Ironically, more than half of the kiddos here who are always speaking about how they are strong, faithful fans and how they love the band and so on, have no freaking idea who that big guy, John Marshall is and the history behind him. Then, immediately, everyone is Googling so they can condemn me and curse me in the comments hahahaha and say, we all know who he is bla, bla, bla... hahahaha

This was about 4 months after James suffered 3rd degree burns from a pyro accident when Metallica was on tour when Guns n Roses in the summer of 1992. James couldn't play guitar while recovering from the burns. John Marshall did a great job. I saw Metallica twice in 1992. I can't believe it's been 32 years !!

😍🙏👍🌟♥ Is this for real? My God I can't believe I am finally seeing this. This is 32 years in the making. Thank you so much and God bless you a million times for posting this great and precious concert video. My friends and I were there. This was at the Pasadena Rose Bowl on October 3, 1992, coheadlining with Guns N' Roses with Body Count and Motorhead opening the show. This tour I truly believe was and is still the epicenter of late 80's/early 90's hard rock live music for so many reasons. The rock/metal community was delirious when this tour was announced. Montreal is evidence of that as the riot showed just how bad people wanted that tour only for Axl to pull out because of technical issues with the monitors.
We showed up late to the Rose Bowl and I can still remember being annoyed with our driver. Our driver promised we would leave earlier as Los Angeles traffic is war in itself. It took us an eternity and a half getting from our car through the lines, security, and being lost once in the stadium to finally get to our seats. Motorhead started only minutes after sitting down. I can still remember getting out of the car in the parking lot and hearing Body Count playing their last songs suspecting that we were not going to be able to see any of Body County. Then our driver demanded we leave after GNR started "Paradise City" to beat the traffic to get out of the parking lot for us only to get to the car as GNR is kicking a** in the background to be stuck in the car/parking lot because of traffic for the next full half hour trying to leave. That was it, I never went with him to a concert again, ever. This concert was the concert of all concerts and we are being plagued by Murphy's Law.
What I would do to be able to personally tell Metallica, Body Count, Motorhead, and Axl "Please from the bottom of our hearts, release the entire pro shot concert video of this show or at least from other UYI tour shows we haven't seen." 🏁🏁🏁

Yeah, it was the night they played in Montreal with Guns N Roses, I think. Pretty sure a riot broke out that night, because Axl couldn’t hear himself.

This will sound weird, but seeing James just focusing on his vocals and not doing both vocals and guitar was interesting. In an alternate world, lets say James just focused on singing and not singing / guitar playing... Watching this makes me feel he could deliver more with his vocals without having the guitar on him.

Jamesie boy must've felt weird not having the explorer guitar in His hands, man! 😅
He still pulled off a great job though! 😉👍🤘

Seeing James without his guitar is like seeing Batman without his utility belt! Still cool but still not quite right haha. This was Marshall's second go with this. John filled in for James also in 1986 when he broke his wrist! James is clearly weirded out too not knowing what to do with his hands or how to act. Haha
