The Choir knows but sadly many will never get to realize this man’s talent. He’s a modern day Springsteen, once in a lifetime artist! Does not have one bad song, not a one.
Thanks for putting to words why I dig this Cat so much. I'm a Springsteen fanatic since about 81'. And I should have seen that. BTW, 'Crazyland' is one of the most brilliant songs/stories I've ever heard.
Ironically as a huge fan of the Boss it was Eric`s "Springsteen" being played on the UK`s Country Hits radio station that alerted to me to how good Eric was. That is such a clever song, not actually about Bruce, but loaded with references to songs that Bruce has made. I see so many of the qualities I love in the music that the Boss produces in Eric`s work. These kind of artists only come along rarely and have to be enjoyed whilst we have them. Sadly, in the UK anyway, Eric is very much an under the radar artist, known only to fans of country music. I hope when the Covid thing is over and everything settles back to some form of normality he may tour the UK and even better Scotland.
I meant to say, as much as Bruce is a great artist in his own right, combine him with the E Street band and you are in musical heaven. Likewise with Eric, an exceptional artist in his own right, but add in his backing musicians, especially Joanna and you are taken to another musical level.
Springsteen is a good musician but holds anti-American views... and I'm starting to wonder about Eric Church. I think he's been in California too much lately.

Seen EFC at Rockin' Riverfest in Merritt, BC, and the vibe in the crowd was exactly what this song is about.

It was the last concert that my daughter and I were at together. She passed away 01/03/18. I don't know how to adequately explain the depth and affect Church's music has in my life.....

Church has such a great voice and crafts a sound with lyrics that strikes at the heart and head. It’s like seeing an old friend that you have known for years and when you run into him it’s like no time has passed and you pick right back up where you where.. Eric is just one of the best song writers in music today. Not just country but any form of music as far as I’m concerned. He does not have a lot of numbers ones, but he has more unique, original and rememberable songs than most Country Singers with 50 years don’t have as many I’d know. I’m same with Kip Moore, their music is always original and that leaves a lasting memory when it comes to separating out the noise

But to put it into better words, I went ahead and copied it for you for better words: "On Sunday, October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd of 22,000 at the Route 91 Harvest music festival during Jason Aldean's set. Sixty concertgoers were killed and over 800 injured in the deadliest mass shooting in US history. Church had performed at the festival two days before, and when he wrote this song with Luke Laird and Barry Dean, they reflected on the tragic event. The singer dedicated "Through My Ray-Bans" to the survivors of the Route 91 mass shooting."

@iDad1976 It's not about being at his concert at all. It's about the biggest mass shooting in u.s. history during a concert, which happened at the same location where he performed, just 2 days prior. I don't find that magical at all! It's sickening and heartbreaking. That's why he wishes he could see everybody the same through his Ray Bans when he was last there, they were alive.

Him and Kip Moore are two of the greatest musicians and songwriters but they are sadly somewhat underrate. Every song by them is good imo!

not too much "real" Country out there but Eric Church is at the top of the game. This song is definitely SOY material.
@Michael W. Not so much "fake" but a manufactured "pop" sound. Some artists like Wallen, Riley Green, Church, Childers hold the country sound together for some us looking for the next Willie, Merle, Twitty. IMO

POT FARMER SONG $$
I got out my pipe and stuffed it with pot
You better believe, it held a whole lot.
I whipped out a lighter and thumbed up a flame
Then sucked down that smoke which comforts my brain.
I tried alcohol; and smoked cigarettes
Though, they did nothing, but give me regrets.
My mom had arthritis and couldn't walk around
When I rolled her a joint, she danced on the ground.
I thought I was losing my lovemaking knack
But, after I smoked some, to me it came back.
Soon I decided prices were high
So I searched for some ground I wouldn't have to buy.
I bargained for seeds from smokers all around
Then, got in my truck and drove out of town.
I walked through the woods where the wild birds nest
And found me the meadow I thought was the best.
I dug up the ground and sowed all my seeds
Then said a small prayer for strong, healthy weeds.
I watered at night with a five-gallon pail
The mosquitoes went hungry for I wore a veil.
Seven months went by; I thought I would die
Till the Halloween moon was high in the sky.
At night I went out, in my camouflage suit
And used a corn knife to chop down the loot.
I hung it up to dry where it couldn't be found.
Then came back and got it, when it had turned brown.
I trimmed off the buds, and stuffed them in bags
Called all my friends and passed out free drags.
In less than a week my crop was gone
But I flew to St. Thomas with a love hungry blonde!!

I've sit with alil pot buzz and just listened and watch this man sing. Got to tell yeah, he's amazing as a singer but to watch him let the song take him away it's a pleasure to behold. Keep it up Chief !
