I have been using this for years now, but the grouping was driving me crazy. Three minutes into your video, I discovered the answer to the question I had been hunting for. Thank you!
Your comment made my day. So happy to hear that it helped you :-)
Q-Dir
All i want to know is how to make it look and act like windows explorer. Click a folder on the left and show the contents on the right. I think your video helped me. Thank you!
Cool
Thank you for the review.
I have been using Q-Dir for 10+ years and am very pleased with the application. Anyone who has dug into the program will tell you that there are many many features that cannot be covered in a short video. Unfortunately, at least for me, the documentation is somewhat sparse and confusing. Spending many hours playing around with the buttons and menus is the way I finally was able to realize its full power.
Originally my base layout was the 4 window view. Now I use the 2 horizontal window layout. This enables maximum space for my tabs across the top of the windows. Also, I make liberal use of saved "favorites" and a "Quick links" tab to enable me to quickly get the 2 folders up that I need. This is just the tip of the iceberg for what you can do, it just takes work to explore these features and to establish your own method of quickly getting to the right folders.
Thanks for sharing your experience and tips. :)
Thank you very much- it seems to be the perfect Explorer for my work!

Thanks for sharing your experience with the program.
I hope it helps the folks like me in their work or academia!
Very nice app and presentation. One issue I am facing is that, once the system gets rebooted, the folders get reset into the initial stage. Is it like that or does anything need to be done to keep it the same way before rebooting the system??
Hi there,
Sorry for late response. You just need to do 2 clicks to have this enabled.
1- Click on 'Extras' from menu bar
2- Scroll to second option 'Starting as'
3- Click on 'Use last view'
And boom you will have this magical explorer keeping your location opened.
Awesome video. Do you know how i can get bigger icons in the topbar. They are so small.
I'm not sure if resizing of icons is allowed but can you be more specific which icons you are pointing to?
@@GetitQuickly The one in the top of the bar. with the arrow to the left and right and to go map up and create new map and refresh etc.
@@Alextelefoon I'm not sure if that's possible I tried to explore but didn't find anything like that I'm sorry!
q-dir freezes when i hover over "open with" in the right click drop down menu
Trying to upgrade your software version. Never heard of this before.
does it only works on local drive? It seems it cannot open folder if it is in a share drive :(
It does work with shared drives as well. I have a network shared drives in my work and I use it very frequently with Q-Dir so for sure it works. :)
