At 4:45, that piece of jewelry from India, that long piece goes across your face to your nose. Some women have their nose pierced just to wear this kind of jewelry, but now days they mostly just hook it onto their nose somehow. It is very common in India, and very beautiful with their black hair and head coverings.
They can also go over the ear and on to the back of the ear to help offset the weight if the earring on the ear. If not, they go toward the back and pinned to the hair.
The black 1950’s sterling earrings which you thought was not glass or crystal is most likely Bakelite instead. Bakelite was at the height of fashion in the 1950’s which makes them highly collectible and valuable. Cheers
Hi The Indian jewelry piece that you picked at 4:40 is a ear-ring, if the other end had a hook then it would be hooked in the hair. If you google "jhumka earring with hair chain" you will see how it is worn. These are normally worn on special events, weddings, festivals, etc. But in this one, the chain just goes over the ear, the loop at the end goes behind the ear. "jhumka earring with ear chain" supports the weight of the earring so the ear holes dont get stressed. The jade necklace set at 07:00 is an Indian "chokar necklace". The slider rope instead of a metal chain is a very Indian jewelry design. The little star at 24:02 is used like a charm that young kids attach to the zipper of a bag.
I’m from Vancouver and buy vintage jewelry. Never knew about thrifting like this. I’m new to your channel and this category of videos. Your videos are my fav. Your excitement and positivity makes each piece extra fun! ❤🎉😊
The 梅 Enamel pendant is not cherry blossom, it's Prunus mume, “梅” is asian plum or apricot. They blossom in late winter before the spring, so we regard them as Three Friends of Winter, stand for character of resilience.
Wow, thank you so much!! I just learned something new! Three Friends of Winter sounds so interesting, I'm going to research that a little more. Thank you, I appreciate you watching my channel!! 😊💖
Great finds in there! The small "keychain" with the black cord is a cell phone charm, which can be looped pulled through on a purse strap loop, wallet pull, etc.
Sometimes, once in awhile you can fund some nice stuff in the thrift stores now. People used to donate really good stuff to the thrift stores but then the thrift stores started jacking up the prices a lot. Many people complain to me about the high prices at thrift stores now. People stopped donating and now give their stuff away for free to someone in need. They all say they would donate but the thrift stores turn around and jack up the prices. I can purchase brand new qood quality natural fiber clothing for close to the same price the thrift stores are charging for polyester and vinyl junk. The thrift stores quite often keep the good items and auction them off too.
The prices are getting a little out of hand! Especially the chain locations. There are still a few locally owned that have good prices for good stuff, like the old days. Thanks so much for watching my video! 💖
@@AliBorealis I was told just the other day by one of the higher-ups in management at the Goodwill (upper management just happened to be visiting the store I was in that day) that they are really tired of resellers coming in and hoarding the nicer items so they had to jack the price up to help deter them. She said, unfortunately the every day person who is not reselling is paying the cost of that. They originally opened their stores so that every day people could come in and shop and that’s what they really want to get back to. That’s just what was explained to me when I was complaining about there hardly ever being anything good anymore on the shelves, and everything that is there is high priced and not worth the price they were asking. To be fair, before a lot of people started to resell I found many beautiful and highly valuable items at Goodwill which I will always cherish, so I sort of understand where they’re coming from. These days it’s a rarity to find anything like that if you aren’t a reseller. The flippers and resellers in our area are cutthroat and they come in five or six times a day as fresh cards come out. Some are even rude as they muscle in with lightening speed grabbing what they can. It is really kind of brutal. That’s in Southeastern Ontario. Oh, and the difference in money you were talking about at the first of your video is called an exchange rate, and it fluctuates all the time. Sometimes the rate is even, sometimes it’s higher and sometimes it’s lower. It’s been quite a bit lower on the Canadian side for a while now. Just FYI.
This is such a wonderful idea. I miss hearing her voice and her inspiring words. I’ve been working on my projects and am thinking of her often. She taught me so much about beading. Keep her memory going. I’ll be watching. 🙏🏻
I just discovered your channel. Amazing jewelry haul! I live in the Toronto area and regularly buy jewelry jars from my local SA. I love the treasure hunt. Just FYI, the earring at 32:33 marked Butler is from a company called Fifth Avenue Collection. The company was founded in Canada and their head office is based out of Moose Jaw, SK, but their collections are sold around the world. I find their pieces quite regularly. Their necklaces usually have a hang tag with the logo FAC, but bracelets and earrings are marked Butler (after the family that founded the company). They have been in operation for almost 30 years. Their sales model is similar to Avon or Sarah Coventry where they recruit representatives for home parties etc. Great channel, I look forward to learning more from you!
Thank you! Love the information on Butler! I've learned so much about jewelry made in Canada from making this video! I had no idea Sherman jewelry is a Canadian company. 24:01 The keychain like item with the charm says best is actually a cellphone charm used on those old models of cellphones with a hole to attach it which almost can not be found on today’s new smartphones. My mom sold Sarah Coventry when I was in high school. Over the past 5 plus years I started collecting it as so much of it was found in my jewelry jars/bags. Internationally, SC designed and sold completely different pieces, with Canada having its own line. Only best selling pieces of SC/USA were sold internationally. I have all 3 books on SC and one on Emmons. It was in the Emmons book that I learned about their Canadian line of jewelry. Also, the first Indian earring you showed that had a string of beads on it with a loop- connects to a nose ring. Nice finds.

