Following immediately after the events of THE RAID, Rama (Iko Uwais) is forced to reinvent himself as an undercover cop in order to provide protection for his wife and child. Working for the anti-corruption taskforce led by the one person he can trust, Bunawar, he is given a mission to engage himself as an enforcer for a local mob boss, Bangun. Finding a way in through Bangun's son Uco, Rama must hunt for information linking Bangun with police force corruption. All the while, he harbors a dangerous and personal vendetta for revenge and justice that threatens to consume him - and bring both this mission and the organized crime syndicates crashing down.

I love how they absolutely refuse to cut away from the action. Take note Western cinematographers and editors, you don't need 5 cuts a second, you can do brutal action far better through long takes with skilled fighters
The reason they don't overly edit the action scenes in the Raid is because Iko Uwais can pull off the choreography well. Western actors don't have the same martial art skills so the editers are forced to edit around their awkwardness. If they held onto takes the action would be even worse to look at.
@@jainee4507 its because they are lazy i mean usually in western movies we get brawls and boxing fights way easier that eastern action movies and they still dont compare in quality

Saw these the minute they released in the UK. Two of my all time top ten movies.
Maybe because most film in hollywood didnt show a genuine fight scene like this. They used complex camera tricks to make the battle looked intense while the raid relied mainly on the correography (thanks to mr yayan ruhian and the team)

I like how they all fight instead of acting wierd and waiting for them to be attacked. Damn this movie is dope
Thats why this movie is more impactable then other dramatic movies
The use of mud, either intentionally or unintentionally, as a “background” is genius. Every hit has a cathartic “thud” to it, but the brief flashes of red on an otherwise beige background let the audience know when a more important/fatal blow has been delivered. It makes what would be an overall coherent yet chaotic fight clearer and more understandable
it was intentional. Gareth stated that he wanted a prison riot scene like a gladiator fight. the AD found this fortress in Gombong and boy did he deliver…
Not to mention that despite everyone being covered in mud, it is still easy to tell who is who and doing what to who.

Japan : Swords, Live Action Rurouni Kenshin

This prison riot fight was epic. I truly did love how Rama saved Uco
Not too long ago, I watched a scene from Batman: The Dark Knight Rises where Batman was trying to make a cool comeback to Bane right in the middle of a riot. It was so awkward as you can see tons of people doing fake punches, and even more awkward when you realize that both Bane and Batman are completely safe from everyone even though they are in the middle of a riot. So watching this scene is giving me a whiplash. It's just so raw, so brutal. No body was safe. Everyone there get at least a real looking punch. And even though it's chaos everywhere, we still can see the fights clearly
Yeah, I confused watching the riot scene at dark Knight rises. How can the quality drop so much after the masterpiece prequel.

How the hell they took such a long shot is beyond me
It actually has several cuts, usually masked by someone moving in front of the camera really fast. In the commentary track, the director actually points all the cuts out.
The cinematography, editing are just perfect...and see even with shaky cam thwy used long shots to show us the full action....other than those bullshit shaky cam quick edits
With long shots like these I always wonder how many takes they needed. Imagine it's your fault that everything has to start again and they all need to shower because of one mistake.

I think they're both really good in their own respective rights. The Extraction 2's fight scenes actually really reminded me of The Raid. At least they're both better than marvel :D

Too risky. Besides, the guards is already covered in mud just like the prisoners. Plus, most of the guards already lost their helmet in that brawl so u can't tell the difference between inmates or guards

It is how Prisons and in general, enforcement are set up. To ensure that manpower are not tired out, only a few are on duty while the rest will be on standby as quick response force.
The mistake made by the officers here was to go in without the aid of the response force.
@@Saicofake It would be much safer for the guards to just fire tear gas from the watchtower or perhaps arm the snipers with tranquilizer darts if they do not wish to use lethal force. That way, the guards will not be hurt needlessly while trying to break up the fight.
