9,000 jobs at risk? Nope. Canada's public works still has to get done. The work is there...for another company that is not corrupt. That other company then hires workers to meet the job.
Ivaz Dranoel well there would be 9,000 government jobs open for honest incorrupt citizens .Trudeau didn't care about the jobs he cared about himself, the votes and the bribery $$ period. Otherwise hed be kicking their asses out and making sure their honest hardworking employees were employed.
@Ivaz Dranoel First, there wouldn't be 9000 jobs lost, that's the entirety of the SNC Lavalin work force and that company isn't going bankrupt over this prosecution. Second, even if it were the full 9000, it wouldnt' be just one company having to hire the full 9000 to get the next contract done. There may be 100 contracts filled by 20 or 30 companies each having to hire maybe 10 to 100 people, and then hire again to suit the next contract. So, yes, in the worst case, untenable as it is, and 9000 jobs are lost, I would suspect that 80% of those jobs would be absorbed by other companies over a period of what, 5 years maybe? The reality is that Lavalin would lose maybe 1000 jobs IF Trudeau honors the 10 year ban and that's doubtful as hell. In actuality, jobs would likely be created by Lavalin being banned, still operating in all other contracts (banned only from federal projects) and other companies having to hire to pick up the slack.

Here's an interesting dichotomy. Butts has spoken about the discussion, with Trudeau, about JWR being moved from the AG position to indigenous affairs (which according to Butts she refused) and then demoted to Veterans affairs. So, Butts can speak about the "after "times regarding January 7 until JWR's resignation on about February 7, BUT, JWR still cannot? And the so called "Justice Committee " has blocked a motion to deny JWR from recall to speak to this time period? Yet has been legitimately raised by Butts? Does anyone smell a cover up here? Or worse, a smear campaign emerging?

Where did the 9,000 job figure come from? It certainly wasn't SNC Lavalin. Also, if that company goes under, the employees get work elsewhere. That's how it goes around the world on a daily basis.

