this was an absolute blast guys! thanks a ton for having me out! you've done an amazing job building that test track! oh and the end was hilarious!
That's a great truck you have! It sounds amazing, and it was really impressive watching you drive. I noticed the first time you got stuck, you didn't spin tires, when you lost momentum and it got sketchy, you had the good sense to call it and pull cable. That's a great lesson, I hope a lot of other people pick up on that.
@@trailrunnah8886 body damage is extremely expensive to fix. Sometimes the skinny pedal is not your friend.
@@JustinKingOffroad absolutely!
I always wondered about the cable strength when using pulleys. Even the one you had would technically be sketchy when using pulleys under full load right?
You talked about some issues with your RAM...I think this hilites a belief i have of NEVER buying an all new version of anything. I learned my lesson in 1988 when GMC redesigned their K series trucks. Now it is the Tundra. I am a Toyota guy but even Toyota has had some teething issues with the new Tundra. I contrast that with my 20 TUNDRA TRD OR and have had only 2 minor issues...a bad battery and a cracked windshield. The Tundra being in production for well over a decade was nearly problem free. I found it interesting about the rotary dial gear selector and you feeling it is stupid...again look at the New Tundra...NO TOW HOOKS...LIKE WTF. I would take a dial gear selector if it meant having tow hooks 🪝. BTW...your power wagon is no slouch.
In Nathan’s words, “Power Wagon don’t care!” This video proved it! Well done 👍🏾
Well, the Power Wagons SOMETIMES cares...he said that also.
-- BR
Assuming a capable driver.
Kinda forgot about how capable the power wagon is with all of the press being about raptor/tremor/trx/rebel/zr2/traiboss the last 2 yrs
They've been the most capable since WW2
That truck is not wimpy by any stretch
And considering the price in comparison, it’s a great truck
Power wagon don't care
@@arielmillanao2441 that was actually in my head the whole time I was watching 😆
Justin is my kind of driver, going as slow as possible and not ramming it trough the obstacles, and taking care of his ride.
vehicles are too expensive to fix with lead foot syndrome all the time haha
Till it gets stuck
I agree. Respect for machinery is important.
Kase as the straight man and Tommy as the comic relief is vastly underrated on this channel. More of these 2 together please...
This was great! Justin is a really good example of exactly how to drive. I was impressed when he got stuck the first time, he didn't floor it and spin tires, he just realized it was time to pull cable. That's a great way of preserving both the vehicle and the trail.
The value of experience. It really means he's been down that path before.
As a power wagon owner I can say just about everything he says is true. The power wagon does everything very well except fuel economy. When you hammer on It off road they just go to work. Best sound ever.
AMEN!!
One thing I left out..don’t open the doors while in gear or it will go into park automatically… and doesn’t wanna come out. Makes you look like an idiot if people are behind you.
I completely agree. I have got as high as 18mpg on multiple tanks with mine. I also noticed zero change in fuel Mileage going to 37" KO2s. The factory Wranglers are terrible for mileage. I swapped to 37" Kanati Trail Hogs which are exactly the same tread pattern as the factory Wranglers and I lost about 15%.
@@Weatherby406 the tazer ram module will defeat autopark. I do have that on here.
my 22 Rebel doesn't do any better on fuel economy...
In an effort to help the viewers understand how steep some of the obstacles are, maybe consider setting up some brightly colored poles / markers / things which are perfectly vertical. Then, by including those in some of the shots, it would get easier to see just how steep things are
Dodge really knocked it out of the park with the design on this ram. I think it's the best looking pickup from an exterior perspective. Maybe I'm crazy
Tumbleweed made the Power Wagon care a little bit. Great video guys.
The Power Wagon just thought the mud pits weren't deep enough, that's all.
hahaha, yes it cared just a tiny bit!
He could have gotten his self out of the first obstacle without the winch if he would have rocked her for a bit
Nathan must have been jealous that Tommy got to spend time in the Power Wagon 😉
Yep
Jealous doesn’t touch it, bitter does!!!