The AB peacocks At the beginning are absolutely gorgeous! I may have to hit you up on those babies lol. The two-tone necklace with the earrings and rhinestones and definitely the Jade one they look like they could be from the Raj collection, pieces from India .I believe at one time they sold on HSN and the other jewelry channel.Beautiful beautiful pieces so far I'm only at18 minutes lol Can't wait to check out the rest

Hi, this first thing would be to use a magnet, if it sticks to the magnet, it's not gold or sterling. Then you can get a simple acid testing kit (I linked it below). Never put the acid on the pieces, always do a light rubbing on a place that isn't noticeable. Thank you! I appreciate you watching my channel! 😊💖 amzn.to/3UEoZM8
That earring that you're talk about has that long piece to it you put that on the back of the earring before you put the class on that's just a different style I remember that from the 80s

Hi I’m new to your channel. I love vintage jewellery here in Australia. I was just wondering machine you use to check the stones please Thanks great channel very informative
The one earring with music notes is an Irish earring looks like someone was using it as brooch. Also the black scarf tie is worth money it's from the 40s with plastic was the cats pjs. The black thing with charm is a cellphone charm. Back in the 90s we use to loop thoes on the back thro the screw metal kinda part. And kids also use to on there psp hand held Playstation controller.
The earring with the red stones at the bottom but was missing a clear stone you put to crafts, what would you want for them. Also where are located in the US ? Love the video's

Hi, AB stones are for aurora borealis. They were invented in the 1950s and are rhinestones with an iridescent coating that give it a shimmer. It's what my channel is named after! Thanks so much for watching! 😊💖
In the UK, charity goods have a shelf life and shops are under pressure to turn stock over, so maybe some of the sets you pick up just didn’t sell quickly enough?
Hi!why, wouldnt you just replace the stone missing in the sparkly earrings on the card? You can save the stones for crafting, why the earrings are brand new?im sure someone would by them for $3.00 or more or around the christmas season later on.
Thank you for the idea! I'd love to pass it on to someone who likes doing stone replacement. I've tried and I just make a mess out of the glue!! 😂 Thank you for watching my channel!

Hello, I am a fan of yours who also loves jewelry. How did you go about buying that lot in Canada? I am interested in buying a lot like that there. Thank you very much. Blessings. 🥰🙏🏻
Hi, I purchased this one at a Salvation Army in Vancouver. I just happened to be there at the right time when they brought it out from the back. I'm not sure where you live in Canada, but I'd start with asking a few thrift stores in your area if they do these bags, then try to get one from there. Thank you! I appreciate you watching my channel. 😊💖
Not sure if someone has answered it for you. The black cord with two charms is for the hole in the old phones and tablets or stylus with metal loops to tie through. Pull cord through, open loop then pull charms through.
that earring with the long double strand of garnets hooks onto your nose, I believe. That jade necklace and earring set is beautiful. all from India, I would say.
Would love to see you purchase from Palm Beach Florida. Lots of retirees live there. I follow a thrifter on Instagram who shops home goods and the Antiques she finds are incredible.
Ooouu, I was on a health care worker contract in Miami for 4 months, and regularly thrifted all the way up to Palm Beach. They had the most fantastic jewelry that came through those stores on a daily basis!! I'll need to get back there!! I appreciate you watching my channel! 😊💖
The heart saying “the variety club” a new design is made every year to support charity and are only available from Tesco supermarkets, here in the UK 🇬🇧 they cost £1 each, but the older they are the more value they have, I have the whole set up until 2006. So missing some but you can go online and buy the ones your missing.
You could make a pendant out of the earring w musical instruments and put a stone inside the maybe purple to match the stones or pink!awesome looking pendant for a music teacher, or those that play those instruments !😊
My Grandmother once bought a watch from a thrift store in Roseburg, Or. turned out to be a 1933 18k white gold art deco watch with small diamonds & sapphires. It was beautiful and the movements inside, Behind the face had small rubies .. my dumb 18 year old arse took it to a jeweler so that I can wear every day.. he took everything out of the back of the face of the watch and put in a battery one and kept what was inside. I’ll never forgive myself for that! I was so naïve!
Please check gold tome necklace with rhinestones with dangle ..may be gold and diamonds ..markings for this gold are hard to find and written differantly

That earring that you're talk about has that long piece to it you put that on the back of the earring before you put the class on that's just a different style I remember that from the 80s
I've always thought old earrings with old beads orange Sterling or gold was still worth something cuz the beads are old too
I have an old necklace and it has old beads in between the pearls and I had it checked it is real pearl s
Or brooches
The two charms with the cord was used to attach to a cell phone. I had one there used to be a hole on the cell phone to thread through .
That little thing with best and a star can be used for camera or cellphone case as handles
Zipper necklace is from the 1980's... I had one as a young girl... my mom actually got us matching ones... not real gold or silver but totally fun!!

