We've just added a new page with FAQs and advice for people upgrading from Directory Opus 12 to 13. New users may also find some of it useful, but the focus is on how to update old toolbars and configs to use new features, and highlight some settings you may want to change if you're used to how old versions worked. docs.dopus.com/doku.php?id=release_history:opus13_upgradetips
Just upgraded and installed the Version 13. Epic! This is the only software that I have been using non-stop on the Amiga and now on Windows since the 90s. Dopus has become a part of my life after all these years. Thank you for always carrying on.
I'm viewing this video in Directory Opus 13. What sorcery is this? Now I can be both productive and unproductive in the same program. Nice work gentlemen.
I only discovered Directory Opus the other day but I bought a license after just 10 minutes of use. No other software has ever impressed me in the way this did. Absolutely incredible piece of work.
Thanks for the update. What a mind-blowing array of new features! Please do an in-depth video course on how to use everything in Directory Opus. I'm sure I'm only using a fraction of what it can do.
Every release is a no brainer upgrade! Directory Opus remains the most prized utility I use, it is simply a wonderful piece of software, congratulations to the whole teams for this awesome release!
The amount of new stuff in v13 is mindblowing... The upgrade went smoothly and the new dark mode is much better than the one I was using. With all the crap that big companies put out, to think that devs still care deeply about their work to release quality software is amazing! Thanks for the continued development of a tool I use constantly, every day!
The first thing I do on any new PC I build is install your brilliant program! I got hooked on this back in the Amiga days, and can't imagine working without it! Will be upgrading to the new version today. Keep up the brilliant work , and thanks!
The fact I started on DOpus 4 then the paradigm shifting mind blowing Dopus 5 on the Amiga, and I'm still using it on my Windows machines today is truly wonderful. Kind of keeps that Amiga spirit alive in many ways. This has literally been a consistent part of my personal and professional life for 30 years! Thank you Jon, Greg and Leo!
I've literally never before been this excited about any upgrade! This release contains so many features relevant to me, it will take me weeks to (happily) go through them all! A big thank you for all your work!
Oh man, so many of these are features I wanted or didn't know I wanted. I wasn't sure I was upgrading soon, but now I have to. edit: 3:55 I've wanted this for years!!! This is awesome.
Come al solito... incredibile! Ho aggiornato appena ho visto il video! La soddisfazione che si prova nell'utilizzo di questo software è pari solo alla guida di una bella moto! Complimenti ragazzi!
This is an incredible update. Thank you very much for the effort and passion to detail. I'm using this program nearly 20 years and it's one of the first to be installed on every new Windows installation. It's an egg-laying jack of all trades and surely one of the best exports from down under.
This is absolutely awesome. I thought, version 12 has all what I need and much more. Now I bought version 13 and there are so much new features which are great and surely useful in everyday work. Leo´s team did fabulous work. I tell everyone about Directory Opus because I can´t imagine how anyone could do serious file management without Dopus!
I have been using this masterpiece of software for several years now and have barely scratched the surface of all it can do. This is the only modern program (they are called PROGRAMS, not "apps") that still creates a sense of child-like wonderment, just like I was first learning about computers as a kid.
Super, i've been using DOpus since v4 on the Amiga (i still have my v4 and v5 disks!) And I consider it one of the essentials no user should be without, as it takes away the pain of using the standard Windows interface.
i first used DOpus sometime in the mid-90s on my Amiga1200 . ..... after +10 years with OSX i've had to come back to Windows and so i rediscovered DOpus. ...... freaking amazing, and i'm just on the Sunshine Coast, i always thought it was kind of weird that the makers of the best file-management software in existence should live so near to me . ..... [Simulation Confirmed] ....... thanks, guys =) ∞
This program just keeps me happy for years now and is an essential tool I rely on everyday. This version in particular has given me many upgraded things I wished for.
I've been in IT since 1990 and this has blown my mind. :-D most amazing app ever. puts the AI LLMs to shame! hahahaha. not enough thumbs exist in the world to thumbs up what you've created. :-D
I would just like to say thank you very much for making these videos I find them very useful and I’d also like to congratulate the team on the new Directory opus ., 13 great work everyone looking forward to all the new features .. and many more new releases to come
Absolut beeindruckend! Top Software!
Is this a video or a reference manual?... and I stupidly though v13 would be a few incremental enhancements... stupid me, this has epics amounts of new goodies. Amazing value :D
