Brilliant addition by Goruck, this is on my wish list, especially if they offer some cooler colours.

Another great and informative video! Would love to see a side by side of this and the original GR3 45L just to really see the size difference and how much more the larger one holds.
Checkout the first video I did on this
simple is the king! you can fit everything you want in the bag and if you really really need extra capasity( some situation) you can always use the molle webbing
Absolutely...I sometimes forget about the webbing!
So, GR2 40L or GR3 35L? A pack out comparison would be interesting
Nice. I already did a 40 vs 34 GR2 Packout...might do that one. I did compare a bunch of packing in the original GR3 video
Ah now I see what you meant. Thanks for the info. This is a great all arounder for sure.
Do you still find the 34L GR2 to carry more?
I guess I’ll be more specific. If you had to pack for 7 days would you take the 35L GR3 or a GR2?
Yeah, great question...probably the GR2 34L...but it would be close, depend on the season, and depend on whether I'm also working out. The workout clothes add a lot because I choose not to reuse those.
@@JBOutside1 I just did the measurement comparisons with my Tom Bihn Synik 30 and it looks like the GR3 35L is actually smaller. I point that out because I used to EDC the Synik with no problem. Makes me wonder how bad it would be to just get the 40L GR2 and know I have enough room to pack enough for an extended trip in one bag. I am at that 5’9” cutoff though which eventually made me switch away from the Synik.
@@ShoelessPoimen Do you think I should go small with the GR2 34L or bigger with the GR3 45L?! I'm only 5'9" and 150 pounds, so not a large guy. Thanks for your time! I need a 3week+ city travel bag that I can live out but also utilize hotels.
That’s probably a better question for @JBOutside1 but if I had to pack for 3 weeks and knew I could do laundry plus I was going to use the bag for edc while out and about I’d pick the extra organization of the GR2. If you will not have a place to do laundry and just need to take 3 weeks worth of stuff and don’t mind your edc for those 3 weeks being a huge bucket of space I’d go for the big 45L GR3. The 40L GR2 fits me good enough for a shorter trip like that. I picked up the 39L Rucker Long Range and could easily edc that bag for 3 weeks but ultimately I’ll be selling it instead for a 40L GR2 simply because a laptop is mandatory for my travel and the double plate pocket takes up too much interior packing space for me.
Curious if you tried fitting this under seat on plane? Ur also correct about the 210 slipping on shoulders. Not a fan of that material for the shoulder straps. Great video as always
Unfortunately not.
Interesting that the bottom shoulder strap connections are moved in from the edges. Do you feel the bottom of the straps cutting into your waist?
good catch. I don't notice them when wearing it
There's this accessory hanger from dispatch which is neat, uses a strap to hold stuff like jackets and it has a clip hook, I can see that working on the webbing
Nice, I'll check that out
@ghostmonkey0432 do you have link to the hanger
Link?
Gr3 21l pleaseeee
interesting...
Hey JB, great video! How would you compare the GR3 35L to M23 26L capacity wise? Based on your measurement charts, the M23 actually holds more, would you say that's accurate?
Good question! I returned the 26L because of its size. I prefer the clamshell when going that big...but I would say the are very comparable in capacity. The M23 being more flexible throughout the upper range because of the design. The GR3 uses the compression straps so comes down to how flexible you need it to be and the style.
That light looks awesome. Info?

GoRuck website states GR3 not compatible with hip belt. Are you using a different hip belt than what’s on the website/ have a older version of pack?
It says it's not compatible with the "padded hip belt"...which is the one they sell for using on GR1s and GR2s. The GR3 doesn't have side molle to attach that belt.
@@JBOutside1
So the GR 3 35L comes with an included hip belt? Does the Robic version, as well? Not mentioned on their site. Interested in a bag this size, but would like to transfer some weight to hips for longer carries. Thanks for all the great content, JB!
@@adamw6343 It appears the new batch does not include a hip belt any longer. But to confirm you'd need to send them a message.
Which do you prefer for travel after having some time with it, the GR2 34L or the GR3 35L?
It’s actually. If I’m traveling and moving from place to place often I like the livability of the GR2 design. If I’m just going somewhere to stop and then go home the simplicity of the GR3 works better.
@@JBOutside1 thank you again JB.
I'm considering the GR3 45L vs the GR2 34L?
I want the GR2 34L, since you said it packed the same at the GR3 35L. I need 1 bag for 3 week + travel trips, utilizing hotel laundry but also to live out of in transit.
Do you think I should go small with the 34L or big with the GR3 45L?! I'm only 5'9" and 150 pounds, so not a large guy. Thanks for your time!
Depends on how much you’ll be wearing and walking with it. If you’ll be doing a lot of wearing then I’d personally go with the 34L GR2 or 35L GR3 and pack efficiently. If only walking short distances then the larger bag would be ok
@@JBOutside1 Probably lots of walking. Just got back from Tokyo and we hiked around with gear on the streets/subway a decent amount, prefer not to use taxi. You still think the GR2 is superior than the GR3 for the extra packing or was that a special edition GR2 you had?
hi JB, is it true that GoRuck have dropped the GR3? Can only see the 45L in wolf grey, nothing else available on their website
Not true. It’s just not available at the moment
@@JBOutside1 Ok thanks thats great news!
Curious, did yours smell when you took it out of the bag? Got one in yesterday and it honestly smells like dead fish. It’s soaking now!
No problems here
I really like the form factor, it’s big but not clownish and it doesn’t have the bulk of the GR2’s. QAP, side handles, etc. once I get it deodorized it should be gtg but damn it stinks right now!
I wouldn’t put my iPad in that front pocket. It’s way too tight. I’m putting mine inside the bag. Or if I’m not carrying a laptop it’s going inside the laptop compartment
I hear you. I’ve done that for years and no problem with iPads of all sizes.
