Today is girls day! My amazing friend Michele joins me and we hit downtown Hillsboro for some coffee and antiquing. I've known Michele since I was a little kid ❤️ She worked for my family business as an artist for over 30 years. She is one of the kindest most amazing humans I've ever known and I'm happy to share her with all of you 😊 Coffee and antiquing is one of our favorite things to do together. We used to take our lunch work breaks to go hit Goodwill back in the day and it is so fun to thrift together once again.

1.) I so appreciate that you don't break up sets of things like how you didn't purchase the crane salt and pepper shaker.
2.) I feel like a tour of Michele's home would be amazing as it seems like she has such amazing taste.

WOW what a difference it made with the glass votives removing the red. I remember buying a paint that dried and made clear glass look like frosted glass. I took baby food jars and painted with red & green for Christmas. Looks like that is what that was on those... That is a great way to get your animals to drink water!!

Those carved shoes brought back memories. My dad was stationed in the Philippines in 1959 when I was 8 years old. I fell in love with those shoes. I had to have them and after much begging my parents did buy them for me. I hung on to them for years and regretfully sold them in one of my yard sales. But it started me on a journey of adoring handmade items from around the world.
Thank you for not breaking up the sets. Whomever buys them will be delighted to have all the pieces.
Your cat drinking from the fountain was so funny. My two cats would definitely have done the same thing. They love drinking from the faucets.
Getting that cheesy red film off those beautiful candle holders was such a transformation. They looked beautiful.
The 2 brass “scoopers” are actually irons. People used to put hot coals in them to iron their clothes. Lovely Video Laura.

My grandmother had one paired with a brass and enameled cigarette box..the iron as an ashtray. The cigarette box held non filter cigarettes. I remember seeing them in the late 40's...they are now mine.

My mother-in-law saw those brass irons used as personal warmers by women sitting and selling in the markets in Japan (she was there in the early 50s just after the war). They put charcoal in them and slid them under their skirts!

Your cap looks so great! Almost reminds me of a Greek fisherman's cap that I have! Only for winter though- it's kinda itchy wool! 😁 I see so many things in your videos that remind me of the things I grew up with- keep having fun and wishing you much success 🌻🌞

Those candlesticks look spectacular! When you first showed an overview of your first haul, I thought they were kind of cheap and cheesy looking. Scraping the red mess off has elevated them to very elegant. 👍🏻

Great video and finds! I think the butterfly wing ring is actually Mexican Fire Opal and if so, it’s a very distinct stone!
Personally I think it's art glass (I'm an AGTA cert. gemologist) but could definitely be wrong

I love cats they do have to check everything coming through the door!!! I think you're going to have to water your fountain a lot because that cat is perfectly okay with drinking water from there. By the way you're so blessed to have a husband that loves antiquing as well

That ring at the end looks like a Mexican opal to me. Cucumber or tomato flower garnishes would look really nice in the openings of your pipe holder.

Omg, That is a french chocolate pot with those swan cranes and matching piece, look at the bottom! look at it, and grab that! it looks like matching salt and peppers too, awesome price!

I own a full complete set of those canisters, mine are irredescent and hand painted I think from Germany, Im just missing the vinegar I think. They are valuable but they dont sell around here.

You gotta be careful to keep water in the water fountain now that the cat has discovered it because if the pump runs dry it will burn out...

The Mexican silver ring looks like it has a foil glass stone in it. It was created to mimic opals. You found some amazing pieces!

The best videos!! Loved seeing Michele! For the wooden snack tower you could also use it for makeup storage and use the holes for brushes!! Or if staying with the snack theme perhaps a rolled napkin would fit in the holes and add colour! I love reworking jewelry as well ❤ I'm also obsessed with MCM and 70s Clothing!! The funny thing is that if I as an older person would have something like the mushroom salt and pepper set for which I used to have the matching pieces my children say oh look mom still has all her old stuff. She needs to get rid of all this stuff. But when Laura puts those old pieces in her home it looks fresh and cool!!!!

My favorite part of the video is Fuzzy kitty drinking out of the fountain! So adorable! I've been thinking about getting one for my 2 kitties, Romeo and Boo Boo. Oh, I love the skirt too! I'm so happy it turned out for you. It was calling your name and now it's perfect with your lace-up boots. I can't forget to mention how perfect your husband's birthday gift is for you! I want one! I love the music you use in your videos. It is so soothing and the choice finds you make have me interested in what you will do with them. To me, a lot of this stuff is just junk but to have an eye and find treasures is such a gift.
The brass scoops are Chinese silk irons, you fill cavity with hot coals.

Candles turned out great! Loved the jewelry and the water fountain too! You might find a bowl to fit the humidor part of the pipe holder and then find skewers for the holes and use it for dipping sauces!
Cat natural instinct from times before domestication prefer to drink moving water. Running water is a healthier choice in the wild - much less bacteria. Most cats including my 4 will always prefer drink from the sink or a fountain type water bowl vs. just a bowl. It's instinctual! =)
