great tips about prepping fresh ho fun if storing in fridge as deff they go rock hard in the packet - UK versions have microwave instructions but am always worried it would cook /heat them.

I was so absorbed in your Dad's cooking that when he said, "Tell our family it's time to eat." I was half-expecting that I will also be invited. To my dismay, I was only watching a RUclips video. How I wish I can taste your Dad's recipes.

I’m going to slowly try out all your dad’s recipe. My late mum is Cantonese, from 广州顺德 originally but immigrated to Singapore since childhood and has settled down here. I love Cantonese food but unfortunately in Singapore, Cantonese is a small minority as compared to the 福建 & 潮州 ethnicity. Getting to eat awesome authentic Cantonese food in Singapore, one must know where to find them but over the years, many of the older generations have either retired or passed on. Most of the younger generations that follow have achieved sound education in life and preferred to be enrolled into the white collar industry. Authentic Cantonese cuisine is disappearing in Singapore. I’m so happy to have caught your dad’s youtube link by accident and I’ve been watching it very closely ever since. Kudos to you and your dad….👏👏👏👍👍👍

Mama Lau is a sweet traditional wife and mother - I like the fact that she has many good comments and tips to share too though, she will still play second fiddle to Daddy Lau and let him have his say whenever he wishes.....I love the effort she puts into speaking English for her daughter-in-law (+ viewers) to understand! She's a harmonizer and a modest honest lady!!

I watched this last week and intended making it soon. Well, tonight I needed dinner inspiration so I used it as guidelines.
I used rice stick noodles, chicken, carrots, onions & cabbage with gobs of ginger (Hub's request), garlic, gochujang to spice it up, soy sauce, chicken broth powder, sesame oil. What a hit!
Watching several of your videos and Daddy Lau's technique has really help build my ability to make a great Asian meal happen at our house. Thank you.

This is the BEST channel for Cantonese Cuisine !
Not only does Daddy Lau cooks + teaches with a practical, easy approach, but I deeply appreciate that Randy gives a history
of the dish + incorporates Chinese Characters on the side, to help us understand well, the subject matter.
Daddy Lau did give many "pearls" about cooking Gnorn Chow Hor Fun; now I know why refrigerated Hor Fun is hard to cook.

Thanks.. amazing videos not just for Chinese recipes but also an insight into Chinese culture. I believe that this culture is the same the world over. Parents are happy to be with their children and grandchildren and that appetising food heals all agonies. Usually when a child is angry or frustrated, the best way to calm him/her down is to serve delicious food..and it applies to adults too. The way to the heart is through good food. Thanks once again!!

Oh my goodness...those tips Daddy Lau shares at the end when he is eating is like gold !! He is going to make me into THE Best home cook chef !!!
I ain’t missing my dining in restaurant anymore .... I can cook like a master , thanks to Daddy Lau ! So THank you for making these vids!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I love the family dinner talks ....and I love your mom doing her editorial too .
Makes me miss my grandparents and parents , who have all passed. This was what my Popo did every Sunday, big family dinners with kids, parents . It brought back lots of memories.
I have started my own traditions with my kids , since they left home 3 years ago.... every Saturday or Sunday is our family dinner. No excuse about attendance .
With covid , they can’t be socializing with friends so covid made our gatherings 100% turn out .
My next to do is to get my kids cooking like Daddy Lau. So that these dishes become their “ normal dinner dishes “ instead of depending on me to make it all the time. The history lessons you added is a really nice touch. The older I get the more curious I am about where does these beginning of cooking techniques , taste etc come from.
My uncle is great chef but he lives too far from me, so I can’t learn from him. I only see him once a year when he visits for a week, and I don’t want him to be cooking on his vacation. Like your dad, he is the main or should I say only cook for his in-laws, and his children. He loves being in the kitchen cause he says he don’t know much about anything else 😁😁 .
I can’t believe your dad is 75 plus...his energy level is superb ! I hope I have that kind of energy when I get there.
Video editing is 👍👍👍 good job everyone !

You should have your dad try using an induction cooktop. The wok that he is now using won't work because it looks like it's nonferrous. He can go to a flat bottom iron wok. I think he will be impressed with how fast it will heat up and also it will get hotter than what he is using now. Love the videos.

Beef Chow Fun is one of my dad's favorites. I'm definitely going to try this once I can source fresh chow fun. What type/brand of wok is Daddy Lau using in the video? Is it a cast iron wok? I have a glass top stove and have yet to find a flat bottom wok that works well for me.

    • @MadeWithLau
      @MadeWithLau  3 года назад +5

Yay hope this turns out similar to how your dad likes it! This is the wok we are using for the videos: amzn.to/365xFRX It's actually not the wok my dad uses for everyday cooking because he normally cooks over a gas stove. For the videos we have a small electric burner so got this one and it's been working well for us! We hope to do a video on woks in the future though because I know my dad has a lot of thoughts on this subject.