interesting file manager but just a bit too expensive. A utility should be no more than perhaps $29. For $60 (USD) it should be a life time license, or at least more than 1 year of free updates. Of course I have only watched the video and looked at the home page. Now that I install the free 30 day I may change my mind if it blows my mind away. Just installed it and it seems like it will be fun to try. B
An absolute beast! This program takes a bit of patience on the use for the first time but trust me, later on you will find everything in this program which makes your life easy and perfect. Superb work guys. Never imagined I will be crushing windows and doing work 10x faster.
Im still rolling since Dopus 10... Was on 12 before this update to 13 and had to renew my expired license. The new features are amazing. Im not going to fanboi but your file manager is some stinky poo compared to Dopus.. believe it.
Well, I have to admit I'm a little dizzy right now, but I'm sure many people here feel the same way. what to do? To be honest, I'm a little nervous about the upgrade because it takes too much time to understand all the options. Am I happy with what I have? I think so.
I've been wanting Opus for years, but the lack of "column view" (like in macOS) is a dealbreaker for me as a creative. One commander has been my alternative for now, but I hope Opus one day reconsiders.
Still use DOpus on my Amigas, after all these years. Still dont use it to its full potential. This new pc version makes so many improvements that M$ coulda shoulda added years ago to standard Windows or offered as a plus purchase option. Glad this is still out there and improving.
Have a look at Power Mode, which lets you reconfigure how the mouse buttons select files: docs.dopus.com/doku.php?id=basic_concepts:the_lister:view_modes
Congratulations Jon, Leo and team. I been using the beta for a while and bought loads of upgrade licenses today for my team. Like others, I've been a diehard user since the Amiga and have bought every version since. 👍
This should replace the official windows explorer is so much powerful! I enjoy this gorgeous software and I can’t even think to stop using! Thanks so much for so much work and keeping update
I use only small fraction of what the tool is capable of. I did my own dark them in 12 quite some time ago. The file modified date has been a source of irritation so good to see its easy to turn off the 'friendly date' format easily in 13. I really need to try and make use of more features. One thing I'd like to see is a built in hash compare. 12 didn't have SHA2, dunno about 13. But it would be good to be able to paste in a hash value somewhere (or point to a txt file with the hash in it) and have it compared to a file I click rather than me manually checking the first and last 6 or so chars and deciding its probably a match!
I upgraded yesterday. Amazing improvements. I also have been using it since the Amiga days. I never go near windows. This is always running on my machine.
my v12.33 is becoming slower and slower when I haven't changed any settings. UI loads up super slow, and even switching tabs between top/bottom panels is super slow. No settings changed, no context menu changes. This is part of the reason i'm hesitant to upgrade. if it's still the same on v13, will i be able to get refund?
Check that you don't have lots of (or any huge) file collections accumulating, as that can slow things down. Other than that, it's most likely to be a problem caused by a shell extension something has installed. The FAQs on our forum have details on how to track down that kind of thing. You can also try Opus 13 for free before buying it, if you want to.
@@directoryopus I had a suspicion that it was caused by the Folder Tree. Googled around and found an old thread with similar issue pointing to folder Tree trying to load network drives. I don't have any network drive, but I turned off folder Tree anyway to test. And immediately UI speed returned to normal. Switching tabs between top/bottom panes no longer lagged. 😮 Not sure why. 🤔 I'll try v13. Do I have to uninstall v13 though, if I want to go back to v12.33? Or can I just install v12 over it? Thanks.
Maybe try putting RoboCop on at the same time in a window next to the video, to make it more exciting. But if something that you'd normally be interested in and which thousands of other people have responded to positively makes you bored, you might be suffering from depression and should talk to someone about that if it continues.
Yes, other currencies are handled automatically via the payments system, which will tell you the price in your currency before you buy. (To get an approximate conversion ahead of time, type "10 AUD in USD", into Google, changing 10 to the amount you need to convert.)
Love the Boing Ball, @IntrinsicPalomides! I was a C64 user, then Amiga 1000, 2000 and 4000. Not sure exactly when I bought DirOpus, but I remember fondly chatting with Leo on Harv Laser's AmigaZone. Saw this channel a couple years ago and was happy to buy DirOpus for my PC. Now I've gotta upgrade, and start making better use of it. thanks, Leo and crew!
Similar to me! VIC-20, C64 then onto Amiga 500, then my brother got 500+, i then bought an A1200 and later 060 GPU/HDD/SCSI upgrades for it etc. I still have those 3 machines but only the A1200 gets any use, no idea if the others even boot up still, probably all corroded by now.
:) I edited some of those out but, yes, some are still in there and unwanted. My fault for messing around with mic settings just before recording and not noticing until it was too late.

