Oh my! After I heard your Cmaj7 13 I began to worry if my Arturia KeyStep37 would be long enough for that beautiful chord. .. yes, it is :) Thank you, Jamal!
I would love to learn these things in a simple example like Mary Had A Little Lamb using the basic chords in C then the alternate urban chords because I am having a very hard time hearing a melody in the cluster
@@GospelMusicians Eb. Same principle borrowing from the cousin, just using the relative minor of C. More of a neo soul flavor for sure though. This borrowing from the cousin thing by the way, I learned it pretty much the way you explain it, but recently saw some Barry Harris (famous jazz guy, recently passed away I believe) breakdown talking about this same concept but taking it further. Basically if you take the root of your key, and make it a diminished 7th, you can borrow from all of those keys and move in and out pretty easily of those keys. So from Eb, You can borrow from C, F#, and A. Pretty crazy stuff wish I could remember the name of the channel I saw that on but it blew my mind 🤯
@@LarryMonteforte Ahhhh I get it....Yep that's the Diminished Chord follow. Thats pretty much super Neo-Soul...Yep! That would definitely take it into neo-soul land.
Thanks!

You can even take it a step further, and sub that C for a phat Am11, and even Dm11 but that's a little spicy
In the Key of C or in the Key of Eb?
