I built one, (not quite as fancy as I have a limited budget) Bought a solid core exterior door 36" x 80" for top, utilized some re-purposed 4x4's (from neighbors' fence) and made a cantilevered shelf on one end for my old craftsman tablesaw, large hole in shelf with garbage bag (one end cut off) as a sawdust chute into shop built wooden box on castors to catch sawdust. End vice, storage drawers x 4, shelves for tools i seldom use
Glue & tape rack & clamp storage- Tyler (I wish you tube would allow posting of pictures)

If a guy that was setting up a new shop was building this table, I would recommend that he incorporate a router lift into it. I would also suggest changing the top to incorporate a downdraft table. But the way you built it...man I am in love. Beautiful project.

theres so many little things with these tables that i think people notice after the fact like what happens when something falls thru the hole? how do you retrieve it. Also when dust falls in there, how do you clean it up? i think a table that addresses this and the other little things would make an ultimate table. I know dennis from hookd on wood addressed this issue and well thought out. Cant wait to make mine. great video still

Awesome build! One suggestion - if you didn't want the T tracks on the sides to protrude - just bore 1" holes on either end of the t track before installing it, it works great and you don't snag anything on the edges!

@@MWAWoodworks I need to use a block of wood if I want to use a hold-fast, because they’ll whack the little 1/4” ply if whatever I’m holding is thin, but that’s a small compromise. I just screwed thin plywood rails at a slight incline onto the front and back apron, slid the plywood in, then held it in with blue tape. So if I drop something in there (and can’t get it with a magnet), I can take the tape off and fish it out. Or fish it thru the dust port. Even if you have a shop vac on a random orbit sander, it’s nice to have that to really get the dust flowing away from your face! I just disconnect the hose and use it for my router table or drum sander. Super handy.

This is a very nice design, well thought out. I did something similar to my 40x90 workbench, breaking into 3 pieces so I could CNC whatever type of top I want (dogs, t-track, combo, etc.) One recommendation is to give access to the top t-slot of your extrusions. The Kreg Automaxx clamps fit and they are brilliant for top or side clamping, quickly and easily. They were a game changer when I added extrusion to all 4 sides of my bench. I hardly use my Festool clamps anymore.

Question. Has adding the Formica to the table top interfered with being able to use your festool clamps? I have the bessey ratcheting clamps which are exactly like the festool brand. The metal “L” section of the clamps barely clear the dog hole on just 3/4 mdf. Lowe’s says the thickness of the Formica is .35 of an inch, which sounds too thick from what I saw in this video. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I agree with one of the other comments that edge banding after the Formica is easier and more accurate. After all is said and done, what do you think the total cost of building a table like this would be? What is the total size of the table. I have a single car garage that I'm getting setup and, to be honest, I did it out of construction lumbar and rough plywood covered with Formica bc of the cost. Looking forward to watching some of your other vidoes as well.

Unless I'm mistaken, the stretchers between the legs are usually inset from the outside of the leg, not the inside. Why did you put your stretchers so far back from the outside of the leg?

So that the cabinet sides sit flush with the legs. Makes adding drawer slides way easier

I have always thought that the cut outs in a table like this to accommodate the table saw miter gauge look unfinished, and expose the MDF particle board. Has anyone thought to place some sheet metal on the floor of these cuts to trim them out, perhaps some pieces of aluminum or stainless? I literally just thought of it. Nice assembly table. Thank you!

I never thought of doing that. I actually kind of like the contrasting colors of the raw MDF and the black Formica

I’ve gotten to drawer building and hit a problem. I can’t find 5/8” plywood locally. All out of stock. Would it be better to go an 1/8” smaller to 1/2” or 1/8” bigger to 3/4” to build the drawer boxes? Both of those sizes are readily available.

Excellent video! One question please: at 3:28 you're using what looks like a black aluminum fence with some stops and dogs attached, which seems like a handy MFT accessary. What is it / where an I find one? I looked on your website list of all tools but didn't see it. Thanks!

Great video! thank you. This is my first time in your channel. If you allow me one question please
What do you do with all the "wood dust" that is into the drum of the dust collector? (min 2:46)
Do you recycle it, use it for a new project? I'm new in the wookworking world
Thanks in advance and sorry for my Egnlish I'm still learning
Have a Productive and Healthy day!

Great build! Thinking about replacing my outfeed/assembly table so this might work nicely. One question though....I'd like to do the dogholes but get lots of sawdust and shavings on my tabletop, any ideas on how to keep all this from falling through and making the inside of the drawers and cabinet a mess? Thanks!

A small 1/4 hardboard sloped towards the sides of your table under the tabletop can allow most of the dust fall towards the sides but shield things underneath.

This is great, and I plan to build this or something very close to it very soon. Thanks! One question though. I too like the idea of dogholes in the laminated top, however I do not have a CNC. What would you recommend as the cleanest way to bore these dogholes without getting tearout in the laminate?

There's a link in the description for a product called the parf guide system for creating mft style tops by hand (with a drill)

I took my top to a CNC shop, and they just charged the equivalent of 30 US dollars. Their rate is just 1 dollar per minute. I live in Mexico City, BTW.

Have you changed out those handles yet?
I installed those in a kitchen I renovated about 20 years ago... I soon began to regret my decision after ripping two pairs of shorts from catching on those style handles.

@@MWAWoodworks I loved the way the looked, but they were at just the right height to catch on my pockets. FYI, I'm ordering some formica for my bench tops to try out. That's why I was back watching this again.
