    Best audio I've heard. I definitely heard the same humming in your video as if it was in my vehicle that settles it it's definitely a bad hub bearing now I just have to find the right one there is a little play in the Shakedown test on the driver side however there was a boot horn on the CV axle passenger side I just had replaced which makes me think it's on the right side but the Shakedown test passes on the passenger side as for the rotation test they both sound the same

    Thanks for making this video.We have a 2013 Impala LTZ. For months the car had a vibration especially at 70 MPH. We took the car to the best car repair center in the city. comes to find out, there was a bad wheel bearing on the drivers front. I had both front wheel bearings replaced. Car aligned. Two new front tires. Car is back to normal.

    I have side to side play, but no up and down play.
    When another person is moving to lifted wheel from side to side, I can see the movement at the cv axle and bearing being separate from the hub assembly, but I have Zero noise other than slightly hearing the pads brush the rotor.
    The ford focus has a fairly bad vibration starting at 50mph and dives to the right during breaking and pulls during acceleration.
    Ball joints and tie rod ends appear fine.
    I don't know what else it could be other than the wheel bearings, but any other time I have had bad ones I could always hear them and all the other information I can find says that you will hear them; Which makes sense.
    The silence of them has me second guessing my diagnosis.
    Can you think of another area that I might check out?
    But I am positive that I see very small separation movement in the rear of the knuckle to hub assembly.
    The movement is on both sides equally, which also makes me second guess myself.

    Bad wheel bearings can also be weird you can get weird noises at medium speeds, between 40 and 60 km/h, but you can hardly notice it when you reach 90 to 100 km/h.
    In my case, my 2016 Mazda CX-3 gives off a bad chopper and rumbling like noise between 40 and 60 km/h, but it goes away over 80 km/h.

    • @DespairRepair
      @DespairRepair  9 месяцев назад

      Hi and thanks for watching!
      I think it all depends on how worn out the bearing is at that moment.
      Sometimes at higher speeds, it sort of centers itself or heats up and there's less noise while at lower speeds it's howling.
      Sometimes it's the other way around.

      If it only happens when braking, I doubt it's specifically the wheel bearing.

    I think my Camry has a bad wheel bearing as I hear loud sounds when driving at highway speeds. I read that you should only drive 1000 miles max with this issue. Is that true or can I push it off longer?

    • @DespairRepair
      @DespairRepair  Год назад +2

      Hi Joseph, thanks for watching, and sorry for the late reply!
      I'll be honest with you: I've seen cases where people drive with that kind of bearing for much, much longer.
      If there's no play in the wheel and the bearing is still in the "mildly humming sound phase" then there should be some time left.
      When it comes to the "crunching phase", when you hear crunching and rumbling from the wheel, that is the certain end and the car should be parked.
      But I must say that all this is "winging it", as soon as you notice the problem go check it out and if possible replace the bearing.
      You never know how much it takes from the humming sound to the wheel getting blocked. It can take months or happen in a matter of days.
      Hope this helps (and don't wait too long to replace the bearing🙂)

      With my 2016 Mazda CX-3, when I drive at typical city speeds, between 40 and 60 km/h, I start to notice the chugging and chopper like noise, and then when I reach highway speeds, I don't hear it at all.
      Bad wheel bearings can be weird.
      I plan to get it fixed at my Mazda dealership in the future.

      It's possible but, at least from what I've seen, this kind of sound would occur if the bearing is totally ruined.
      But before that, you would probably hear a strong humming sound.
      Have you checked the stabilizers? Had the same problem on my Skoda, the stabilizers were the problem.

      @@amandaburleson2035Burleson very good car!
      To be honest it could be a couple of things. The thud sound may be anything from a bad tire to some part of the rear suspension.
      The scraping sound may come from the disc pads, discs, brake shoes, or else.
      But all of this is just a wild guess, best either to take the wheel off and make an inspection or drive it to a mechanic.
      In any case, best don't drive it like that for a longer period of time. It doesn't necessarily have to be something serious, but an inspection is necessary.

      Hi, and thanks for watching! I think you still have plenty of time but just in case replace it in the near future.🙂
      It's the same in my country. After winter most of the roads look like the surface of the Moon.
      I certainly agree that potholes could've caused the problem. One big hit is enough to damage the bearing especially if it's done some mileage.

      @@DespairRepair good morning! i am curious what country are you in? as for michigan, metro detroit area even more than any other state in the US potholes are the worst. there are reasons though. 1 is that Detroiters/michiganders love their cars. we literally yave 85% of people commuting to and from work single occupied cars no carpooling much 2. our state doesn't seem to have weight limit on trucks or at least enformece them if they do compared to any other state, and you combine that with being in place that has teh 45th parallell runng through the upper part of the state we defintely have big weather swings alll the time. so yep.

    Would it also be possible if the the wheel bearing has failed and wheel wobble is happening. Could negative camber or leaning of the tire from the top occur?

    • @DespairRepair
      @DespairRepair  Год назад +1

      Hi and thanks for watching!
      Yes, it is possible, but only if the bearing is on its very last legs. It would have to be seriously damaged for wobbling to happen. Also, by that time, you should clearly hear the bearing howling and grinding.
      At least from personal experience, the wobble usually first comes from something else on the suspension like the tie rod or ball joint, especially if the roads are of poor quality.
      If there's no sound, I'd first check that.
      Hope any of this helps.
