This is why they say you should always wash watermelon before cutting it; there are known cases of salmonella poisoning from cutting an unwashed watermelon because the knife drags the pathogens into the watermelon whilst it is being sliced. That said; I've never seen anyone wash a banana before eating it, because, yes Craig, they have peely skin
