"Keep it going Mexico city!!" God damn I miss Jason. While Rob is technically a much better player, Jason's stage presence and appreciation of fans CANNOT be matched. Not to mention his incredible backing vocals!
I did in 1993 Mexico City and in 1998 in Houston Texas. I was at this concert. It was their best time of their carreer they were at the peak of greatness. After this concert they started going downhill. This tour was their best time in the life of METALLICA.
Aw man, I miss Jason, he was so intense on the mic. This is one of the heaviest song they ever wrote. The tone of the guitars and drums aw man. They use Axe FX units these days and the guitars just don't sound as brutal
It's my favorite album of theirs as well. The songs, although complex, are very cohesive and meaningful. I even like the mixing, especially the drums. And James' anger is unmatched on AJFA.
So Jason started the haircut trend in Metallica considering he was the first to cut the hair 🤔 he probably got sick of it with all the guff they gave him and bulllying 🤔 although James was very nice to Jason giving him the freedom to play whatever he wanted.
you know what you're saying, the way the music stops just for James do what he did was fucking cool, and you probably has to acknowledge jasons stage presence
Jason was great, and Rob will never fill his shoes, but let's be honest, given how old they are today, they still deliver great live performances. Go to Metallica's youtube channel and check out their Ride the Lightning live performance. Top notch. Almost 30 years after the Black Album tour, important to remember.
It's incredible that this was 30 years ago as of now, how time flies! Metallica will always be the greatest heavy metal band bar none! Sometimes, you don't know how good you have it til its gone, we were so spoiled with James with his leadership & killer voice, Kirk was killing, Lars was on top of his game, & of course Jason!! Cliff was the building block & foundation of Metallica, Robert is so technically gifted, but Jason Newstead came into the band at the most vital time, & restored the heartbeat of it! It's been 22 years since he left, & I still miss you Jason, you gave us this beautiful music, we will be forever grateful
His cleans sounded really good here 😂 especially when doing the verses because if you look back on Moscow 91 he used a lot of distortion in his voice but here James seemed more relax going with the clean vocals and not straining himself
His cleans are so perfect here he’s not even singing the verses with distortion he’s going alll clean with it and it sounds amazing 😂 there’s a Metallica tribute band called “ scream inc. “ and it reminds me of the way how James is singing in this video
Whoever EQ'ed this concert should have been given a job for life. You think in 2020 with equipment so much more advanced that it would blow this out of the water, but that's not the case. For Christ's sake, listen to Lars' snare! Shit is like a gunshot! F*****' metal.
Drop it already this whole Cliff vs Jason vs Robert. Jason had to leave because James had his own issues to work on, but he filled the gap after Cliff's death. If anyone denies this, man they truly must check Metallica's live performances during And Justice For All and The Black Album. It's not just Seattle '89; Moscow '91, Doninington '91 and the list goes on. Robert loses to Jason on the energy during the live shows, nevertheless he's talented and whether people believe he isn't as heavy as Jason; well St. Anger album is the living proof.
Even comparing that concert to San Diego '92 his voice wasn't the same. It wasn't a one and done thing, it progressed so far then it just couldn't take anymore

Seattle '89 creeping death that guttural insanity sounds better than 99% of the shit released today.
Roberto Trujillo sucks, Jason Is a better bass player.
You people have to stop nagging about it. Rob is great and has proved himself in Metallica. Open your eyes!
100% agree.
I'm not even sure about the account of Robert being better than Jason techniquewise.
0:53 The devil himself
0:53 fucking goose bumps man!