LGBTQ has the same rights as everyone else, the liberal election changed nothing excep tthey and other special interest groups were brought to the forefornt, Why? serving special interest groups creats division, its the old soros globalist ploy, create division and chaos and then profit from it
@star moon Are you smoking some of that Truedope?
Trudeau is one of the first Canadian PM that Americans actually know who he is. That's saying something.
I'll question the integrity of the Prime minister, a literal embarrassment to our Country!
This quarrelling must stop immediately. I have no political savvy but to me, it seems like she got screwed out of a ministry that she was part of since 2015. Strange
When did the CBC ever tell the country real journalism? This is a start!
I’ll cut the guy some slack, only because it must have been hell going through middle school with the name Butts, and that face. Kids can be cruel. But seriously, this is the best story he can come up with? I’d have more respect for him, if he just said, “oops ...”.
In the name of Jesus Christ may the truth and justice be served in this matter with Justin Trudeau and SNC Lavalin
Truth-teller wins!!
Why weren't you testifying under oath Gerry? Do you have something to hide? Why did you step down if you did nothing wrong?
No credibility at all for Butts, insincere but clever words. This is the patriarchy that feminists talk about. Feel sorry for Jody Wilson- Raybaud as these hounds fell upon her viciously.
Why would you resign if you did nothing wrong😕?!
Butt: "New evidence"
I ask: "What new evidence?" please tell…..
OMG he hung himself "...On an issue that could cost 9,000 jobs."
No one has the right to expect the law to turn a blind eye to illegal and corrupt activity by an employer.
Jody is telling the truth and was fired for staying while telling her truth, Butt's quit that tells a lot right there.
Whoa, theses guys are so good! They waited until Jody spoke and then went line by line on twisting everything she said. Butts not under oath, no consequences for his lies.
Jody such unteam worker, she just was upset because was removed. She played the integrity card. The only Justin wrong is hiring hire at the first place.
Butts wasn't under oath, What does that tell you??? Butts Version = ZERO CREDIBILITY
Butts was Trudeau's "fixer." Honesty is not as requirement for that job.Getting things done for Trudeau is.Arm twisting is part of the job.I wouldn't buy a used car from Butts.
"I am not a lawyer...I don't know the law..." well then why are you testifying you did things legally?
If there was no pressure on her then why removed her as Attorney General ? 9000 jobs may be important but the rule.of law is above the threat from a company removing 9000 jobs when this company has broken the law
Ontario MP Leona Alleslev first women to leave Trudeau and the libs
It all comes down to this: Does SNC Lavalin have the right to engage in criminal activity with impunity simply because they employ a lot of Canadians?
“Trudeau groped me” -Female Reporter
“I respect the fact that someone else might have experienced that differently.” -Justin Trudeau
“I was pressured” -Jody Wilson-Raybould
'Two people can experience the same event differently' -Gerald Butts
The woman who brought down the prime minister.
Butts is a slimeball..SNC will wriggle off of the hook..nice guys finish last.
He was CLEARLY reading something written for him. Then added 'to be honest'. Hmmm. THAT'S not suspicious.
I just don’t understand why she wants to crush an entire company such as SNC rather than prosecuting the guilty individuals only who were involved and not affecting 9k jobs!
Where did the 9,000 job figure come from? It certainly wasn't SNC Lavalin. Also, if that company goes under, the employees get work elsewhere. That's how it goes around the world on a daily basis.
PM’s intention is good and he just doesn’t want thousands of people to lose jobs. His staff didn’t proceed appropriately.
Butts hiding behind jobs like a coward would use a child as a human shield during a stick-up.
Justine could probably have got away with this had he not moved her to Veteran Affairs. The demotion says it all.
Have the 9000 people whose jobs are in play spoken on this?
Don't tell us what you believe Gerry, tell us what you KNOW!
I've got a lot of gripes with CBC--however I'm proud of how they're proceeding with this matter..
Well done CBC--get this right and you'll be a hero of western democracy--stay with the facts, analyses yes-- stay way from the Op- Eds. or few--at most.
Actually--just do the opposite of what we see in the USA.. and you'll do fine..
jr. readit
Yeah i’m extremely surprised they aren’t covering for JT. It has really made me realize that our news isn’t as bad as the American mainstream news outlets.
That said, I feel the the reason none of the media outlets are covering for JT is because he’s just been straight up caught with his hand in the cookie jar and there’s nothing they really CAN do to cover for him.
In situations like this where someone is caught red handed doing something the media can’t put their own coverup spin on it or the risk losing their credibility with all Canadians.
When the liberal media is not on JT’s side you know he’s done something wrong
Jody Wilson-Raybould, after we vote Trudeau's government OUT please come back
Getting rid of all three, Trudeau, W-R, and Philpott is ideal. After all they were all involved in the "Euthenasia" bill.
If he were right, why should he resign. He tried to save his so called friend. Hard luck
It’s amazing how they can recollect so much detail from conversations held months ago.... makes me wonder if there could possibly be recordings somewhere?
Who was under oath?
So Jody Wilson-Raybould as AG decides to go after an engineering company SNC that does business in Libya....where the whole system is based on Graf. Can't go wrong there, big career booster! Take down a big company Looks good on resume. Personal Ambition at the expense of hundreds, even thousands of employees of those companies. Good start as every Canadian company doing business just about anywhere in the world has had to pay bribes to get work done, whether mining, engineering etc. That is just the way it is in the Middle East, South America, even the US. So she just announces this and waits for objections to come in from her boss. Obviously Jody is not suitable to this portfolio so is then shuffled to another position. Career buster! Time to pull out the poor me card. Shame on you Jody Wilson-Raybould.
No gag order on Butts, and Butts didn't have to relinquish the paperwork he walked out of the office with.
BASIC MATH......What does Jody Raybould have to gain by coming out with this ? so why would she make this up ?
CorruptTraitorButts is obvious.
Lies lies and more lies.
Looks like Trudeau got to Butts, and why did Butts Resign????
