I googled the booster box number and it brought me to a 10 minute long video of Rudy eating tacos. When the video was over my phone rang. It was creepy Rudy and he told me I would die in 7 days.

I started playing around the zendikar block. My favorite standard timeframe was innistrad & rtr, by far. No other standard format comes close. I also religiously collect diregraf ghouls and drogskol captains, because theyre dope.

Same! I loved New Phyrexia, Scars of Mirrodin, and Mirrodin Beseiged too, but Innistrad was the first prerelease I ever went to. I think Innistrad has to be my favorite set ever.

I remember my innistrad box from 2012. Had only 3 mythic: past in flames, reaper from the abyss and balefire dragon, but I had 4 foiled rares: Snapcaster, kurrin outlaw, charm breaker devils and daybreak ranger and also a regular snap caster.

I'm walking down memory lane right now. I'm seeing how much my Innistrad Token deck is currently worth as I watch this. 4x Parallel Lives (1 Foil), 4x Intangible Virtue (2 Foil), 4x Sorin, Lord of Innistrad, 4x Garruk Relentless, 4x Lingering Souls, etc lol I had SO MUCH FUN with this set! I was just getting off drugs at the time and switched addictions to MTG. I'll never forget Innistrad, or sell my token deck lol

This is when I started playing magic. I started collecting cards and getting interested in the game during the phyrexia block, but I didnt know how to play yet. Right as I learned how to play, innistrad came out. This block will always be my favorite🖤
I'm not a fan of standard these days. But this was the best time for standard by far. Dark ascension Friday night magic was JUICY.

i loved pairing old 2012 core set with these cards. my standard UB control deck had karn liberated, grave titan, batterskull, and consecrated sphinx as bombs. and strong innistrad cards like snapcaster, tragic slip, think twice, sever the blood line, and forbidden alchemy. lovely time to play magic

I started playing when Avacyn's Restored came out, but obviously that was part of the Innistrad block so I spent a lot of time with these cards. Maybe it's because I learnt the game with these cards, or maybe it's the aesthetic of the entire block, but Innistrad/Dark Ascension/AR will always be my favourite MTG block. I get so nostalgic about the cards from those sets that I often try to sneak my old favourites into my EDH decks.

  • @aidensnider2431

My first mtg purchase was the 2013 deckbuilder's toolkit, and of the one Innistrad booster, one Avacyn restored booster, one dark ascension booster and one 2013 core, I pulled a Liliana of the veil, and a Gisela, blade of goldnight. to this day, I truly believe that the builder's toolkit boosters are somehow stacked to hook new players. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine in... 2014? born of the gods. he got a Kiora, the crashing wave (when it was more than 2$) and one of the gods.

Tragic slip was my favorite card from that block. Loved it. I actually played until Urzas block ended and then stopped playing until innisrqd block (talk about lucking out on the value) I remember during an FMN we did a draft after. The box they used for prize support (gave away prob half the box) was the closet thing I’ve seen to a “god box” every single pack in the box had 2-3 mystics/rares. The flip card, the regular and a foil. Was nuts. Ended up buying the second half of the box and pulled a foil Lilly and 2 snaps! Still have them. Probably the coolest box I’ve ever seen. Wizards used to do fun stuff like that from what I understand.

Innistrad is the set that got me really into magic, I was playing standard and drafting the hell out of that thing back in 2012. Combined with the Scars of Mirrodin block, I think it was the best time standard ever had. There were so many amazing decks around, I remember people even trying some werewolf madness with playset of Moonmist. It gave birth to really powerful standard deck, the winrates of Delver were off the charts. But you could play Pod, Ramp, Gavony, Esper, Infect, Monoblack, Jund, UW Spirits, UW Flare... And they were all really good! Then Avacyn broke out of the vault and brought another amazing set of cards, giving birth to the sick behemoth ramp deck, reanimation madness and the most troll card of magic ever... Thrun, the Last Troll. Oh I'm kidding, although he was on standard too. Griselbrand is the one, that was fun to see on turn 4. Remember your opponents face when you pulled bonfire or entreats from the top? S-i-c-k. And did I mention that before Scars rotated, M13 came out, and we also had Thragtusk + Restoration Angel combo? Return to Ravnica had some great additions, UW control and BR aggro stands out in my mind. It would seem like the awesomeness had to end with Mayan calendar...

Yep I played back then when I was 9, had a awesome werewolf deck and when huntmaster came out it dominated.

Back then the prevalent deck that wasn't birthing pod was BR zombies, my personal standard deck that threw everyone off was BR vamps and no one liked playing against it since there wasn't much in sideboard then to combat it.
