Its Okay Rudy. You can make longer videos, i dont mind. I like to put them in the background as i am falling asleep, listening to your soothing voice. =D
Time Spiral was excellent to draft. This is when I came back to Magic. Time Spiral, Futuresight and Planar Chaos draft pools were insanely fun. You never knew what you'd run into. SO much nostalgia. Definitely my 2nd favorite block after Urza's.
Man, I love these boxes. As an older player, these openings with the timeshifted cards and the foils in particular are just amazing :) Also I guess the last time we saw Dominaria and of course the card references and easter eggs are the best!
She lived in the same town i did when i was growing up in Massachusetts. she's older than me I never knew who she was because I never played magic as a kid I never played magic at all I do collect the cards now because of the art and hers is some of my favorite
Man it takes me back. I wasn't ever good at the game but I collected the cards. I still have a few at home... I remember I loved "Force Of Nature"... Can't explain why but I loved that card :)
Dude, back in the day I used to play Green/white and throw spirit link on Force of Nature... brutal attacker and no need to pay the upkeep. In before "dies to removal" comments...
Hey man I'm sorry for how you were treated. Good on you for staying strong and keepin' on keeping on. You seem like a good person and you still deserve an apology from another certain RUclipsr.
According to the MTGSalvation forums: "Tourney Box = 36 rare, 120 uncommon, 384 common, 360 basic land [72 each]; Booster Box = 36 rare, 108 uncommon, 396 common." So, for sets like Ravnica, you definitely want the Tourney Box.
Rudy, I don’t know anything about Magic, but I’ve been watching you for so long that I went out and bought an Ixalan Box the other day. I recorded it and got some AWESOME pulls! Today I bought an Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation Box. What have you done to me you asshat? I have no clue what I’m pulling!
That's the best part though, that reminds me of being a kid and buying LOB yugioh packs at a gas station and not knowing what anything was lol. We'd get a foil and be like omfg lol.
This makes me want to sort through all my all Timespiral again! I bought shed loads because i loved the theme of the set and the Slivers! 15 yr old me didnt care about value.
Dear Rudy, Somewhat recently, somewhere in Mesopotamia, someone invented "Scissors". They greatly simplified the opening of plastic-encased items, like MTG packs. Highly recommended tool for any household.
When this stuff was current was about the time I stopped collecting and playing. Morningtide was the last set i bought from. Pretty nostalgic. Watching him go through these is like looking through a few of my folders.
Oh the good times...remember buying original Ravnica, Time Spiral and Lorwyn Tournament packs in a town near me for 4-5 dollars a pack...damn the nostalgya. :')
Aww nostalgia. 2006 is when I started playing magic when my boyfriend built a deck for me and it consist of a lot of Time Spiral cards. We're married now. And we still play magic together.
I have old cards somewhere, in storage, I cant remember where but ill have to dig them out. I havent touched magic since i played in tournaments. Which was probably 5-8 years ago. Not that long but still a long time. Its always been fun. Shadowmoor specifically holds a special place for me.
awe man timespiral was my jam in the day. I still think paradox haze is one of the coolest cards. I had a friend who pulled both Acromas in the same pack, one time shifted.
I'm pretty sure you are thinking of Zendikar for the reserve list cards, time spiral just time shifted old cards, planar chaos did alternate color reprints, future sight had the future shifted cards that could or couldn't maybe be.
Can't believe you blew past one of the coolest combos out of the dark @ 24:48... the old Merfolk Assassin, and the War Barge combo... I forgive you Rudy, being that you're "not a player"... Great packs, had fun watching!
This video is special for me. It was Time Spiral, when I started playing MTG and it was my first ever prerelease event. Recently I returned to play Magic: Arena, wish I could afford to buy real paper cards. Great video nevertheless, brought back sweet memory!
Played in highschool during the Ice-age-5th-Mirage era. Stopped with Tempest. Started playing again with Time Spiral and holy crap was that a fun block for someone that had so much nostalgia for the game. Characters quoted but never had a card like Lim Dul, or Saffi. Then the Time-shifted bringing back cards I remembered playing when I was a freshman. After this was Planar Chaos and all the alternate versions, altered history. What if Crovax was good? What if Braids wasn't insane? Colorshifted spells like Wrath of God becoming Damnation. Prodical Sorcerer becoming red. I quit(and haven't really played since) with Future Sight. I think it really was the nostalgia that got me playing during that time, was the perfect time and then that time was past.
