@@JackAttack301yes the Liquid Metal used to cool down the cpu can become runny during intensive games running and if vertical can drip down your motherboard and cause damage
That's because the liquid metal thermal paste tends to have issues if you leave it on vertically too long. The PS5 basically needs to be on its side to run properly.
Its not "on its side"....its in the correct orientation for the way its designed.... horizontal, due to the orientation of the disc drive (if u have one of course).
Better to keep your PS5 horizontal anyway friend. Vertical PS5's will begin to overheat after ~3 years due to the liquid metal pooling towards the bottom of the APU which results in oxidation and hot spots towards the top of the APU.
I was literally told the PlayStation five cannot sit up on his side because of complications with overheating this mostly has to do with the first few models they came out I’m happy with my PlayStation five laying on its side I think it would look awkward because it’s bigger than bulky as it is
Not only can it it be used horizontally, but it's actually the preferred orientation for all PS5 models including the latest Slim. There's a ton of reasons for this but mainly because the PS5's APU gets extremely hot and as a result, Sony used liquid metal instead of typical thermal paste between the APU and the cooler. When the PS5 is placed vertically, the liquid metal will pool at the bottom of the APU as it gets hot, which is inevitable, and the liquid metal becomes more viscous and drips down and then the sponge like material around the APU designed to prevent the liquid metal from dripping on other components and shorting something out, which is good, but without a doubt, the top of the APU will develop a dry spot, where the liquid metal is all pooled up on the bottom, being held by the sponge like material. When this happens, if the unit is still used without reapplying Liquid Metal, the top of the APU with the dry spot or drastically reduced amount of liquid metal at the top can start to oxidize, resulting in even worse thermal conductivity and this is the point where the PS5 will either be virtually unusable due to it constantly shutting down from overheating, or it may die completely. If you're running your PS5 (any model) vertically, and it's been that way for a significant amount of time and it has a good amount of play time. I highly suggest either you or someone equipped to do so, take it apart, clean it out, and clean up the pooled Liquid Metal on the APU, remove any oxidation (if applicable) and reapply the liquid metal and cooler. Then, run your PS5 in the horizontal orientation to avoid any future problems. Many people argue against this because on PC's, the CPU is always vertical and people dont have nearly as many problems with that. And that's can be for a few reasons. Mainly though, PC's usually have more adequate cooling solutions, due to the larger enclosures and more capable cooling solutions. First off, typically the only people that use liquid metal on PC's are enthusiasts and very knowledgeable regarding computers, tech, and so on, so they will be much more privy to avoiding, catching, and/or fixing these sort of things. On the other hand, consoles are used by the masses from small children, teens, to even some folks pushing 50 or above and their knowledge in regards to tech and the like vary even more than their age. As a result, consoles are typically used in environments and ways that are not ideal, like in vertical orientation and/or stuffed in a cabinet with little to no ventilation or cooling, or used on a rug or placed anwyhere possibe often being heat soaked by over devices, or in a dusty corner, in the sun, and rarely ever maintained. Conversely, PC enthusiasts will also typically use a custom water loop or some good cooling solution. Moreover, PC's CPU's don't tend to get quite as hot as the APU in the PS5 as PC's will most often have a dedicated GPU, and the modern chips are also more efficient. Moreover, the other main reason is it;s much more common and easy to dissassemble a PC to check the thermal compound or liquid metal and reapply. So usually people with liquid metal thermal compound on their CPU end up taking apart their system to check/reapply much more frequently so the issue never get's a chance to cause a real problem. Lastly, PC's have monitoring systems that are much more accessible to the user, so if any over heating does occur, the user will be aware of it right away and likely will investigate the potential cause.

PS5 uses metal liquid for cooling. I keep mine on its side because of the problems other people had setting it up vertically and having the liquid metal spill onto the components and shorting them out.
I also have mine on it’s side. That way it doesn’t fall as easily
💀💀💀 the fact he had to tell people this shows how rare a ps5 is
Lmao
Not even cause every PS prior was able to do this 😂
it's in the quick start guide, it shows you where to place the stand
Standing your PS5 vertical is dangerous the liquid metal can spill on the motherboard💀
Bruh
He just said it read the freaking comments dude
And its in a manual playstation doesn’t want people crying so yeah
If you look at the quick setup guide that CAME WITH THE SYSTEM it tells you how to set it up vertically... and horizontally.
I usually place it on the side because it blocks 30% of my TV screen when i even place it vertically .
That’s why I lay mine on it’s side as well! The PS5 is a tank!
Same bro
30% of your tv? Man's got a PS5 on a 32 inch tv 😂 it'd be like less then 5% of my tv if it was in front of my tv but I got it's own table next to the tv for it
@@Chris420x1 50 inch, if i had a 32 inch I wouldn’t see shit lol.
@@TH-rx1kt then it's more like 15% if you have a 50" but still either way the PS5 is big af though lol
I’ve had mine laying down for over a year now and it’s still good
What do you mean it's still good? Sony made it to purposefully stand both ways so that's a given no?🤦♂️
@@talion7268 it only brings 1 stand that can be used either way laying down or standing up to stand it up u have to use a screw that comes with it
@@christiandiaz754 I'm disappointed in your observation skill brother read again what I wrote :(
@@talion7268 honestly I still don’t understand your reply/comment,can you please simplify it for less intellectuals like myself.
