I can't believe your channel hasn't blown up more. Solid craftsmanship, solid vids, great free entertainment. What's not to like! Keep up the good work. I know vids take allot of time and effort to produce, and time is valuable with young kids

I love the shelf unit. Let the wood do all the work otherwise, it's only as strong as the weakest screw.
Great work on your basement, John. I did the same to our garage a few years after we moved in. Stuff just stacked up everywhere. Some shelving and what not and all of a sudden, we could park a car in there and I had space for the shop I didn't know I was going to have until a few years later, Lol.

Love the video. I’m going to set up the metal wood racks I just ordered in my garage to store extra wood. But I think the biggest thing I got a kick out of in your video was in the beginning when you were using your battery drill with that cookbook in it to screw that hook into the ceiling that was awesome. I hate having to try to put those things in with a pair of pliers, that’s one of the best ideas I’ve ever seen. Thanks again also I subscribed to your channel.

You could add a trap door for an easier way to move your wood from storage to your shop.
Nah rather not take up floor space upstairs. It’s long term storage no big deal to go from the outside

Why is it that the projects that end up helping us out the most are the ones we put off the longest? Great vid and great use of space. Now you need some kind of trapdoor or elevator to move stuff into and out of your shop from there.

Hi John, Rekeying isn't too hard and boy is it nice to have one key that does all your locks. Maybe look into that for there electronic lock and others. Could make a video about it as well.

What brand & model of electronic deadbolt did you use?
I bought a new one for my actual shop door upstairs and moved this old one down. They’re both ones that Home Depot has out in the center aisles this time of year for holiday sales, can’t remember the brand off the top of my head. This years model has like a black touchscreen, pretty nice!
Did the door swing out?
If so you need to change that!

Yea it has to or it’ll hit the floor joists up top opening in unfortunately. They should’ve dug the basement a little deeper haha
I didnt see what brand of dehumidifier you used. I have gone thru a few, with the best being an old one from an auction. but it got trashed in a move by someone who did not recognize that it looked like junk but worked great.
It’s a Pelonis. So far really happy with it

It’s great, the only jigsaw I trust to actually make square cuts. I have another one with a Collins coping foot on it and it’s really nice to use for that too