Why would that kill sliver for you isn't that a positive thing? now u don't benefit your opponent if they have something with all creature types or when you try to change and take an opponent's creatures using things like amoeboid changeling and sliver overlord.
Back in Time Spiral there was a sub-set of cards that were reprints of older cards. They had the old frame, but got the Time Spiral set symbol in purple. Each booster pack included one and the tournament starter decks had 3. I just think it would be cool to see that again, only kinda reversed with modern cards getting the old-school treatment.
I used to have a spike deck, turned into my WBG Ghave EDH deck, still use the Spike Weaver and, I think, Spike Feeder. btw, charge counter lands work good with proliferate once you buy into one counter.
Umm, it was Zendicar that did the random old reserved list cards. Timespiral reprinted a bunch of old (non reserved) cards with that purple expansion symbol and old frame.
Rudy, the storage lands are actually good with Atraxa and Inexorable Tide. You almost never have to pay into them after you put the first storage counter on it.
Yeah TSP and PLC are awesome for EDH. I think we are due for a time spiral like set. It was very unique and and complex set. This was back before WOTC built your standard deck for you.
I was just talking to my son today about discontinued starter decks. All time fail story right here, I opened a lot of Tempest starters and was lucky to pull either Cursed Scroll, Scroll Rack, Time Warp out of nearly every one i bought. If i didn't get one of them i always got a damn benthic behemoth. Long story short i ran into a kid one day at school and he wanted all 12 of my cursed scrolls (which were $20 back then) and handed me an Unlimited Ancestral Recall as his trade offer.......which i declined......and still regret it to this day. Funny how a simple thought about starter decks always brings up that sore memory.
Pretty sure that Ancestral Visions is worth about 40$ (that's what it was at when I looked a couple weeks ago), it dropped down from $60 after it was released in a duel deck I believe. Love that card, and this set. I was around opening packs of a lot of those time shifted cards, if not all of them. Makes me long for the old days :( Love your videos and your channel Rudy! Thanks for all the great content!
Ohhhh shit. Yeah I totally forgot they were reprinting it again in the new Masters set. Good, we need the stupidly expensive Modern staples to be reprinted, and often. The cost to get into Modern is prohibitively expensive, though when compared to how much it costs to play standard for a decent length of time its not much more, and the cards dont rotate. Regardless I would love to see more reprints, especially using new sets to reprint modern staples. The Masters sets help bring the price down, but in the case of the Zendikar fetches, it didnt help that much, the print run (and MSRP of packs/boxes being high) is too small.
Yeah I realized that after I remembered it was being reprinted in Iconic masters. I payed $60 fucking dollars a piece for 2 of them this spring, wish I had waited, but who knew they would release a second masters set this year.
ah i miss that set. slivers were one of the strongest, but i played g/b thallids abusing death spore's -1/-1 as a kill mechanic early on. with doubling season and call to arms as the essential kill cards
hey Rudy, that box that didn't have a foil, do you think it was placed in the common because i noticed that there was a bunch of cards that you didn't go through and just placed it in the pile.
Greetings Rudy. Do you have any comments for the 2 sided Ixalan cards that were printed on token paper. They feel like a supple taco instead of a floppy one. cheers.
There were no power cards time shifted in that set. It was zendikar that had power etc inserted in the packs. Only the first print run of Zendikar had them which is what makes the original Zendikar Fat Pack so expensive. They are made from the first print run and then discontinued. If you want to go power/big card hunting, get some Zendikar fat packs and go from there.
Time Spiral is probably one of my favorites only because I enjoy fungus and saprolings a lot and it's one of the few times they were a legitimate thing.
I think that the deal with these tourney packs compared to boosters were that a tourney pack couldnt contain duplicates whereas a booster could include stuff like goyf + foil goyf in the same pack. I'm not saying that its plausible to draw 6 high value rares from 3 boosters, but you actually could do it.
Rudy my shirt arrived the other day. Wanted to say thanks again. It made for a great background in my last video. Gave you a shout out. :) not that you need shout outs from a channel with 40 subs. But i had too lol
I don't play or collect but somehow i've watched like 5 videos in a row. Serious question? do they have a set card list for starter decks? or are they all different?