I saw the truck, and before I saw Justin King, my first thought was 'That looks like Justin King's truck'. And then there he was. Awesome!!!!
I have been driving a 2015 Kia Optima getting 24-28 mpg, I have been researching the F Lineup, Bronco, Denali, Silverado, and the Jeeps. I have literally researched everything and have decided if I am going to give up my gas mileage, I am definitely going with the Power Wagon. The only ONLY downside is that I am a contracted delivery driver and at 11-13 city mpg (holy cow)... oh, well. Guess I better get a side gig pulling cars out of ditches during the winter months.
Relatively speaking, the mileage of this truck is actually pretty good. A Tacoma on 35s is getting in the 13 to 15 MPG range, and when I was a kid I had a regular cab short bed Chevy squarebody with a 350 that only managed to get 8mpg. Considering the size, power, and capability of this truck, 13-15 is actually quite good.
That’s a really good point.
I'm a little jealous of the mileage. I have an 03 dodge 2500 two wheel drive. I'm lucky to get 12mpg on the highway, with a 5 speed and a 5.7 hemi. Unless I run the AC. Lol
I get exactly the same average mileage in my 16 Power Wagon on 37" KO2s that I used to get in my bone stock 04 Tundra on all season tires.
@@wirebrush that's crazy, haha. Toyota trucks are good at a lot of things, but fuel economy is not one of them. It is pretty impressive how far Dodge has come in that regard, my dad had a 98 Ram half ton 4wd with a 318 that barely got 12 on stock tires.
My colorado zr2 averages 13mpg on 33” a/t tires
Finally a great power wagon video, that wasn’t all talk, or through the front window, where all you see is dash.
Thank you so much!!! 👍👍👍
Great video guys Justin sure knows the capabilities of his Power Wagon and was awesome to see him put the winch to work, and TFL now has a Seafaring family member Seaman 1st class Tommi Mica 😎
I agree 👍👍👍. Well done.
Love how Tommy took the responsibility to go get the cushions at the end, my son wouldn't have batted an eye and just left them.
So glad I stayed till the end! 🤣😂😆
Tommy: You don't have to film this part.
Case's inner monologue: Oh, yes I do.
Iv owned 8 different new trucks in the last 10 years..Trust me there is no better feeling than holding a power wagon to the floorboard.. they just get shit done! We buried mine to the grill in a blizzard and had to shovel to get it moving again.. but when we sent it everyone was like we aren’t gonna make it and it just tore it up pushing snow over the hood in the mountains!
lol - "We're sliding closer to the tree." - "That's not ideal is it?"
Dude that was absolutely insane!! When that power wagon stayed in first and red lined that beautiful hemi to the max outta that hole! Heck yes
As a 6.4L owner, there is no better sound 😍
TFL should hire this guy to train there cameras guys how to truly off road Trucks.
Good job guy.
19 wagon owner here... No issues at all 90k miles now.. Offroadung is impressive buried it good once.. Took 2 winches and 4 trucks to get me out lol
Power Wagon's are just so sweet. Taht looked like a fun time.
Crazy considering that truck had street tires.
Well, not exactly.
Wildpeaks are some of the best A/T tires out there but yeah mud terrains would be much better in that stuff.
I think this is my favourite TFL video ever. Especially the end bit. LAND HOY!
That Power Wagon was an animal through the course! Totally awesome!
This guy just kept it cool from the beginning to the end, you know he’s done it a bunch!!
It don’t care! More Power Wagon content please 🔥🙌
I’ve watched a ton of power wagon videos and I’ve never heard a power wagon rev like that, sounds absolutely amazing. Makes me jealous.
That's one nice looking, and very capable truck. Great video guys!
That’s an awesome truck, and Justin has fantastic confidence and control, great to watch!
This was a great episode. That power wagon was awesome and Justin shows he can drive.
