That colorful box is called a “silent butler.” Used to sweep crumbs into or dump ashtrays. My mom had a silver one.
Now that you mention it I seem to recall it from so long ago. My Mamaw had that collection pan for dry table scraps. There was never any smoking in her house.

The flip flops are huarache sandals from Mexico, so, they go perfectly with the sombreros.
I can honestly say my style has never been mid century modern. I guess it would be traditional. But after many episodes of your videos I have come to really like your thrifting choices. Your decorating is lovely and I can now spot items at my local Goodwill's and think, "Laura would put that in her cart". Wish you were on more often!!

It's so nice seeing my old haunts. I miss Oregon but northern Cali is home now. Red white and blue was my favorite.
I remember the Red White and Blue store. My grandma used to call it the “year round garage sale” 😂

Please please please don't ever get birds and put them in one of those round cages. They're really bad for birds psychologically, because they like to climb around the edges of their cages they go crazy just going round and round and not feeling like they're reaching a destination, corners provide a reference point for birds when they're climbing. Also a cage with flat sides means one side can go against a wall and the bird has a safe space that they know no one is going to sneak up on them from behind. The round cages are also physically dangerous because all the bars come together at the top and for tight spaces where birds could get their legs or beaks caught and injure themselves.
Hi GodessSiri ... I think those cages should have a sticker on them .. that says ' for plants only ' ... no living moving creature should be confined to such a small space !! ... :)
Yes those round cages are for decor....
My favorite thing to do is dig.....you never know when you will strike gold....or silver!

Hi Laura! Always fun to thrift with you! I just returned from a sweet little town in Florida called micanopy. My daughter and I found lots of antique treasures. The fun part is unpacking it and saying" of yeah I got that!".
I have some beautiful jewelry pieces I purchased in Micanopy.
My cousin had her wedding there at the beautiful mansion house. Our whole family stayed there all weekend. Great little town!
I had one of those fiberglass planters in white for years and finally donated it. I had NO IDEA of the value! I will be looking for more. I like yours in natural better!

Yep! I had fun tagging along on the trip...thanks for inviting us! ...I saw your plant stand here in southwest VA a few years ago at an antique shop. I've also seen the dining set for sale at an estate yard sale a number of years ago. Very pretty furniture. Now that I've seen that plant stand again it makes me want to find one! I can walk now very very short distances on a quad cane and I can go to our local easy access Goodwill but still am unable to do much walking or spend hours having fun thrift runs like I did in the past. ...Thanks for sending healing light my way...the cosmos recognized the value of spirit in doing it. I send the same to you and yours as you begin living new in your new home.
They always seem to be in such great condition so I think they hold up so well over time. I hope you find one again soon 😄 I think a fern in them looks amazing!

Thanks for being here. We have just gone into lockdown in my state. No thrifting for me. I agree the flip flops can go go go. A plain tuquoise or coarl bead as the spacer would be so much better.
