau explain everything in Chinese with subtitles. All his techniques are easy to follow and the food looks fantastic. Appreciate your explaining points about Chinese language in English, too. Very high quality videos.

The way he puts food to the others' plates is so precious. It reminds me so much of home and I'm getting even more homesick.. Not to mention that your dad looks only 99% like my gong-gong. Thanks for your effort on putting up this kind of videos!
Cannot thank you and your dad enough for these recipes. My mum (whose also Cantonese!) and I made this one together tonight and it was SO delicious!! We've had so much fun recreating these dishes, especially since some of them my mum remembers eating from her childhood but didn't know how to make - so now she can enjoy them again, all thanks to Daddy Lau! Your channel means so much to both of us, it brings me and my mum together and helps me (2nd gen) stay connected to my culture even though I'm so far from HK ❤️❤️ Much love and blessings to your beautiful family 🥰

These videos are a joy to watch-thank you for posting.
I just watched your video again and wanted to add how lucky your son is to be growing up in such a loving environment. It was just so lovely seeing him passed from one pair of loving arms to another. I made this dish last night. Super easy, didn't take long at all and very yummy! Thank you Daddy Lau. You are THE BEST! I made a few other dishes I learned from you and served at a dinner party. All excellent! My guests LOVE the dishes!!
your dad putting food on everyone’s plate while they’re talking - he’s so sweet 💕 your videos make me feel a little emotional tbh I used to work with a married couple from Hong Kong, they’re probably similar to your mum and dads age, they came to England in the late 70’ for a better life! I worked with them in their takeaway for over a decade and I still visit their home now whenever i’m in town. but anyway they are my fondest memory through my teenage years! i really miss working with them. they’ve ran the same takeaway for nearly 40 years and they’re still running to this day! 😊 hearing the cantonese language, seeing the food they used to cook for me, brings back some fond memories of a much simpler time! thank you from across the water 🌸
I just saw this video and so glad I did. I am one of those whose salmon always come out dry, so I can relate to mommy Lau's story. I am going to try this method since it looks so delish. Finally, I can eat salmon without drying it out. Thanks, Daddy Lau!!
Hi Chef Lau, Awsome! love to watch your cooking programs, also the lesson in mandarin, Cantonese, and English! I wish I could have the videos for reference every time I COOK. Thank you for sharing
Hello from Sydney Australia. Not sure how I came across your videos, but so glad I did. I’m really enjoying your videos! Thank you for all the cooking tips and extra information about the culture and history and translations! Your mum and dad and family are adorable,

Three generations tgther. I am truly happy for u. He enjoys his cooking & continue to share his passion with his family & fans. To eat his food is good fortune. I wish u & family good fortune.
Thanks for the videos. Love to watch your father's cooking with passion. The way he put into each dish show his love of his family. Please say thanks to him from me. When we were young (40+ years ago), my grandfather (who worked at the food market) always brought home the fish head, belly, and bone, also the chicken feet and wings (not until now the wings turn into party favor). To us that's good food; to the others, that's throw away. The meat closed to the bone is more tasty than the plain slab of meat. Love the pan-fried fish belly - soft and juicy.
luv this video, great contents and very genuine family. awesome grandparents, grandma hardly ate until the end. the food looks so good that baby can't wait to grab some. keep up the great work. i am a fan!
I tried this recipe earlier and it was so good. Crispy outside , juicy and tender inside, even when I reheated it after I left it in the freezer. I never had salmon like this before. Thanks Master Lau. 多謝劉師傅。
I love this channel, thank you for posting these vidio so I learned a lot. My parents in law is cantonese and lived in Indonesia. I learned how to cook from them, same way like your dad's. I appreciate... your dad and mom hv a good health always...
I love how the ingredients are displayed on both sides like a cooking show. It’s so interesting to compare and contrast how my mum fries salmon versus your dad. My mum doesn’t add cornstarch but she somehow makes it crispy. She also tends to add a bit of toasted sesame oil at the end for a little extra fragrance
I also use the same sauce for dumplings , but without hot water, and sriracha instead chilli oil. My 2nd gen canto self really likes the extra language tidbits and history/culture bits you put in :D
Thank you so much! We really appreciate all the kind words and for sharing your mom's methods with us. That sounds delicious! Will have to try the sauce you mentioned. I just use soy sauce and sesame oil personally at home haha.
Thank you for showing this recipe to everyone. Love that you share your family time too. Also, thank you for sharing history that is not mainstream. So much history in the United States is brushed over.