All are different and contain X cards from the current set at random. However you always get a specific amount of commons, uncommons and rares. All are random from the set.
Sees Auratog "Now we're getting trolled." Auratog is aactually just good enough to see some Modern play in decks that could be top tier in the future. It comboes so well with Hatching Plans, the ordeals, and Rancor that it is swimming in potential.
PS: ghost ship is from the dark. Skeleton ship is from ice age. Its the buw legend card, with the skeleton riding a dolphin like a horse. It pretty much rules!!
Ure from Jax?! I was born and raised in Jax! Ive got to come see your shop next hometown visit. I've got a fools demise foil. Along with darkness matters and some original concept art packs I Wonder how much a lot of the old cards are worth I remember some of them being 25 back in the day and some now only worth 25 cents. Interesting how worth changes with magic.
Rudy it is i from 2019 and yes slivers do come back. In a set called modern horizons
They came back before that too. M14 or M15 had them. Its where hivelord came from.
I was just about to comment exactly what you did lol :)
Wait what slivers come back?!?!
They make a second come back in 2021 in a set called time spiral remastered
Thank you. Sorry I'm stuck in the past and can't leave
Every Invasion card Rudy sees, "That's from Mirage!" :D

how much was it worth sealed??@Daniel Wilson
@Daniel Wilson I believe you're thinking of Gemstone Caverns, not Mine.
Lol. Chromatic Star 0.99. I wish it were that in 2019. Also, first pack Mwonvuli Acid Moss was $2 when this was posted. What else did you miss? 😜

"Eron, your rent is overdue man, cough it up"
"Thou art mistaken. I shall not pay rent, for I am... Eron, the Rentless!"
We used to just call that card Brett Michaels
Thank you for the blast from the past. The last time I actually played MTG was in 2006, so these cards took me back. Have a good one buddy!
I don't know a single thing about what you are doing in your videos but I still like to watch...
Time Spiral is when i started collecting! :D Loved this set so much!
Man, I love these boxes. As an older player, these openings with the timeshifted cards and the foils in particular are just amazing :) Also I guess the last time we saw Dominaria and of course the card references and easter eggs are the best!
The art you're talking about around 12:00 is Rebecca Guay's art. Her stuff is phenomenal.
Even phenomenal is an understatement.
I have all her cards. Easily my favorite as well.
She lived in the same town i did when i was growing up in Massachusetts. she's older than me I never knew who she was because I never played magic as a kid I never played magic at all I do collect the cards now because of the art and hers is some of my favorite
Aaron: well yeah but you don't have to say it out loud.
Her Lorwyn art specifically is absolutely enchanting.
Really fun to watch old school openings like this.
loved this set, this was when I made a sick sliver deck, used some good old ones and some new. The foils were insane, got a ton of them
Man it takes me back. I wasn't ever good at the game but I collected the cards. I still have a few at home... I remember I loved "Force Of Nature"... Can't explain why but I loved that card :)
My 1st rare i ever pulled from a pack was 'Force of Nature'. :)
Dude, back in the day I used to play Green/white and throw spirit link on Force of Nature... brutal attacker and no need to pay the upkeep. In before "dies to removal" comments...
Storm was Onslaught block. Such a fantastic block / period of MTG (gotta love old school type 1 and 2 classifications back then)
19:21 did you check the commens for the foil?
So much damn nostalgia Rudy. I was like. 10 years old. I still remember spending my allowance on these packs.
I'm guessing 3 Black Lotuses
You’re a legend joey !! I always recommend your channel to all my friends who play mtg.
Hey man I'm sorry for how you were treated. Good on you for staying strong and keepin' on keeping on. You seem like a good person and you still deserve an apology from another certain RUclipsr.

What happened did he get rape
This was an amazing Block to play. I miss it. This was the block before the dreaded planeswalkers were made.
i just watch these for Rudy's commentary and oldschool artwork nostalgia. These cards are just breathtaking,
According to the MTGSalvation forums: "Tourney Box = 36 rare, 120 uncommon, 384 common, 360 basic land [72 each]; Booster Box = 36 rare, 108 uncommon, 396 common."
So, for sets like Ravnica, you definitely want the Tourney Box.