Jason kicks so much ass!!! I wish I was old enough to have seen him play with Metallica.
Holli Carson i did 5 times and it was insane

I watched this line-up once@Load Tour 1996@Manchester UK...the best concert i've watched live, to others-Sepultura, Machine Head etc.
This is a much higher quality recording, than any other youtuvideobi can find. So far...
Aw man, I miss Jason, he was so intense on the mic. This is one of the heaviest song they ever wrote. The tone of the guitars and drums aw man. They use Axe FX units these days and the guitars just don't sound as brutal
Man i loved this formation, Jesus on the drums, Satan on bass, Lemmy Kilmister on vocal and Santana on lead guitar. What old good times.
5:25.... For all the haters!!
Yes Sir !!! Fuck 'em all !!!!!!
I know a lot of people will disagree ... to me " ... and justice for all" is their best album .. for the melodic and long riffs
It's my favorite album of theirs as well. The songs, although complex, are very cohesive and meaningful. I even like the mixing, especially the drums. And James' anger is unmatched on AJFA.
Definitiv
I agree. Awesome album. It would have been better if Jason's bass was mixed properly.
So Jason started the haircut trend in Metallica considering he was the first to cut the hair 🤔 he probably got sick of it with all the guff they gave him and bulllying 🤔 although James was very nice to Jason giving him the freedom to play whatever he wanted.
Jason is much better than Robert by far this fucking video proves that!!
Speak it, David!
this is their heaviest song ever
Sad But True!!
sad but true is also heavy as hell, but this song owns :)
Damn right!! That riff that comes in right before James sings has got to be the most groovy riff ever \m/ so hard not to head bang to that riff lol
unfortunately i broke my keyboard at that part :(
+mrXXXXbullzeyeXXXX Ehhh creeping death is :#
Definitely the heaviest version of this song ever. Goddamn, you just can't get any better than that. Fucking B R U T A L

I love Rob Trujillo but JASON can’t ever be replaced!!!!!!!!! They shouldn’t have ever let him go!!!
He left, he didnt get fired. It still sucks though. Jason was awesome :/
@@jarksy_63 yes I know , I’m saying they should have never let him go. Like they should have found a way to get him to stay.
oh yeah, they should have kept him. i totally agree. Jason was crazy!
@@jarksy_63 the absolute best! I love watching the videos with Jason the most.

Hell yeah
That is telepathic levels of tightness. He’s not looking at Lars so has no idea when he’s gonna smack that snare to bring it back in.
best live ever of harvester of sorrow !
This is True, Kylmä
No it isn't when they played Russia was the harvester live version!!!!
Fucking best! Got jason and everyone sober!
Rob is a good bassist, but not a good fit for Metallica, his back up vocals are horrible, and his look doesn’t fit

What about 4:04
Best parts. This and 5:25
great vocal by Jason as always
the way James' voice rings out is fucking amazing
4:08 AMAZING KIRK
WAHKİRK
Jason’s backing vocals are epic! Rob is good but he’s not Jason. When Jason departed Metallica lost 25% and have never got it back.
They lost 80% and have since lost the remaining 20%. Modern Metallica sucks.
Jason was great, and Rob will never fill his shoes, but let's be honest, given how old they are today, they still deliver great live performances. Go to Metallica's youtube channel and check out their Ride the Lightning live performance. Top notch. Almost 30 years after the Black Album tour, important to remember.

Sad but true
At 0:53 you feel like there's an ANGRY DRAGON on the stage !
You can tell that tour really pushed his vocals to the limits, still it sounded great in 93
His cleans sounded really good here 😂 especially when doing the verses because if you look back on Moscow 91 he used a lot of distortion in his voice but here James seemed more relax going with the clean vocals and not straining himself

2019 THE Lion roars again! yyyeeeaaa long live JAMES HETFIELD! 😆

Fucking brutal!!! Lars was, is and always will be one of the best drummers of all time.
that's debatable! Plenty of drummers out there that blow him out of the water!
multiestonian He's good in Metallica, but he's a pretty bad drummer.
I absolutly agree with you!
Better than bill ward? John bonham? That's laughable 🤣
Absolutely laughable
What is the riff kirk starts playing at the end? Is it from a song? Or is he just doodling?

The will be no bands like them. The era is gone
One of the best versions I've heard of Harvester, if not the best
Imo it's THE best performance of Harvester. James's growls in the intro and the rest of the song is just as clean as it gets
0:54 and 1:14 are what make this performance so heavy. It adds such a thump to the song
Metallica in best years so powerfull
Definitely one of Metallica's gems in their catalog that's for sure!!
These guys had the greatest stage presence on this tour
Even taday… in , 20fkn21, I still hear Jason when listening to MetallicA…
