I personally use age ratings to determine whether or not I can read a book, not because I want to know if I can handle reading it, but because I don’t want to get in trouble with my parents. I’m sure I could handle reading certain 18+ books even! But my Christian parents would definitely disagree and I would rather not get the privilege of picking out my own books taken away. I stick to books that are 15+ or under and even that’s a stretch sometimes!

I think you should think about the age limits you put in this video, especially for icebreaker. for some teenagers that might be fine, but for most that book is very smutty and shouldn’t be marketed towards teens
I’m 10 and I’ve read it. My parents know I’ve read it and aren’t worried about it. I’m mostly a good kid and I wouldn’t do any of the things in the book that actually happen..me and my mom did have that talk too so it didn’t traumatize me at all. Yes it was a little sus but it was interesting too

If you liked Harry Potter read Keeper of the Lost Cities I guess Keeper is getting to be pretty popular but HP is endlessly popular lol Basically KOTLC has similar world building to HP and a the beginning starts really similar too. Basically (trying not to spoil anything) it starts the same like a person gets taken to a new world and finds out they’re different than ordinary humans

I feel like a book that's not talked about a lot of booktok or even at all but it's such a good book and I definitely recommend is called Tuck Everlasting. It's great for kids because it doesn't have any inappropriate scenes in it. It's definitely a harder read tho. It's about a girl who meets this immortal family and they take her with them to their house out in the woods. The plot twists are amazing and i definitely recommend!
