about 5 years ago I remember Andrew said that if you are from any Carribean countries that the waiting period is only 1 year before you can qualify and approved for Columbian citizenship instead of 5 years
I'm Spanish and have Colombian citizenship in my wishlist but I'm broke and I can't afford it yet. This is one of those cases demonstrating that getting early is very important, if had the money a couple of years earlier I could have gotten permanent residence instantly but now that option is gone and you need to accumulate 5 years to be elegible.
The landscape is great but so is the landscape of Venezuela, for me countries with property tax are a no-go, especially property tax starting already at the middle class property.
I am a US retiree and I am interested in moving to Colombia. Here is my problem: Double taxation. At present Colombia doesn’t have any tax treaties with USA. US tax system has exemption for foreign income up to $119,000 but Colombia doesn’t have any exemption for income made in USA. Colombia has a 183 days or more tax rule which makes me a tax resident if I stay more than 184 days or more in Colombia. I heard that the Colombian tax rate is around 30%. How could we avoid the double taxation issue? Maybe stay in Colombia for 6 six months or less. Please advise me.
I was going to consider Colombia but just having spent a month there I changed my mind just to much poverty and the threat of violence against foreigners is not my cup of tea.
@@NigelHyphenJones you are right sure others who want can take it. Since it is an open comment section it is about personal opinion and that is my take on the topic.

There's a beautiful shot of a white building with a waterfall in the background at the VERY beginning of this video. What's the name of that spot?
El Salto de Tequendama is about an hour and half minutes outside of Bogotá.
Can you do a video about Perú!
It is too difficult to obtain citizenship from a country like Colombia. I'm ready to consider Peru.
Why is nobody recommending Uruguay?
🤔
We have talked about Uruguay in a separate video: ruclips.net/video/Gr0wNzJExj8/видео.html
Paraguay is also an option, right next to Uruguay…..
Uruguay promises to work with you but then gets into a prolonged foot dragging mode where they never follow though---leaving you in limbo. No thanks.

Have you seen all the homeless and gangs in the United States? Some parts of the United States are third world countries.
10 years is REALLY long.
Specially under a communist regime. LOL!
Colombia is a fine country. Traveling there count me in but I don’t need Colombian residency nor citizenship.

Colombia is getting worse. May become Venezuela if thing continue to deteriorate.
… for sure. But the US may become utopia if things continue to deteriorate?

That is going to change, Colombia is still a great country, despite the current leftist government, which is doomed to collapse.
Not for too long.
Youth is poisoned with socialist ideas. This is coming almost for sure.