Ditto for me. Bought my first copy for Amiga and have not looked back.
Me three
And four. The single most useful piece of software I've ever used.
lol, came here to say this too =P #GoodTimes
My pc operation revolves around Dopus and thats just truth. If im not gaming im using Dopus in some fashion
This is absolutely epic. It's come a long way since the Amiga days, and I've used it ever since. It is a software masterpiece.
I'm viewing this video in Directory Opus 13. What sorcery is this? Now I can be both productive and unproductive in the same program. Nice work gentlemen.
I'm 66 and they'll bury me with my DOpus licence. Thanks for this awesome program.
I only discovered Directory Opus the other day but I bought a license after just 10 minutes of use. No other software has ever impressed me in the way this did. Absolutely incredible piece of work.

The best file explorer in the world got even better. Thank you for such an amazing work!
You certainly know how to tease Amiga users with that Turrican soundtrack.
Great new DOpus release!
Holy shit. You've really outdone yourself this time. Bravo!

I was tossing up about doing the upgrade. Halfway through the video I wasn't . Magnificent piece of work. Congratulations.
The fact I started on DOpus 4 then the paradigm shifting mind blowing Dopus 5 on the Amiga, and I'm still using it on my Windows machines today is truly wonderful. Dopus fan for life... Already upgraded to 13 and very happy with the upgrade! Thank you.6:10 is a life saver for me, as a photographer...

There is a bunch of tools I can't live without and DOpus is one of them. Happy user since the glorious Amiga days.
Same here.
This program just keeps me happy for years now and is an essential tool I rely on everyday. This version in particular has given me many upgraded things I wished for.
I've been in IT since 1990 and this has blown my mind. :-D
most amazing app ever. puts the AI LLMs to shame! hahahaha.
not enough thumbs exist in the world to thumbs up what you've created. :-D
Epic, been using it since Dopus 4 (still use that also) !!
cool, I'm one of the first here. I've been using 13 beta since the first version. This is a better update than version 12, I think.
My "then" 12 year old used it on my computer, and insisted I buy another license for his own computer.
"Any Colours you Like Mode" -- lol
i love it thank you, if only microsoft think like you
Wow... i'm sold. Going to be amazing for large video and photo management
1:28 Can't go wrong with software made by people who put Arnie quotes next to kitten pictures. 👍
I wish there were something as comprehensive as DOpus for macOS. Excellent software!
Incredible. What an overwhelming array of new features. Thanks for summarizing. Server side copying seems like it could be a game change for me.
As usual, you've exceeded my wildest expectations! Congratulations!
You guys should write an operating system!!! :-)
I would just like to say thank you very much for making these videos I find them very useful and I’d also like to congratulate the team on the new Directory opus ., 13 great work everyone looking forward to all the new features .. and many more new releases to come
semper fi siince amiga days
Best file explorer ever made. Bought one for me, and now one for my daughter and son