I have a 2022 PowerWagon 75th anniversary and he's right about gremlins. I've had absolutely zero issues whatsoever.
Let me try crawling through mud oh no I’m stuck. FLOOR IT ITS A HEMI
I believe a couple years ago TFL had established that "Power Wagon doesn't care!"
HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVERYONE
Tumbleweed has been a gold mine of content for you guys. I was unsure at first but all the videos from it have been good to great so far.
Sounds so good!
A good mud tire is hard to underestimate …..those tires wouldnt be the best for this kinda thing
The last 5 minutes of this video were gold.
As a powerwagon owner myself, I was skeptical seeing the tires that are shod on this guy. Well done.
Yeah I run toyo rts.. Would perform better off road
Awesome color on that Ram!
Tommy and Case have such great chemistry on cam!
I always learn so much watching Justin, a wealth of knowledge
Power wagon vs ZR2 would be an amazing video
That was my first thought, this would have been the perfect opportunity to run that zr2 against the power wagon.
Awesome video - thanks for getting a PW on the course! Thanks to Justin and Tommy!
With those not very off-road tires and being a large and heavyweight truck, that thing did fairly well.
thats y hes got a winch - those tires are basically street tires in the mud lol
They are some of the better all terrains out there and not everyone wants a mud terrain especially in colorado.
Land Rover have street tires and still do well enuff
@@handyvan3422winch comes stock
Power wagon is still the king of offroad.
PW are the best heavy duty off road trucks, still the kings since 1940’s
What a fantastic truck. Well done Ram
Love the taming tumbleweed series. The powewagon is awesome. Also, haven't laughed so hard in a while... The ending with Tommy out on the Huck Finn raft 🤣
I love power wagons, this is an awesome vid
PW is a Beast 👌😁
14:20 - pulling back to yourself does not increase the tension in the line. You just have twice as much line with the same tension so twice the force (with a pulley at the tree)
It's a crime that Stellantis won't put 35-37" tires on this from the factory. No one buys this for towing.
They should make a ram Power Wagon X that has more off-road oriented features with the power wagon advantages
Epa.
@@Welcometofacsistube ford does it on the HD Tremor, Raptor,Raptor R and Bronco Raptor.
The disconnecting sway bar maybe why
@@ggqbc The ford broncos, and jeep wranglers have it and some of those have modded 37s with no issue.
this was a great episode. loved watching justin and the power wagon go through the course. it is certainly a beast. i almost got one recently but couldnt justify the purchase so i got a ram echo diesel instead. keep it up guys, run those trucks through the paces....
it's the lockers!!! all lockers!!!!
That truck really earns the name “Power Wagon”! Great video - thanks.
Thanks for the channel recommendation team.
Great video Tommy. Always fun to watch you and any bloopers.
The weekend release is great ! Love the content !
Really enjoyed this video. Justin was a blast and great Jaws reference from Case.
ah man the sound that engine makes is glorious!
Wow, that truck did great! Glad you put the pond adventure in.
One of the best episodes ever, thank you men.
The ending with Tommy and Kase, very funny. We need more of these too.
Next on Taming Tumbleweed. David tethers couches and Tommy tests out his new chest waders.
Great video guys! That Power Wagon is a beast!!
The Jaws reference was gold.
Truck Ahoy! That power wagon sounded very cool. Great driving. Your Masterful driving made it look much easier than it really is.
So far the ZR2 did best and is the leader for now. Completed all obstacles.
Oh come on guys, you know we are all waiting for the raptor on that mean trail
Great to see the Power Wagon living up to its name. However, the final pond scene stole the show and had me cracking up. You guys may need to put a comedic out take episode up some day.
What a fun video. Power Wagons are very underrated but totally badass.
I recently sold my 2021 Ram 3500 regular cab with the 6.4. Absolutely loved it. Didn't love the fuel economy - couldn't stomach it.
