This was when Metallica really captured there live sound justice tour was great too but in terms of sound quality the black album tour had the best Nowadays Metallica still has there live sound but they use ax effect which is good, but there is something about hearing raw Amps that makes me like it more

Damn, roughly six months after the album's release, the live versions of the Black Album songs sound way better than the Bob Rock glossed up studio versions. The ironic thing Rock told the band is he thought they hadn't yet captured their live intensity on a studio record. Any thoughts?

They had their live intensity on their past albums before black just look at songs like disposable heroes, damage inc, and dyers eve. If anything they lost it when it came to black imo. Nonetheless I still think the black album is great it may not be thrash but it's still metal.