Phew! fortunately I was sitting when I saw this prodigious update 💡DO13 as soon as I can you will be mine 👍
Is this a video or a reference manual?... and I stupidly though v13 would be a few incremental enhancements... stupid me, this has epics amounts of new goodies. Amazing value :D
Wonderful. But I need to get my head around what I might find useful even though I don't know it yet.
Amazing stuff. Upgraded as soon as I found out!

Great Video and Thanks a lot for the free update I was eligible to.
Really love DO v13. Just bought the upgrade license. Keep up a good works dev!
dopus is just the BEST! simply amazing.
@7:43 made my day "ID3v2 tags are now supported in WAV files" :)
Hope you are making a good income from this software, as you deserve it - period.
Love Dopus. My only gripe is there are so many options I feel like I'm only using 1% of what I could be :)
The best file manager in the world
It is great
Greetings to the development team
Id buy opus but without lifetime updates theres no point
Any chance of a MacOS version? Finder needs help.
Do you know total commander? if so how can I right click on my mouse and highlight files do I can move them
Have a look at Power Mode, which lets you reconfigure how the mouse buttons select files: docs.dopus.com/doku.php?id=basic_concepts:the_lister:view_modes
Can you please do DOPUS for MAC?
Proton Drive doesn't get put in Cloud Storage
This was kingpin on the Amiga. I loved it
i would so get this software if it could replace open/save dialog boxes in other software
You are a monster dude. So many features. In ten years I wont be surprised when you announce OpusOS
Clearly a Men At Work result!
Congratulations Jon, Leo and team. I been using the beta for a while and bought loads of upgrade licenses today for my team.
Like others, I've been a diehard user since the Amiga and have bought every version since.
👍
This is Great, but why you have to talk like that?
Will install preserve my default view settings?
Install 13 over the top of 12 and your old settings will be preserved / converted. We recommend doing a config backup in 12 first, just in case.
This should replace the official windows explorer is so much powerful! I enjoy this gorgeous software and I can’t even think to stop using! Thanks so much for so much work and keeping update

💖💖💖💖
You're doing God's work. ❤
can i assorted folder as i wish?
I upgraded yesterday. Amazing improvements. I also have been using it since the Amiga days. I never go near windows. This is always running on my machine.
You read my mind. Everything i hoped for is in this update. A masterpiece ! Thanks a lot for this great job.
Could not resist to immediately upgrade as soon as I got the pop up. I LOOOOVE this software so much, thank you for the effort put into this.

Prodigious work! More features than most could even conceive of, let alone use. "Best in class" is a gross understatement.
❤❤❤
I would like to know if I paid for the 13 would I be getting anything extra as a new customer
Just a freaking awesome tool, from someone who used to use Opus on the Amiga it's truly epic how good this software is!
i own, use and like directory opus. but this video is boring af.

wow this is a monumental update to an already powerful program, I am currently using 12 !!!
Looks very nice indeed, use it for years, wil absoluteley upgrade to 13
Awesome tool 👍😀👍
Okay, but I want the cat.
can it be used here in the united states? i went to the website but found it in Austrian currency.
Yes, other currencies are handled automatically via the payments system, which will tell you the price in your currency before you buy. (To get an approximate conversion ahead of time, type "10 AUD in USD", into Google, changing 10 to the amount you need to convert.)
Thank you
Is there any way to see all files by date from all folder at once?
Forum thread for same question: resource.dopus.com/t/see-all-files/49606
Nice.
Loved this overview, and excited to see some more activity on this channel. Thanks!