If they are roughly the same price, yes you do.
Splash Attack TCG how'd things go with the boxes?
Whelp, you now have a whole bunch of cards, grab someone else and start playing.
Splash Attack TCG ouch, that's a bad box to buy.
That's the best part though, that reminds me of being a kid and buying LOB yugioh packs at a gas station and not knowing what anything was lol. We'd get a foil and be like omfg lol.
The Wanderer The good old days lol
So much memories.. Time shift was when I started playing MTG. I had no idea what those purple-iconed "shifted" cards were :)
Man what an awesome video!!!! I didn't know these existed!!! You and Unsealed are 2 of my favorites!!!
I dont even play magic and I still watch all your videos~!
@Mmm 333 i do too

That was my all-time favorite set ! My introduction to slivers !
Aww nostalgia. 2006 is when I started playing magic when my boyfriend built a deck for me and it consist of a lot of Time Spiral cards. We're married now. And we still play magic together.
This guy is so happy never saw more happy person in my life for a deck of cards made of paper
Ha! I remember playing a korlash black control deck in tournaments during this block. So fun.
Ancestral visions lol and you gave yourself away singing those songs we all know you were an eighties fan lol! Keep opening those packs my man!
I miss those days. did that prerelease at a card store thats now closed. was so much fun. there was printing errors, but only the coloring
I have old cards somewhere, in storage, I cant remember where but ill have to dig them out.
I havent touched magic since i played in tournaments. Which was probably 5-8 years ago. Not that long but still a long time. Its always been fun. Shadowmoor specifically holds a special place for me.

I remember these, loved them back in my MtG prime. Yes the foil is always in the back.
I love watching all your old set pack openings Rudy, really wish i got into magic more back when i was a kid
Can't believe you blew past one of the coolest combos out of the dark @ 24:48... the old Merfolk Assassin, and the War Barge combo... I forgive you Rudy, being that you're "not a player"... Great packs, had fun watching!
why do i always find myself watching you? idgaf about mtg. i just listen to you in the background like an audiobook you fool. thx old man rudy
Those Tournament pack boxes were great for storing decks, too
Yes I remember this set it was the year I graduated and it was my favorite set of playing at the time
That was amazing! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, MTG Unsealed and Rudy.
This video is special for me. It was Time Spiral, when I started playing MTG and it was my first ever prerelease event. Recently I returned to play Magic: Arena, wish I could afford to buy real paper cards. Great video nevertheless, brought back sweet memory!

To me they killed Slivers when they made them "Your slivers get X" instead of "All sliver get X".
Slivers where blessed for a long time but alot of mtg players I remember been either I love them or hate them much lile infect XD
Why would that kill sliver for you isn't that a positive thing? now u don't benefit your opponent if they have something with all creature types or when you try to change and take an opponent's creatures using things like amoeboid changeling and sliver overlord.
@@Tru3Spart3n Because it was a double edged sword that added player interaction. Made the game more interesting and thinky.
Chromatic Star is a $3 common, pushing $20 for the foil. Used primarily in Pauper Tron, I think. That's what I was buying copies for, at least.
That foil Resurrection looks so sweet! Loved to play that card with my Wrath of Gods.
War Barge and Merfolk Assassin in the same tournament pack! That's old school The Dark combo goodness.
Another masterpiece from Halfwayinthebox Rudy
We really need time-shifted cards again. I would love to see more modern cards with old school borders. Shock-lands, filter-lands, planeswalkers, etc.
actually , what does this time shifted mean?
Back in Time Spiral there was a sub-set of cards that were reprints of older cards. They had the old frame, but got the Time Spiral set symbol in purple. Each booster pack included one and the tournament starter decks had 3. I just think it would be cool to see that again, only kinda reversed with modern cards getting the old-school treatment.
They are sort of doing that, not in the timespiral way, but by basic reprints. Battlebond has an 80 card printed like 10-11 years ago
Don't forget, we got teaser cards of new sets in that block too!
yes, i agree. we need old cards timeshifted onto crappy new stick ✌
I used to have a spike deck, turned into my WBG Ghave EDH deck, still use the Spike Weaver and, I think, Spike Feeder. btw, charge counter lands work good with proliferate once you buy into one counter.
That moment you remember having an Ancestral Visions back in the day. But know not what happened to it.
