Ya know, maybe my brain doesn’t work as well as others, but this is the first video that I’ve seen that covers EXACTLY how the playing cards are used as spacers for the drawer fronts. I feel like many things like that are glossed over. Thank you for taking the time to cover these newbie tips!
Just built a slightly modified version of this assembly table using your plans. I absolutely love it!! Thanks, John! I reduced the height of the side doors and replaced the top drawers on both ends with 'cubbies' so I can keep clamps and tools off the table when working.
Got to admit I smiled to see you install drawer slides/drawers exactly the same way I do. The only minor difference is I use a single wider piece of plywood. Often times I will domino several off cuts together, start with the top slide and head to the table saw after each set of slides to rip the "template" shorter. In a larger project I will go around to all of the places that require a given "offset" from the bottom, shorten, rinse, repeat. cheers.
@@JohnBuildsIt Yup, all you need is something wide enough with 2 parallel sides. It would interesting to see you paining the main part of the bench. I am very paranoid about overspray!
Awesome build. I've been subbed to your channel for a while and its like you're in my head. I was just telling my wife how I wanted to build a new outfeed table with some storage then boom here is this video.
Good job! Looks clean! I was watching this with headphones, and just a tip would be to check your audio :) Audio is just as imp as the video when it comes to YT! Keep up the good content!
I have the same kit for the drills only I opted to get one 3 ah batt and one 5 ah with the pack out box for the same price. That little impact is a beast! I one one with a 3/8 and 1/4 inch drive for my garage as well. The collet for the quick bit switch is a little messed up after about 4 years of abuse. Including replacing the suspension on my truck. Great kit. I have a pack out of my work kit and since they won't buy my cool work tools I take this one in the pack out so I can wheel the whole tool box into the hotels when I'm away. Since I have the M18 batteries I have added several other tools. I just wish the fuel circular saws have attachable or build in vacuum ports. Looking forward to them coming out with a track saw.
@@JohnBuildsIt Ryobi already dropped theirs so you know it won't be to long. Its priced at 399 from what I've seen. I suspect the M18 will be somewhere in the 5 to 6 range maybe? I do have the Ryobi one batteries for my wife's glue gun so its not a stretch and I really don't need anything "professional". A corded would likely work fine for me and I have thought about just hammering a wen or shop fox cheap one for a bit with a nice blade to dip my feet in there and see if its really useful for what I do.
Very nice cabinet! I’m I. The middle of the f building a similar cabinet / cart / mobile work surface. My inspiration was one built by Shop Nation. Enjoy!
I really like the super-functional design/layout of this. I'm in need of more drawers in my workshop and up until now have been thinking about a typical base cabinet. But I also need to re-do a basic workbench/table that I quickly put together for my miter saw, and your design is the perfect solution for both of my needs -- thanks. Thanks also for the all the little helpful tips throughout the video.
Great video, concise and easy to follow! Question, with so many brands of drawer slides offered on Amazon, can you tell me the brand or make of the drawer slides you used in this build? Thanks for the great projects!
What a workhorse, while being great-looking!! And, that goes for your build project, all the Ariat gear, and that newly discovered supermodel 😉😆. Seriously, I'd be happy having your bench features for creating stained glass and fine scale miniatures. Adding a non-slip worktop would be ideal for my use (wide tool drawer vinyl liner, maybe). Just added OMNI racks to the want list, and will tell hubby it's for his late March birthday 🤗.
Excellent project and video, John! Seriously, it was well thought out and implemented. And like the title said, The Perfect Size Workbench. Thanks for sharing, my friend. Felix
Great build John! I noticed your modified shop vac in the background around the two minute mark of this video. I was wondering if you have a build video for it? Thanks.
Very nice shop cabinet. I really like the foam router bit storage at the end. I will use my left over foam for a similar type of bit holder so thanks for the tip.
I would definitely be interested in learning more about your CNC... I've got a small one now but, I am looking to expand and I2R has grabbed my attention.
Do u have a video showing the ridgid vacuum set up with that plywood spacer in between the lid and bucket? It looks very interesting. As always awesome content I always look forward to seeing your videos.

Those casters are over the top, first class all around. Of course a well done video made this build very easy to follow and enjoyable to watch!
Really really nice video and build! The one thing that would complete it would be a tad better audio. You can get away with great audio at such a good price nowadays. Curtis judd is my go to channel for audio. Cheers! :)
I've watched this three times now over the last few days. Such an awesome build, man! I'm totally going to use this as a reference when I build my next bench.
@@JohnBuildsIt Very interested in that Vacuum set up. I’ve reached out to DustStopper 2X since I first saw you using it but all I get back is… Stay Tuned… Do you have any insight into a release date?
Hey john! I love your channel and I may borrow some ideas from this workbench. If I can make a suggestion (and I dont know what hardware you're using right now, so forgive me), but upgrading your mic that you're doing voiceovers with, with perhaps a Blue Snowball (sub $50) and a pop filter could really up your voiceover game. It's amazing how cheap and good they sound!
The sad thing is, this is a highly recommended $250+ microphone haha. I did this voiceover like 8 times and this was as good as I could get it before getting too frustrated. I don’t get this stuff lol, going to go back to my old mic for now
@@JohnBuildsIt I'm not an audiophile, but depending on the mic and what software u use, you can probly dial that bad boy in real good! But ya that sorta work is pretty frustrating.. I do not comment often, but this was a very nice build. Thank you. Also wondering if you could or would include the time it took to build & your actual cost of this Build. Thanks in Advance.
You should probably mention in your plans that the cultist does not follow grain direction Also does not have blade kerf calculated so some of the cuts have to be spot on with no room For error, also the middle door hinges should be on the same side if on opposite side this will not allow the center shelve to be pulled out.
It’s a new idea Dustopper is working on. They’re starting to put videos about it on their channel if you want to check it out. Basically puts the Dustopper separator inside the vac to eliminate hoses, and have the full capacity of your vacuum instead of a 5 gallon bucket
Just spacing for your specific material. There are 2 that are closer together that are great for like a 1x2, and the outside 2 are good for a 1x4. So you can drill without having to unclamp and move the piece
I have a few different ones. Just depends on what I’m spraying. All are Graco though, have always been impressed with them. This particular video I used a gx19
with the Milwaukee tools do you still have to buy some sort of fuel along with the battery I've always been a DeWalt fan and still am and I've had huge success with them but I'm always willing to try something else
If I could give this video 100x thumbs up, I would! Friggin sweet build and looks incredible!