Well it is a 3/4 8000 pounds of tank muscled by a 392 HEMI. Imagine the Cummins with that model🤔
Great video, the Power Wagon is such a beast!! Hey TFL y’all should consider getting a long term Power Wagon one day , it would be awesome.
Great video showcasing the capabilities of the PW!
Thanks to Justin and the TFL team for the great video! I really like my 2022 PW, but when it comes to engine noise, quieter is better. I like my neighbors, I don't want to wake them up every morning when I leave for work.
What you do is have beater truck for work
I got an E cut out so I can close it an make it stock or loud at anytime.
@@LotsOfPaypa My PW is my beater truck. I use it for recoveries at work. If I want it louder, I guess I could just turn my hearing aids up. LOL!
@@marvinheadrick3511 Still don't understand why you would ever want it to be loud.
@@SPACEMIKEB millions agree V8s sound awesome, that’s why. And like I said, flip a switch and it’s stock.
Great video of the Power Wagon and Justin's skills. I want to take my PW out and do PW appropriate trails. Love my Power Wagon !!
The 6.7L Cummins would be too heavy in this truck, but something like the old Cummins 5.0L V8 in the Titan would be nice for fuel economy.
Unfortunately the 5.0 Cummins V-8 isn’t good. I have a friend that’s a Nissan mechanic who said he has seen several of those engines lock up with less than 10,000 miles on them.
@@J.Young808 Such a shame, that was like the US' only 'mid size' diesel engine
No it wouldn’t…
I drive a 2020 Ram 1500, and yes, you have to take your eyes off the road to see which dial you are turning!! Not like an old truck that had buttons, dials, levers, and a proper gear shifter so you knew what you were doing without taking your eyes off the road!!
I went from a wrangler JK rubicon to the power wagon similar equipped I had to purchase a winch for the jeep should come OEM! I live in North west SC and the clay is very slippery when wet had to recover a few times glad I had anchoring options made it easy. I needed the extra pulling and storage that my Jeep could not, I still have the jeep and you can’t beet the agility it has on the switch back trails!!! Thanks for the video
This guy was so chill
Really wish Ram would offer the Power Wagon with Regular cab, short box again!!!
That’s why I’m torn on getting one. I want a capable truck but how half tons cost as much as this truck for comparable features when that’s the size I want makes me want a power wagon. But then factor in that damn forced bed size and I don’t want the power wagon.
Just going to say the Silverado ZR2 did all this with zero drama
ZR2 would be fine on that course in the mud, but put it on the rocks somewhere like Moab and that 1/2 ton drivetrain will not survive and the Power Wagon would be towing out.
Oh snap, that’s Justin King!
You guys need to find some 8ft row boat to restore and put out there. Next time on tumbleweed ranch!!
That was awesome off roading to see, seeing the mud is more tuff and fun too.
These city slickers crack me up. He said the hemi "sounds gorgeous" Uhhmm???? lol 🤣🤣
Perfect review. Driver really knows what to do and how to do😎👍
Love this!! Nothing beats a sound of a v8!
Ordered my PW Yesterday. Can hardly wait.
The truck and owner are a good match I reckon there aren't many places they can't reach. Lovely colour and that sound who nerds a radio
What a beast and the owner is a genius... the difference with F/R lockers is insane.
The ending was great and you gotta get a 250 tremor out there
@@shitloveaduck oh I agree the power wagon is amazing I just like the tremor too and curious of how it would do
Both absolutely awesome trucks and have their own strengths.
@@shitloveaduck I’m a ford guy too but a drive a tundra 🤣 but always loved the fords
@@shitloveaduck The F250 Tremor has a limited slip in the front that locks up in 4x4 when needed
would love to see a F250 out there
That Power wagon was impressive! Great video
Everyone just kept saying that’s “AWESOME” and I totally agree ‘
I love that y'all are opening up this land for others!
It's been a while since I heard about my dream truck! Dope!