Umm, it was Zendicar that did the random old reserved list cards. Timespiral reprinted a bunch of old (non reserved) cards with that purple expansion symbol and old frame.
Rudy: do you think they'll ever being back slivers?
WOTC 2019: hold my elixir *makes modern horizons with the first sliver*
Rudy, the storage lands are actually good with Atraxa and Inexorable Tide. You almost never have to pay into them after you put the first storage counter on it.
That one pack had Merfolk Assassin and War Barge in it. Nasty combo.
This entire set is amazing in EDH. These pulls made me so giddy :P
Yeah TSP and PLC are awesome for EDH. I think we are due for a time spiral like set. It was very unique and and complex set. This was back before WOTC built your standard deck for you.
EDH Slivers
I wish they would bring back starter decks.
Simon Cosh yea Alpha/beta starter decks. :/
PW decks are pretty much starters.
deckbuilder's toolkit is pretty much that
I was just talking to my son today about discontinued starter decks.
Merfolk Assassin and War Barge in the same pack! Combo assembled!
Makes me long for the old days :(
Love your videos and your channel Rudy! Thanks for all the great content!
Chapterhouse86 its being reprinted in Iconic Masters
And that duel deck reprint was a long time ago, not too long after Time Spiral itself, probably shortly after Lorwyn (it had Jace after all).
Yeah I realized that after I remembered it was being reprinted in Iconic masters. I payed $60 fucking dollars a piece for 2 of them this spring, wish I had waited, but who knew they would release a second masters set this year.
Haha you where right mr rudy!! Slivers made a great come back
it's awesome to see the original artist that did the doppelganger do that shapeshifter.
ah i miss that set. slivers were one of the strongest, but i played g/b thallids abusing death spore's -1/-1 as a kill mechanic early on. with doubling season and call to arms as the essential kill cards
you should take a closer look to the lands, they are similar to the old days lands of invasion and other expansions, but aged
This came up 6 years later!!! How time flies!!!
I started with time spiral.. I almost quit cause I got the storm starter deck. I didnt understand it at first..
Ooh n a Black boarder Cockatrice! Good stuff! I'm sure this is now a MILLION dollars to open but do one in 19 my man! !
need to go back to some of that style artwork, look so awesome. that and Lorwyn artwork.
hey Rudy, that box that didn't have a foil, do you think it was placed in the common because i noticed that there was a bunch of cards that you didn't go through and just placed it in the pile.
Rudy's comments alone make any of these opening videos more than worth it, HAHAHA! Laughed my brains out with the "epic trailer voice comments"
Awesome cards. I love flagstones. I been watching mtgunsealed for quite a while. He has a good channel. I enjoy his content a lot.
Merfolk Assassin and War Barge had to be put together intentionally. Nice old school combo right there!
Greetings Rudy. Do you have any comments for the 2 sided Ixalan cards that were printed on token paper. They feel like a supple taco instead of a floppy one. cheers.
They have said they intend to revisit slivers in the next several blocks
Red line is not for opening, its indication line for the production packaging line
There were no power cards time shifted in that set. It was zendikar that had power etc inserted in the packs. Only the first print run of Zendikar had them which is what makes the original Zendikar Fat Pack so expensive. They are made from the first print run and then discontinued. If you want to go power/big card hunting, get some Zendikar fat packs and go from there.
lol
I rememebr doing a few sealed tournaments with those and some booster packs
Merfolk Assassin and War barge in the same pack? I know whose winning this sealed tournament.
I came here to say this too, that had to be intentional!
i just posted the same thing! surprised Rudy didn't catch it!
Nice, Merfolk assassin and a War Barge in the same sealed deck.
I'd love slivers in the new core set! Thoughts?
The foil mindstab looks freeeeakin awesome!

I don't play or collect but somehow i've watched like 5 videos in a row. Serious question? do they have a set card list for starter decks? or are they all different?
All are different and contain X cards from the current set at random. However you always get a specific amount of commons, uncommons and rares. All are random from the set.

26:00 😄😵Yep, Rudy for the win commentary.
"Ancestal vision, omg didn't it spike to 20" Rudy I was waiting for it to come down from 50-60 range for the last 7 months 😂😂
Preach it, that artwork is beautiful
