You're so right! Been watching lot of reactions to Joost and they all love the song!! Props voor Joost, he actually did what the Eurovision slogan was; united by music 🧡
Just a little extra info from the netherlands here🇳🇱 So Joost lost both of his parents at a young age and considers this song as an ode to europe sent in a letter to his dad. His father always used to tell him that the world has no limitations. In other words everything is possible. And Joost would always watch eurovision with his parents and tell them that one day he would perform at eurovision. Now in the last sentence in his song he says: “see dad? I always listened to you” 🙏🙏🙏
@@renemeyer256I feel like its a resemblance of what could happen if we don't start acting like his very first line: "Europe let's come together". We need that now more than ever
Fuck Duncan❤ this is Art and the Dutch roots are so strong, the roots of electronic music. Bringing Europe together as a tribute to his Papa. Always wondered when such beautiful genre would finally make it to the Eurovision
5:40 Also the look on your face when the happy hardcore kicks in 😆 I can imagine the millions of living rooms across Europe when they first see that bit.
@@bartdegryse9345 de laaste tijd gaat de edm en hardcore music best mainstream. hier en daar hoor je steeds meer hardcore type music. was goed is :) am all for it.
Ladies and gentleman as a Dutch person there is obviously a lot of nostalgia and lovely references, and when you first watch it you are like.... what the... then you laugh after some time and enjoy, and then the emotional puch at the end with the reference to his dad... Issnt it everything we want, europe, feeling good and a gut punching emotional end! I love it! And can you imagine, during the live performances these guys dancing the old school 'gabber' dancing, that would be a party to never forget right?
Yeah, when I first watched it without subtitles I thought Joost Klein was making fun of the EU. But once I read the translation I realised the song captures the whole reason why Eurovision was set up.
This song is a tribute to his father / Parents who passed away when he was 12, his mother passed away 1 year later. Europa in Dutch means Europe. Pa or Papa means dad. His dad once told him the world has no “Grenzen” which could be translated to both borders (Borders are a man made concept) or limitations (Many people create their own limitations in their own mind). This life lesson inspired him to have keep having an open view on the world and live his life to the fullest without putting limitations on himself. After his parents died he carried a lot of pain with him. No matter where on earth he was (Germany, Italy), whatever food he would eat (Escargots in France, Fish and chips in UK, Paella in Spain), he still carries this pain with him. In the end nobody but himself could deal with this pain and he himself must find peace with his losses. Only going through the grief and finding inner peace would put a end to this suffering. This song tells the story of him as an orphan trying to do exactly that. Him creating this song was a huge part of this process. The line with Stromae / papaoute (which Translates to: Dad where are you), is followed with the words about how he wants his parents to be proud of him. He used to watch Eurovision with his parents and told them one day he would be there performing. Which is what he now did. The burning at the end is his way of (trying to) say goodbye to the burning pain of loosing his parents. Joost said about this: sometimes you have to let go of the things that are most precious to you. Where one door closes, many opportunities present itself. Mum and Dad, you will always be there for me, but I can't carry this pain forever.
From what I understand, his father used to work with refugees before he died and learned his children some wise lessons about borders and boundaries are created by humans and the world has no borders. He told Joost he can go anywhere. Years after the death of his father and mother he traveled through Europe, wich was great, but it did not make his pain go away, it traveled with him. Without an explanation it is stil a good song with a happy vibe, but for who is interested it got some layers to peel that will ad an extra dimension to the song. I hope you're all enjoy it as much as I do🎉❤
I keep coming back to your reaction video, after watching many reaction videos, just to dance together with our fellow Europeans to your energetic vibes. Thank you! I love how you react. ❤🎉
Loved to see your reaction! Goosebumps, right. Let's be careful with Europe, is which I feel. And Joost Klein told at the première that the ending meant letting go of the pain of loosing his parents at a young age. The song as a goodbye gift to them. And to new beginnings! Starting with douze points! 😊
I saw you go all out of your head, awesome!! I was amazed I liked it the first time I heard it, and I love it now. There is hope for me yet huh hahaha. Have fun watching Eurovision! Greetings from The Netherlands :)
Thank you so much! I was having a bad day and now I’m smiling like crazy because your video gave me such positive vibes! Thank you, from the northern part of Europe to the southern part of Europe 😊🎉
The song is typical of the Netherlands. It is in Dutch, a music genre, the music video features mills and stunning Dutch landscapes. Eurovision is an emotional affair for Joost. As a child, he watched it together with his parents. "Parents, one day I'm going to be on Eurovision stage" and he made it. Unfortunately, his parents died when he was a child. This song is dedicated to his late father. That's why it's called EUROPAPA. The part in the song “I'm in Germany, but I'm so alone. I'm in Italy, but I still feel the pain, etc.", I feel it's directed at his parents... Joost loved his parents and still does. His lyrics are mostly very deep, but the melody is happy, danceable and the clips of his song are presented in a fun way. I'm so proud of him.
The sounds are early 2000's and some sounds 2010's But new, you know what i mean? And the beat when the people dancing crazy was called happy hardcore and was very popular in the 90's. The dance was called Hakken and the group was calling themselfs Gabbers. O yeah and the godfather of hardcore "DJ Paul ELsak" helpt with the (happy) hardcore beat. He is even in the car (in the clip), the bald guy in the car. Joost Klein lost his father when he was only 12 and a year later his mother died. Song tribute to his parents, and a message to his father i have done it dad. He prommised his dad that he would be performing at the eurovision.
your enthusiasm is really infectious! never thought an italian would enjoy our song as much as i do! i know lots of dutch people hate it but they completely seem to ignore the meaning behind the song