Same me too, I’ve had mine on the side for at least for years, the first year I had it staring upright
Thank you finally someone who understands all my friends are like why is it on that side and I’m just like it’s normal
🤣 get new friends. Please surround yourself with intelligent people. Your IQ might drop with friends like that 🤣
actually better for it to be on its side, it can overheat standing if used for very long periods
They make eay better stands for it on side. The stock one is an accident waiting to happen. It slides off the stand very easily. Could be a problem if it sitting 3 feet off the ground.
I'd prefer to lay mine down. I hate vertical consoles, but at the moment I have no room to do so. I have space in a slot under my tv, but there's no airflow under there.
The liquid metal issue gonna make me do this
Its not true
@@LitVrosit definitely is true you dummy. Mine having this exact issue after only owning for 1.5 yrs.. Standing vertically kills these things eventually.
Not true. Engineers know more than youtubers
@@fastcarfootball8710not true dummy or else they wouldn't advertise in commercials with it standing vertically 😂
Plus some people are finding out that standing the PS5 up is a bad thing right now. When it gets to hot the cooling gel that's on the CPU ends up dripping all over your board.
It was so bad at one point all I could play was P4 games 😂 anytime I tried loading up a P5 game, it overheated immediately. I’d say I had at least 15 mins minimum, some times, to play the game before it heated up.
Dude that’s just misinformation that was caused because the seal around it was broken as someone had opened it not knowing what they were doing
@Yup Yup nah its true my friend going this right now his p5 overheats I just mine a month ago and wanna avoid this at all cost lol 😂
@@Dakingalbert2shut up and stop spreading nonsense, myself and many others have the ps5 vertically positioned since we bought and we re doing just fine, tell your friend to get his ps5 to warranty because getting super hot is not normal
Do people know how to type “S” in the replies or not😂😂
hahahahaha wow i NEVER had my ps5 vertical
I have my PS5 vertical and have since I got it last July 2021 and I've never had an issue with it. It works 100% perfect for me. Some prefer it on its side and some prefer vertical. I prefer vertical.
@@willf.85 I bought mine December, officially had it January 4th. Been horizontal and no problems I would prefer it horizontal too can’t fall that way
@@NoMoneyAfterTipping I fully respect that. I prefer vertical though like I said. I also do that because I don't want to put it in a place where there's not enough breathing room for it. So for me vertical works. But I'm happy horizontal works for you. At least the PS5 can be either direction where the Series X looks weird if you lay it down on the side. Lol
@@willf.85 I love the series look, but i NEVER noticed til now, i prefer to see it standing lmao looks like A rat trap
@@NoMoneyAfterTipping a rat trap? MAHAHAH. That's a pretty big burn lol. But I'm happy you like both though. You seem like a really cool guy. At least we respect one another and can share opinions without our consoles and the way they sit and be cool with each other. Don't see that too often. 👊😎
They actually say this is better in case of the liquid metal because if the liquid metal melts due to overheat it can leak down to the processor supposley they saw this happen to 50 consoles in 2022
It said in the small owner’s manual you get with the system that this was acceptable. People that rant about this aren’t PS5 owners or never read their manuals.
Nice TV 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you! ❤️
This aged as fine wine as well… even Sony RECOMMENDS lying it on the side these days, because of the liquid metal inside.
Show us where they recommend that.
it’s not their fault. they didnt read the instructions, their dad did.
Obviously you didn't read the instructions cause the average age of gamers is 33-35. So the child is the one who didn't read the instructions here and just decided to bash someone without having knowledge of what is transpiring. Sound Familiar??? Did you even think about your comment before posting? Guess some things you can't get from an instruction manual. Who's gonna know more about it... someone who's been playing for 20-30 years, or someone who's been playing less than ten?🤦🤦I swear people just do this to amuse themselves.
I thought he was gonna say "not only can you lay it horizontally, but it also can turn around and face the wall"
Guys always have your ps5 flat on the ground not standing because a lot of people destroyed their ps5 cuz apparently having it standing upright could make the liquid metal leak into the hardware of the system a lot of people complained so beware
Now place it upside down (horizontally), It's crazy how often you come across someone placing a PS5 on the Wrong side in the background on Now gaming channels.
Bruh!! Smh. But it does look good af laying down
If you put it upright it could cause damage
Nuh uh
@@JackAttack301yes the Liquid Metal used to cool down the cpu can become runny during intensive games running and if vertical can drip down your motherboard and cause damage
The people freaking out somehow missed all promotional material where it shows the console both vertical and horizontal
My ps5 started running hot and would shut off during long plays I switched it to its side an not a issue since.
Been 4 months now
That's because the liquid metal thermal paste tends to have issues if you leave it on vertically too long. The PS5 basically needs to be on its side to run properly.
People aren’t the greatest at reading instructions anymore
It’s better for the ps5 to be on its side because there is this sticky substance in it which can drip overtime if placed vertically
It lasts longer on its side
There is literally a picture of it on its side on the box when you buy it
Its not "on its side"....its in the correct orientation for the way its designed.... horizontal, due to the orientation of the disc drive (if u have one of course).
It comes with clear pieces for a cheap stand guys…
Better to keep your PS5 horizontal anyway friend. Vertical PS5's will begin to overheat after ~3 years due to the liquid metal pooling towards the bottom of the APU which results in oxidation and hot spots towards the top of the APU.
When i get a ps5 i wanna put it on its side, i prefer it that way and sometimes i might accidently pull a wire and might fall so thats also that.
I was literally told the PlayStation five cannot sit up on his side because of complications with overheating this mostly has to do with the first few models they came out I’m happy with my PlayStation five laying on its side I think it would look awkward because it’s bigger than bulky as it is
Laying down so you know what way the disk goes in lol.