Great cooking again! Professional tips from someone with so many years of experience will greatly improve our cooking. Thanks for including the important Chinese history and the difficult times and racism that our families endured.
In Vietnam. We eat tomato, cucumber and lettuce to freshen the fried food. I’m surprised no one touched it. Guess the fish that good!! I love your family. Wish mine were like yours! You bring me happiness to see a tight family that truly care and love each other. No control issue. Truly support and love unconditionally.
I’m in NewZealand,I visit canton my parents home city. And village, mr Lau reminds me of my family!, keep up the good recipes, otherwise they will be lost forever!
I followed the majority of your dad's instructions tonight. I forgot to do the cooking wine and garlic salt. But it was still so good! Thank you so muvh for providing this content. I am definitely saving this recipe and will continue to make it for tge family. Thank you again.

I chance upon this video while looking for ideas to cook salmon for dinner. What is better than learning from the pro with whom I share my surname with right? Turns out that my husband who doesn’t like salmon loves it so much. I am so surprised! Thank you for sharing this recipe and I am surely going to try other recipes from daddy Lau. 刘师傅您好厉害!and kudos to the son who produced such good and detailed video, asking all the right questions on our behalf. 加油!
I recently came across your channel and I love it! I made this recipe for supper tonight and it was fantastic. I think it's my new favorite way to eat salmon. Thank you so much!
This recipe really saved my dinner tonight!!! I love the historical context. Does your dad know how to make Hong Kong style tea? I’ve been craving some. Thank you.
Great information! I love when culture, food and history combine the taste and smell of the food translates you to a different scope of understanding. Great job! Love, love and love!!!
Hi there! Ive just recently stumbled upon your channel n have tried the sweet n sour sauce your dad made in another video...super nice!! Oooh btw...I love how your dad dishes food onto the family's plates!! I notice he often does that - so sweet.. 🌼🙂
Thank you so much for sharing! I learned so much! My mom told me to use drinking water whenever she made homemade fish sauce. This is a great explanation!!
I made this recipe this evening, complete with the sauce. Fantastic! Love the sauce. This is going to be a regular recipe for me. Thank you!! Hugs to your Dad!
Wow, thank you for this recipe, I always struggle to cook pan fried salmon, as their tend to be dry after cooking.now I’ll try this next time I’ll go to Costco.
I found this by accident. Thank you. Not only the excellent Chinese cooking from your Dad, but the history of Chinese history in the US also. It's a great video.
As he is walking away from the stove, I can hear his slippers and that immediately brought me back home. I love your videos. Reminds me of my parents. Wish I did this with my mom. She was an excellent cook and I miss her cooking.
I made this for my husband's lunch and he said it was delicious! I am also 2nd gen Chinese American and appreciate the cultural history lessons. Awesome channel. New subscriber here!
I love your videos how you explained the recipes and the history. So much love poured in the production of these videos. Kudos to you and your dad! I hope you guys stay healthy
Thank you so much... I cooked and my family love it so much... Never thought can cook like this... And the sauce very good taste... Hope to see more video and recipes from Dad Lau...
I absolutely love the videos I look forward to the end of the videos when you’re just sitting down with your family and y’all are having conversations thank you so much for these videos
I want to know what the other dishes you were eating were. I could see green beans, but what were the other 2? I really do appreciate that you give some history and geographical references in these videos. And so far, I'm amazed at how easy Chinese cooking actually is. For such a seasoned cook who I'm sure does not measure most things as he's cooking, he's able to break it down really well and make it less intimidating. I'm excited to try many of these recipes! I also appreciate that you sit down and eat a meal at the end. It's sweet to see that your dad and you both serve everyone at the table and to see what a whole meal looks like.
I just made this recipe and it works like magic. I am not a good cook but magically it taste good and the salmon have no fishy smell at all. Thanks for the recipe.
Love this cooking channel. I like that the family eats after cooking. The baby is cute. The camera man is doing a great job. Thank you to the daughter in law asked good questions.
Love your videos and thanks very much for sharing them. Just wondering if you can make a clip about how to make combinations omelette- the Chinese restaurant style please? Will be so much appreciated!!
WONDERFUL ... IN MY WORLD, WHEN THE SEAFOOD FLESH GOES FROM TRASLUCENT TO OPAQUE, I AM DONE COOKING IT! GARNISH AND SERVE!! ALSO ... IF I MAY ... NO FISH IS "FISHY" UNLESS IT IS ALREADY OLD AND PRODUCING AMMONIA IN ITS PROCESS OF DECOMPOSITION!! I DO LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ... COOKING AND CANTONESE!!

I have cooked the salmon with this sauce! Tha taste is fantastic ! Thank you for the video !
Just cooked it for the 2nd time. Garlic salt make a huge difference! Thank you again die this awesome recipe!