The black thing with charm is a cellphone charm. Back in the 90s we use to loop thoes on the back thro the screw metal kinda part. And kids also use to on there psp hand held Playstation controller.

Thank you, I'll take another look! I appreciate you watching my channel! 😊💖
I wonder if the earring with the beads, if the longer part reaches the nose? Perhaps that was how it was worn?😊
That's quite a bag you got!! Great things in there congrats!! The Jade set was my favorite 😍
Thank you! It was a good one! I actually have the jade set in an auction right now if you’re interested in buying it. I appreciate you watching! 💖😊 ctbids.com/estate-sale/24710/item/2655617/Jade-Necklace-Earrings-Set
Great video! Remind me what AB means? Thanks 😊
Aurora borealis
Hi, AB stones are for aurora borealis. They were invented in the 1950s and are rhinestones with an iridescent coating that give it a shimmer. It's what my channel is named after! Thanks so much for watching! 😊💖
Is spinel another name for aquamarine? Nice bag
Hmm, I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Thanks, I appreciate you watching my channel. 😊💖
@23:00 "JWBR" is a trademark for Renaissance Jewelery Of New York, Inc. since 1998.

1:05:25 look for a stamp on the white heart.
My fav was that diamond necklace.,very nice 😊
It's very pretty! Thanks so much for watching my channel!! 💖
In the UK, charity goods have a shelf life and shops are under pressure to turn stock over, so maybe some of the sets you pick up just didn’t sell quickly enough?
Are those rhinestones in that beautiful clear stoned and gold
They probably are, do you have a time stamp and I can tell you?
Hi!why, wouldnt you just replace the stone missing in the sparkly earrings on the card? You can save the stones for crafting, why the earrings are brand new?im sure someone would by them for $3.00 or more or around the christmas season later on.
Thank you for the idea! I'd love to pass it on to someone who likes doing stone replacement. I've tried and I just make a mess out of the glue!! 😂 Thank you for watching my channel!
Love that first rhinestone necklace.
Very pretty!! Thanks so much for watching my channel! 💖
Blue heart earring is 80s I had that pair. Maybe 1928? I don't remember the brand.

I dabble in jewelry, if there are one of a kind earrings etc. I might make a pendant. The vintage bracelet is a filligree design, I think 😅🎉❤
Thank you!! I have quite a few single earrings, some are vintage branded and very beautiful. Let me know if you'd like to purchase anything! 💖
The earring that hooks to something actually hooks to the nose or nose ring which can be a hoop.
The Indian earring - the bead strings pin to your hair or loop around the ear and from the front and go into the back where u put the backing
The extra part of the dangle earring some of them connect to the hair some how.
Interesting! I'll have to google some image to see what that looks like. Thanks so much!
Wow, thank you for explaining that!! I appreciate you watching my channel! :)
that earring with the long double strand of garnets hooks onto your nose, I believe. That jade necklace and earring set is beautiful. all from India, I would say.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching my channel! 💖
Wonderful video. Thanks!
Thank you, I appreciate you watching my channel! 😊💖
Pretty wedding set
Very beautiful! Thanks for watching! :)
You could make a pendant out of the earring w musical instruments and put a stone inside the maybe purple to match the stones or pink!awesome looking pendant for a music teacher, or those that play those instruments !😊
Great idea! It’s a very sweet earring for music lovers. 😊
Your last green dangle earrings match your green necklace, same color an round, but necklace is oblong if i remember correctly.😊
I’ll look at that again, thanks!!
Oh my, I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm sure it's a beautiful watch none the less. I appreciate you watching my channel! 😊💖
Please check gold tome necklace with rhinestones with dangle ..may be gold and diamonds ..markings for this gold are hard to find and written differantly
Thank you, I'll take another look at it! I appreciate you watching my channel. 💖
The 80' s are coming back!😅🎉❤
They so are!! I see it in my teenager's fashions. Thanks so much for watching! 💖
Is the bracelet silver w blue stones, spenal means ?to you?
I’m just becoming familiar with spinel. I hadn’t heard of it before I got my gem tester! 😂 It might be blue topaz as well.
the India style earring with the hanging cord...hooks to a nose ring
Love the 90% silver
It's even prettier in person! I sold it a few months ago. Thanks, I appreciate you watching my channel. 😊💖
